Birds in cages
Dreams on hold
Days and ages
That will never be told.

Sometimes i feel so contained
Sometimes i think i might rain.

Between bars sits my bird
Sees the sky
But won’t fly.

Wish i could open the door
Imagine i erase the floor.

I want you to tell me
I don’t want you to lie
But i’m so desperate
You might as well try.

I need to hear it
More if it’s true
I’m complicated
Simple won’t do.

Next thing,
You answer
Your words don’t just hurt,
They’re cancer.

Everything i forget
My phone
My keys
But never this.

Wish i could rewind
Go back
Convince my mind
Not to ask.

Some questions aren’t wise
You never know
The demons
They’ll rise.

Long ago,
Shakespeare said:
“Love is blind”
A phrase, so misread,
that seems kind.

If not,
Then tell me why:
All this cases come a long,
Of ripped hearts that can’t just get
Why their lover,
Simply left.

No, you are not blind
When you choose,
At least then
Your eyes are still of use.

It is throughout love’s process
That your sight fails to see
All the little details where your partner
Started to flee.

Everyone has a lie
That they’d wished came true
When blindness takes us by,
We stick to it, like glue.

The game is old:
We play a long,
When we are aged
And when we are young.

So when this break up comes as a shock:
Just stop
Find the bandage,
Take it off.

And gently, rewind
I promise you’ll find
What really means to say:

“That love is blind”
