I’ve seen them all

I’ve worn them all

Phaëthon
Nixie Oct 2021
We are two worlds apart
But standing on one
I have green grass
& you have sandy dunes
Gravity tries to pull us back
But I’ll never live in your hell
You keep a constant orbit around my mind
But theres no room for you in my galaxy
Love wasn't the problem
It was always you
Hypothetical You
Nixie Oct 2021
Shadows consumed the beams before me.

Gritty dust coats the air like a thick haze.

The voices that call out to me have been hushed.

With the glass bridge shattered,

I’m stuck in this grey world alone.

I thought I couldn’t sleep with the light off

but I guess the dark doesn’t bother the blind.

Emotions
are sticky
I’m tired
of the same feelings
over and over again
like a record
on repeat
and i just can’t seem
to turn it off

Insomnia
Nixie Oct 2020
Wide awake
My eyes sting
My head hurts
My mind keeps running
Like its got no place to be
My body lays paralyzed
As i beg from my soul
Please stop thinking
Please, please go to sleep

Writers block
Nixie Dec 2019
It starts like a spark
Words overflow in my mind
Feelings flood neck deep
They spill in a funnel
And onto the page
Shaping and pulling
And molding its essence
Then the mind drip drys
Words turn to mush
My thoughts frozen over
I rip out the page and start again

Family
Nixie Dec 2019
I sit at the small wooden table
Basking in the fire's warmth
As I eat with my family
I mutter a witty statement
And sister hits me with her spoon
Laughter fills the room
I blink and its all gone
I sit alone at my apartments counter
Eating nothing more than instant ramen and thinking about those days i miss

Static
Nixie Jul 2019
It tastes like the static of the TV
A continuous numbing void
That consumes all thoughts and dreams

There's no where to run and hide
The weight of it all is my confinement
And it destroys that last piece that ever made me human

Heart of Stone
Nixie May 2019
I'm writing you now
To show you how
All your lies
Won't result in prize
I hope your all alone
Because this heart of stone
Will never give in
And let you win

The Phantom in Red
Nixie Dec 2018
A man dressed in red
With sweet, enticing words
And a song so harmonizing
Like the tune of a bird's

Cold midnight wind
Played with his crimson cloak
He whistled a song
And my silence broke

"Who are you?
Why are you here?"
Quick was his response
He whispered in my ear

"The time is come
You are near
And at last
I do appear.

Whom am I you might ask
But do not dread
I cannot hurt you
I am the Phantom in Red

I will show you
Things no one else sees
The locked up secrets of the world
And I have the keys"

The Ghost in White
Nixie Dec 2018
It came to me in a dream
You were under a white beam
Your shadow echoed under the light
It seems though it was night
I saw your face once more
The one that I still adore
Your skin was pale and eyes void
Reminding me of the day your life was destroyed
I had seen you for the last time
And now my heart could retire to peacetime

Nixie Dec 2018
I woke up this morning
And sat in bed
Painful memories
Remind me of what I should've said

Now you gone and left
And I'm all alone
Wishing somehow
I would've known

The words to say
To you that night
Instead of the ones
I said out of spite

I swear to you
That if you just stay
I'll say all the words
You want me to say.

There's this hope I hold onto,
If the things you said were ever true

But it seems I'm just drinking from an empty cup,
A cup that can never be filled up

Your sweet words weren't just for me,
Is this how it's meant to be?

After everything you said and done,
I should've known I wasn't the only one.

How could one be so close
And so far away?
And always makes you feel
Different yesterday and today?

How could one frustrate you
And also make you smile?
How could one be so nice
And then be so vile?

It makes me think
I'm out of my mind
It's so obvious
I'd think I'm blind
Maybe it's all a big waste of my time

This thing we call life
Nixie Nov 2018
Why do we do the things we do?
I just can't help but to wonder
We're working all through high school

For a career, they say
But when it comes to that
You're still slaving away

But you have to eat
So don't think of quitting
Just work until you're beat

What we call life is a funny thing
We work day after day
Occupying time until death stings.

From the Land of America
Nixie Nov 2018
Broken hearts
Your restless souls
They threw you away
Im sorry

Played parts
In heartless roles
You couldn't stay
I'm sorry

Nez Percé Chief,
I didn't betray you
But was forcefully taken
I'm sorry

My hopeless grief
Nothing I can do
As theirs, I'm mistaken
I'm sorry
I wrote this one for a writing class I was taking and it became one of my favorites. Its in the POV of america talking to the Native Americans.

How do I love thee
Nixie Nov 2018
How do I love thee for there stood doubt
And gone far, far away
All left alone, one would pout
But my fiery passion did stay

A journey across places I've never been
Far off from home, I found thee
Cold rejection reigned again
Heart ripped out for all to see

Determined voices in the head
Thoughts of us meant to be
A stolen life in a restless bed
And I asked how do I love thee?

fake smile
Nixie Nov 2018
An imitation smile
Plastered on your face
A forced laugh
Always present

But through the tired eyes
And a heavy heart
Every hurtful word
Pulls the chains
That holds the curves of the lips
And threatens to break the false face

Blood like Water
Nixie Nov 2018
Take your hand out of mine
Kiss me goodbye one more time
Blood like water,
Blood like water
For all your sons
And all your daughters
Blood like water,
Blood like water
Leave everything at the door
Hurry up and run to war
Blood like water,
Blood like water
So this one is about a man getting drafted into war. Its in the POV of his wife.

Chips and Dip
Nixie Nov 2018
The world might have problems
And they might be true
But I have many more issues
That I can tell you

For an example, this one day
I was eating a chip
But when I looked down
I was out of dip

I sat there a minute
And opened another can
But then I ran out of chips,
Another problem I can't stand
First world problems^^

This is for the Child
Nixie Nov 2018
This is for the child who doesn't hold back
Her violence turned her mind pitch black
For the child who is deathly feared
She fights and fights until the pain disappeared
Mom, dad, are you there?

This is for the child who holds everything in
Hoping for the dangerous words to end
For the child who has nothing left in his home
Feeling empty inside, nothing but bones
Mom, dad, are you there?

This is for the child who always acts tough
But anyone who looked could catch her bluff
Her parents left her when she was young
A truth to never be heard from her tongue
Mom, dad, are you there?

This is for the child who can't remember a time of peace, dreams, and happiness
But blinded by memories of heartache and gloominess
He'd sit in his room hearing words through the hollow walls
He tries to tell them but they can't hear his desperate calls
Mom, dad, are you there?

This is for the child who is always alone
But she yearns for a motherly love she's never known
No one could know her real feelings
No one could know with what she was dealing
Mom, dad, are you there?

This is for the child who keeps his feeling locked inside
The pain and misery eats him alive
He lays every night hoping the torture would go away
But his suffering looks like it's here to stay
Mom, dad, are you there?

This is for the child whose hatred built up
It kept growing and growing until she'd blow up
She doesn't try to hold it in
That's the way it's always been
Mom, dad, are you there?

Tears run down his face
Knowing his past can't be erased
Sitting on his bed all alone
And again he asks
Mom, dad, are you there?
This poem is two stories in one. It switches every paragraph. It was inspired by the song "Broken Home" by Five Seconds of Summer. Hope you like it!

Anxiety
Nixie Oct 2018
I'm sitting in class and I get called
On a question I don't know
But seasons will pass
and trees will grow

Again in class, I'm the one they call
And time seems to slow
But the leaves still fall
And rivers still flow

Again once more, Im called upon
And the fear and anxiety hit
My confidence has run and gone
And time just seems to sit

And although I'm caught in the moment
Time doesn't stop just for me
But until I can get over it
That's just the way it'll be

— The End —
