feet planted firmly
water rushing around me
feel myself surge forward
unbalanced
unable to keep up with the raging current

i’ve lost my footing
nosedive
headfirst into the sand
the saltwater splashes into my eyes
stinging them
into my mouth
tantalizing my tongue with the taste of most of the planet

the sun is the warden
beating on my back
sadistic
relentless in her lashes
the sea gently licks my body as if to solace me
in my failure and physical pain
calling me back to the great blue-black mass.
Nick Giordano Dec 2013
Shapes, colors, sounds
Unintelligible, thoughtless expression
Thrown carelessly into my perception
Cast aside all feeling, love
As you are shepherded into policy
Trapped in a cage of conformity
We become what we're molded to be

Body and mind, desensitized
Body and mind, dehumanized

The workplace has become a temple to the mind
A monument to substance; tear it down
Our existence is blind, meaningless at best
This planet is a wasteland; tear it down

Dehumanize yourself and face to bloodshed
This is an edited version of the lyrics I wrote for my band Myth of I's song "Sub-Human."

Sail into the sun
Thy will be done
I can't get these voices out of my head
When I wake up I wish I were dead
I drag myself out of bed every day
To paint on a smile so I seem okay

I'll keep myself locked up forever
You will never find my treasure
I'll hide away your pain and pleasure
You will never find my treasure

Sail into the sun
Thy will be done
The pearl is black it's locked up tight
Away from the world, away from the light
Signed, sealed, delivered, secluded
And rooted in sand at the bottom of the sea
