The  flame, it burns eternal,
mortals have no say.
We are born,
thus we die,
’tis rightly
written this way.
The battle is never over
for neither side truly wins.
Good or evil cannot conquer,
they are co-joined as twins.

Do you ever get a feeling,

of something not quite right?

That an adventure’s going to happen

and maybe tonight’s the night.

As the feeling grows inside you

almost too much to bear

you shy at your own long shadow,

then suddenly it’s not there….

You feel magic all around you,

touching the hairs on your skin,

whatever fate has stored for you

you wish it would simply begin.

The air crackles with foreboding

as forked lightning strikes outside,

you hear thunder in the heavens

but there’s nowhere near to hide,

You stare at the copper lantern

you polished a few seconds ago,

as you rubbed three times, you wished a wish

Can you remember it?  I Do Hope So!!

It appears
I’m climbing a mountain,
my whole life a spur to the top.
At the moment it feels slow going
I’m afraid to slowdown and stop.
Looking back I see many detours,
mistaken when faith grew weak.
When the way seemed easier,
or so I thought, until the
trail led me back to seek,
the true path to the crown,
to the summit, where every
breath is now thin and frail.
Reaching the pinnacle of life’s
desire,  to achieve flight, not to
plummet and thereby fail.

The rain is falling……so hard,  so fast

hard to imagine that it won’t last

it soaks all it touches….,plants bow to the weight

of moisture on leaves,  tho’  for some,  is it too late?

Thors’ hammer is thundering…..sounding so near

grumbling and groaning, spreading it’s fear

Just as suddenly it’s over, the sun’s showing it’s face

through the dark clouds ….is this somehow a race?

or a competition to find the one who does best

at making us wonder what's coming next…..

Because the rain… it’s falling, so hard…. so fast

crying real tears?  has it somehow come last?

You asked could you be forgiven,
I said yes, but you see I lied.
You asked if you had hurt me,
I said no, truth is I cried.
Truth can be sometimes hurtful,
make the vulnerable even more so.
Then you asked if we had a future,
I answered with truth,
coup de grâce,
a loud
No!!

For all the tall tales that have ever been told,

For all the sad reasons of the tale telling,

For all the lives touched by lies grown so old,

For all the lovers, betrayed,  left with tears welling

For this is how lies twist a life with such pain

For this is how love is lost through lies spun

For this is sad truth, as faith dies with no gain

For this being Life, Love has ended, No-one's won,

Though the jealousy owning the liar fades and dies

Though it has seen the star crossed lovers are done

what happens when love fades?..why even through lies

Could the liar and the spurned lover ever be as one?

One and one are always two, and two and two makes four, so

who said that three was more than two, and less by one than four?

who said the bird was on the wing, who told you names of everything?

who told you this and that was true, you just accepted didn’t you?

So, the sky is there above your head, the ground is where your feet do tread,

the dog, the cat, the horse, the mouse, the car, the bus, the street, the house,

all have names you learn quite young, your voice doth talk, you sing and you’ve sung

of all the knowledge gained to pass on, Who told it first, Who was the first one?

Perched high on a crag,
                                legs poised to spring,
hearts beating wildly
as we take to the wing
catching warm thermals,
                                                   to float on thin air,
         taking breath quickly,
                                            hardly any to spare
   Now is the time,
                     wings spread out wide
                             a smooth operation,
                        to bank as we glide.
Flowing the motion,
as fluidity is key,
we land, we devour,  for Vultures we be…

Endangered Species

Rüppell’s Vulture or Rüppell’s Griffon Vulture (Gyps rueppellii) is a large vulture that occurs throughout the Sahel region of central Africa. The current population of 30,000 is decreasing due to loss of habitat and other factors. Rüppell’s Vulture is named in honour of Eduard Rüppell, a 19th-century German explorer, collector, and zoologist. Rüppell’s Vulture is considered to be the highest-flying bird, with confirmed evidence of a flight at an altitude of 11,300 m (37,000 ft) above sea level.

Hard to describe, this pain in my side,

left lower back, when it chooses to attack,

always the same , it’s almost a game,

of pain and tears, nearly shouting in fear

that it’ll never cease, ever leave me in peace,

It’s a knife twisting, you know? Please make it go

So I take to my bed, nearly out of my head….

No moving like that, flat on your back,

TV on and stare, at the daily programmes there,

on offer for you, as you stick like glue

to your bed for a week, in your task to seek

a way of holding your head, to hear what’s said,

about House Sales, and Attic’s,  Cash, and Antiques

Switch off your mind, just stare blankly and find

a way to con the brain, not to feel pain

soon you go numb, maybe just playing dumb ,

the pain eases to bearable, not even swearable,

like toothache it lingers, as you **** with your fingers

but better that way, surely than it was yesterday

and tomorrow?,  we’ll see, maybe switch off the TV?

Is it
weakness to share?
is it weakness to care,
weakness to let others
see how you fare?
Surely strength
plays a part,
in a pure
loving
heart
sharing, caring,
giving,
‘tis a positive start…

Come.., let me paint you a mental picture,

there’s a room, with a window and door,

there inside,  a lost and broken man,

with head in hands, sat down on the floor.

A table, looming large, takes centre stage

it’s full of papers, cast hastily about,

and as his eyes gaze sorrowfully on them,

he starts to cry, when he really wants to shout

He wants to shout out loud in his anguish

he wants to scream, and blame it on fate,

he’d taken a gamble and lost all that mattered

one roll of the dice, meant it was much too late.

His love was gone, and never returning

she was gone, taking his heart in her hands

she was so tired of his broken promises,

leaving him alone, with their two golden bands.

Come..., let me paint you a mental picture,

as hope rising, he stares at the door,

and there she was, his love and anchor

One last chance, he whispers,  just one chance more!!

Your love surrounds me, keeps me whole

makes me feel I have a loving soul

which responds to you like a moth to flame

tell me, my love, do you feel the same?

Do you think of me in your every hour?

do you long for my touch, without which you’d expire?

do you find yourself wondering ‘what shall I do?’

if my love is not there, tell me, do you think this too?

If love is not sure,  if there is doubt,

if your love is absent, do you search about

for the reason inside you, are you the source

of the eternal question, ‘Do you love me?’……..  answer ‘Yes, of course’.

The voice said
“Go back
‘Tis not
your time”
I floated down
to this body of mine,
lying there, flesh ‘n bone,
soulfully lost, on my own,
for the light was still there,
shining bright, calling to me,
feeling so right, beautiful,
pulling, surely not dreamt?
It just wasn’t my time,
‘Twasn’t meant.

I LOOKED INTO THE MIRROR’S GAZE
AND BEFORE ME I DID SEE
EYES….SO, SO FRIGHTENING…
STARING BACK AT ME

WHO WAS BEING REFLECTED,
I DIDN’T RECOGNISE THE FACE
THEN WITH DAWNING HORROR
THE FEATURES I DID TRACE

MY EYES SLOWLY WANDERED
FROM FOREHEAD TO POINTED CHIN
AND AS I TRIED TO BACK AWAY,
I WAS INSTANTLY ****** IN

UNTIL I WAS STARING OUTWARD,
FROM THE MIRROR TO THE WORLD
THE LAUGHING FIGURE STARING INWARD,
FLEW AWAY, WINGS UNFURLED.

BLAME ME FOR WHAT HAPPENED,
BLAME ME FOR MY PLIGHT
HOW DID I KNOW ‘TWAS MAGIC,
LOOKING IN THE MIRROR AT NIGHT?

AM I FOREVER DOOMED THIS WAY,
IS THERE A POSSIBLE ESCAPE?
CAPTURED BY A SCARING LOOK
FROM A CREATURE IN A CAPE

SO, HERE I AM A PRISONER,
‘TIL ANOTHER DARES LOOK IN
I COULD ONLY WISH IT BE
THE ONE WITH THE POINTED CHIN

I HAVE TO THINK QUITE DEEPLY,
SURELY I COULD FREE MYSELF WITH EASE
FOR HOW ABOUT YOU, DEAR READER,
LOOK INTO THE TRICKY MIRROR,  PLEASE?

Oh
dear,
I seem to
have lost it,
altho’ I feel it’s somewhere near.
I only used it a second ago
and put it just about here.
Mayhap you’re in possession
unknowing, you now have two.
Please, would you check for double vision?
Two souls, instead
of the one
that is
you.
