I  smell the earth
In your words
Mike Adam Mar 2019
I look forward to
The annihilation
Of my species.

Not too late?
Mike Adam Apr 20
100 years
Not enough
To settle into
Wrinkling bag-

No sooner wisdom
Calms the mind

We are found out

And gone
Mike Adam Jun 2016
In security
and comfort

Full flowing

All growing

Flower of compassion.

Those struggling,
cut their bonds,
for you have power,

Cut their ties

Set them free

Wheelbarrow heaped
with drywood
chopped for grate

Pyramidial tripod
iron ***
hanging

Boiled water rolling
steam and
soggy entrails
of some unlucky animal

Roots shoots and flowers
arrive in woven basket
from long grazed field

Dogs circle
wary, hungry
sniffing at scraps

In a cave
Madmen spit ochre
on hands glued to walls

Cavebound
mad mike scribbles
his civilized mind

Comes love

Cockroach
Beneaththe bat

Make energy
Fertility and
So cane to cavern cycle

To the wine cellar
Crave
Mike Adam Jul 2018
From this stripped down
Verse

Come all these
Wild
Untamed
Munificent flowerings.

Thus it is my love,
With patience
Of a gardener

Dost our love
Fecund
Become

And bloom
Mike Adam Feb 2018
"Without trace,
Leaving only ash

Good-night rice-paper
Person.

Little damage done
To earth-

To infinite space...

No trace, like
Flying geese
Through time.

(Love)"

When fat fruit
Wants to fall
You cannot stop it.

Spread a wide ****
And sit on the grass,

Settling with a blanket
Across the knees.

One falls on the head,
One drops on the foot

Yet here we sit
With a blanket-full
Of fruit.
Americans may substitute *** for **** to rhyme with grass

Watercolour,
Two tears of rain-

Coppered silk dissolves,
Hanging over time.

If Fuji remains
Tell me when

She is a bubbling crater
Steaming lake, fisher,
Cormorant
And all

From your end of
Telescope

Thirty years scans
Infinity

From my end merest
Blink of eye.

When slightest wink
Of billion mile
Star

Outlasts every planet
In the sky
Mike Adam Nov 2016
In the beginning
Was the poem

What god made
Better than this sad
Universe only
I and you can make
With words

Sullied by overuse-

I love this world this poem

This notion that only
I and you may
Understand

This darkest night

1
give me your overcoat
Samuel Beckett
to wear over grandfather jacket

to keep out the wind that
furrowed your old face
to landscape

that took grandpas leg from
running, the trenches too much
for a sensitive man.

2
you gave your movie star jacket
and I cherish it.
your name escaped you in grief

and from losing everything at once
I barely pitied your bereavement.

that is why?
this lovely jacket
and the harsh winds that cull.

how little the care for paltry suffering,
the boy in the doorway, the cowering dog
and the end of today
revealing only tomorrow

Took no vow

But poor for
A whole life

Took no vow
But slept

Alone

Took no vow but
Ate nothing good

Took no viw but
Obeyed.

I renounce all the
Vows
I never took

And vow to live long
And expansive
And happy
Mike Adam Jun 2018
I carry them
Everywhere

These glasses

Tipped them when
We met

And when you were
Lost

O god

I nearly died

But thanks to empty glasses

I survive

Particular light
waving a billion
miles from billion
year ball of gas to
tickle my iris.

And I am shy to show
the ancient traveller
the flipside of men,
blast crater uprooting
the sacred tree of life.

What happened to the
marbled head,
so noble and *****,
the burst of creativity
from cave to modernity?

What happened to sun,
einsteined to power,
the sunny side up
scrambled to gross
confusion and the limitless
cruelty to birthing eve?
God

God
Nostril

Breath
Mike Adam Jan 2017
In deepest shaft
Of coal-black
Consciousness
I lay

Dormant these millenia

Until in time existence flow

Unabstracted by thought

God blew life
Through nostril beard and mouth.

Shimmering in carbon
Granules I rose
To green sod and walked

Somehow creatured

Some way
Man

Pouring molten metal
Into golden moulds-

counterfeit value

This is how gold
Blinds the eye.

Hoard in a wood-yard
To build a better future-

This is how time
Tricks the mind

Loving the abstract you

Now that you in flesh are
No longer here

(Many years,
So long)

Your hair unplugs the bathroom

Harsh words
Entail no tears

Your beauty lingers
Burned under my eyelids
And your perspicacity
Shields my fear

Poem

Gone
Mike Adam Jan 2017
She came she went

She came she went

She came she went

Having no-mind
To make up

I simply witness
This event
Mike Adam Nov 2023
When scalpel sliced through heart

Your butterfly emerged flapping
Blue red blood against
Sterile white

Good to see you free from
All those years locked
Within pulsating muscle

With my love
Walk your life

Away from me
With him

Or whomever
Wherever
You go.

Know I love
And that
Warm envelope

Goes with you

Go-
With my love-
Walk
Mike Adam Jul 2018
Of salt in ocean

Of sugar in tea

Of wheat in a
Deadbeat loaf
Going green.

Whta this means

Is nothing

Is only being

A grain
A universe

And happy
Mike Adam Oct 2016
Simple thing

Walking soflty

Rice-papered
Mike Adam Jul 2016
And all the while
unseen energies
were unpicking
and stitching as
the fabric of
existence fell in
strands upon the street
or
simultaneously
pulled silken threads
together-

My rags are beautiful

Possessions smell

Confused as ever
welcoming life
just as it comes
Mike Adam Oct 2016
Stood stock still
In cemetery

Gazing high

As ghosts from tombs
Emerge to dance
Macabre tunes

And with the light
Once more
To lay them down

Back down once more
To die

From a crack in paving,
in wall

Trapping moisture,
gathering dust to root

Seed pushes from density
to unborn lightness

Poppy flower waves hulloo
On sun-soaked breeze

from seed

They still stand

Grubbing up shrubs
Make a safe path-

This one who
Crosses ravines
On invisible tightropes

And falls
Cartoon
To puffs of dust
And then
Resumes

How we plunder the young
For our wars
We old bald men

Frantic for a comb

Donkey named Ginny.

Five years and sick,
Convalescent friend.

Wagon wheel spreads
Chocolate around the mouth.

Today round clock
Melts,
Giraffe open drawers in neck.

No longer five
But sixty plus

And bewildering motion,
Time and dizzy change,

Endless assault,
Uni-linear movement.

Ever longing to stroke
Her shaggy muzzle.

Eyes
In your mirror
Perfect

Every pigment irised
Each fleck of yellow and
Black lining

Deep
Reflection
Irridescent pools

Your eyes
In your mirror
Take me home
