On a dusty path
I walk away from the sun
And into darkness

Standing by a tree
Avoiding falling moonlight
Whispering prayers

The beautiful stars
Giving light when I want none
Giving, while I take

Prayers fall on deaf ears
Silent pleadings unnoticed
And the moon shines on

The ax falls swiftly
Heads roll like children’s marbles
And the moon shines on

Justice falls like rain
The crowds cry and cheer with joy
And the moon shines on

I was but a child
Knowing all about all and
In madness I raved

I was but a boy
Dancing and playing in sin
On streets that I paved

I was but a man
Heading for a painful death
Sun’s Grace, I am saved

Tree of endless life
Let us hang ourselves and swing
Watching life slip by

Life of joyless dreams
We need to gather more rope
Waking just to die

Dreams of empty souls
Swaying gently in the breeze
Light slips from our eyes

Present dilemma
Feet moving, but can't see my legs
Sun fading away

Past is never dead
Clouds drift in front of the sun
Nothing more to say

Future uncertain
Heart of gold, wings fiery red
Heavy feet of clay

Alone in silence
Walking in lonely darkness
Branches slap my face

The path is narrow
The moon lights my way
Step by step, the pace

Garden of dreams, where
Nature suffers in pain and
Tears run down my face

behind the boathouse in august,
he moves to her side.
she pulls away from the boy
with the violet eyes.

in his eyes, tinged in red,
like the sun that inflames above,
burning the land and sea,
scorching the grass and her skin.

then too, an intense blue
so wide and empty,
it rivals the deepest sky
that seeks to swallow the sun

within these colors,
a rush of purple springs forth.
as it surges, he leans forward,
to take the girl with his violet eyes.
