The  flame, it burns eternal,
mortals have no say.
We are born,
thus we die,
’tis rightly
written this way.
The battle is never over
for neither side truly wins.
Good or evil cannot conquer,
they are co-joined as twins.

Oh
dear,
I seem to
have lost it,
altho’ I feel it’s somewhere near.
I only used it a second ago
and put it just about here.
Mayhap you’re in possession
unknowing, you now have two.
Please, would you check for double vision?
Two souls, instead
of the one
that is
you.

Perched high on a crag,
                                legs poised to spring,
hearts beating wildly
as we take to the wing
catching warm thermals,
                                                   to float on thin air,
         taking breath quickly,
                                            hardly any to spare
   Now is the time,
                     wings spread out wide
                             a smooth operation,
                        to bank as we glide.
Flowing the motion,
as fluidity is key,
we land, we devour,  for Vultures we be…

Endangered Species

Rüppell’s Vulture or Rüppell’s Griffon Vulture (Gyps rueppellii) is a large vulture that occurs throughout the Sahel region of central Africa. The current population of 30,000 is decreasing due to loss of habitat and other factors. Rüppell’s Vulture is named in honour of Eduard Rüppell, a 19th-century German explorer, collector, and zoologist. Rüppell’s Vulture is considered to be the highest-flying bird, with confirmed evidence of a flight at an altitude of 11,300 m (37,000 ft) above sea level.

The voice said
“Go back
‘Tis not
your time”
I floated down
to this body of mine,
lying there, flesh ‘n bone,
soulfully lost, on my own,
for the light was still there,
shining bright, calling to me,
feeling so right, beautiful,
pulling, surely not dreamt?
It just wasn’t my time,
‘Twasn’t meant.

A thought, not an experience I've had... I wish 'twere so.

Is it
weakness to share?
is it weakness to care,
weakness to let others
see how you fare?
Surely strength
plays a part,
in a pure
loving
heart
sharing, caring,
giving,
‘tis a positive start…

It appears
I’m climbing a mountain,
my whole life a spur to the top.
At the moment it feels slow going
I’m afraid to slowdown and stop.
Looking back I see many detours,
mistaken when faith grew weak.
When the way seemed easier,
or so I thought, until the
trail led me back to seek,
the true path to the crown,
to the summit, where every
breath is now thin and frail.
Reaching the pinnacle of life’s
desire,  to achieve flight, not to
plummet and thereby fail.

You asked could you be forgiven,
I said yes, but you see I lied.
You asked if you had hurt me,
I said no, truth is I cried.
Truth can be sometimes hurtful,
make the vulnerable even more so.
Then you asked if we had a future,
I answered with truth,
coup de grâce,
a loud
No!!
