Random Encounters on the street
Never leads to anything more anymore
We share some smiles and shy looks
but we never dare
We never do
I never say the fancy lines I make up in my head
The word’s that’ll make us love
and, I’d like to think, that neither do you
The line between pathetic and naive is fragile
it keeps us apart

When the sun breaks through my window
Shadows start dancing on my wall
I join in, and they follow
Dancing to a tune no one has heard before
A faceless silhouette starts to hum and sing along
A choir of my lonely thoughts brings harmonies to this song

There are things I hate
To catch a train to a place where you’re not
Talking to people that ain’t you
But sometimes I try to smile
Even though you're not there
