You have come to the end of it all
And now it's time to answer the judgement call
There's nowhere to run, nowhere to flee
The perfect judge is standing there asking
"How do you plead?"
But you are so deep in this ocean of sin
That you can't even see
The depths of your depravity
And you are so consumed by the desires of your flesh
That you don't even realize that there is nothing left
Gone is the innocence of your lives
You've just been living a life full of lies
But you are so bought into this deception, this deceit
You confidently say I'm innocent, I'm living a life that's sweet
Oh the extent of the ignorance of man
Oh how fallen, how washed away in the sands
You are
Then the righteous judge, he takes the blinders off your eyes
And you can see that your sin falls like rain from the skies
And it piles into a wave that could sweep you away
And bash and batter you on the rocks
Until you come to the realization with a shock
That you are guilty
Of every evil deed
That you thought you'd never see
You are guilty
Of every selfish thought
You imagined you'd never get caught
But you are guilty
Worthy of nothing but destruction and despair
Worthy of nothing but the electric chair
But just as the gavel is about to pound
Your defense, your savior, he comes down
And says: “In days of old
When men worshiped idols of silver and gold
When mankind was just as deserving of a noose around their throat
They were able to give a sacrifice, a kind of scapegoat
It took their place
So their trespasses would be erased
And I am here to be that for this man”
“But he is full of wickedness”
“I know but I love him”
“But she is a sinner”
“I know but I love her”
“They may never accept you, they may come back and betray you”
“I know but I love them”
So the upright judge says "okay, but just say the word and I'll let you be on your way"
But he doesn't make a sound
He just stands there in silence as he lets the gavel pound
Nails in his hands and nails in his feet
A crown of thorns on his head as he cries it is finished, complete
On day 2 the ignorant devil dances
On day 3 He stands over the corpse and whispers “You had your chances”
But as he walks away
Thinking he could rule the world his way
A light from behind him bursts forth
And the dumbfounded devil was blinded when he saw the source
“How could it be?”
“And what could this mean?”
He cries out in confusion
And the living Jesus says: “Let me rid you of your illusion
I am alive
I have been revived
My love will survive
And my kingdom will arrive
But you will die
You have fallen once more
And you will be thrown into the lake from Hell’s fiery shore
And you will be finished”
The devil cowers away, his power completely diminished
And once again your defense meets you in front of the noble judge
And tells you: “look, you don’t have to budge
“But I want you to live in my light and my glory forever
You just have to accept what I’ve done and will I leave you? Never
No matter what you choose to do
I have already completely forgiven you
The verdict is in
And you are innocent
So if you want to live in joy for eternity
All you have to say is that you believe in me
Because I first believed in you
Just say that you love me
Because I first loved you.”
Christ the living saviour
Once died upon the cross
He willingly gave his life
For men like us , Lost

He was tortured , beaten, mocked
Then nailed upon the tree
This great pain he endured
For men like you and me

Upon the cross he hung
A spear ****** into his side
Father please forgive them
Are words our saviour cried

A crown of painful thorns
Was pressed upon his head
His blood flowed down his body
Till the saviour at last was dead

A thief hung on his left
A thief hung on his right
When Christ gave up the ghost
The day was turned to night

Placed into a borrowed tomb
His body laid as if it were froze
Then just as he had promised
On the third day he arose

With victory over death
He came forth from the grave
With victory over death
That men through faith in him be saved

He showed himself to many
Then to heaven he did ascend
An angel said to those present
This same Christ you shall see again

To the earth he shall return
The words written they are true
Christ he is coming back
For men like me and you

"As we are".
Tempted, tried, and crucified
"As we are".
Not reliant on divine providence,
"As we are".
Not happy and full of peace, but broken,
"As we are".
A sacrifice, so we may enter His presence
"As we are".
So we may be righteous, blameless, pure
As He is.
Hebrews 4:15.   "broken" in line six does not refer to the brokenness, sinful nature, of humanity; rather, it refers to the sorrowful desire to avoid God's wrath. Jesus demonstrates this in Mark 14:34-36.   I will continue to add to this poem.
Micah Ziegler Dec 2013
Begin at the beginning and you'll see:
When temptation came they put up no fight.
Broken and depraved forever we'll be,
Caught and trapped in an endless, sinful night.
Fast forward thousands and four hundred years;
One man's sacrifice, one man's love for all,
Bleeding back, bleeding side, and bleeding tears.
Because of His great love, He took our fall.
Three days, just three days is all that it took,
Just three days for His love to be complete.
The ground beneath, even Hell itself, shook.
Sin will never be able to compete.
How great His amazing love, none compare.
How great His love, how great his lasting dare.

Yet
Man-made,
On sand,
Where falls and failures return.
I deserve no second-chance, no forgiveness.
Yet, You are my Redeemer.

A valley of shadow,
A valley of death,
Where darkness and pain linger.
I deserve no help, no light.
Yet, You guide me.

Mountain tops,
Eagles' wings,
Where power and majesty present.
I deserve no sight, no view.
Yet, You are my Vision.

Still waters,
Green pastures,
Where love and joy reign.
I deserve no rest, no peace.
Yet, You carry me.

*****,
Gomorrah,
Where evil and lawlessness abide.
I deserve their judgment, their punishment.
Yet, You are my Savior.

Tarshish,
Bushes,
Where cowardice and disobedience go.
I deserve captivity, shame.
Yet, You set me free.

Egypt,
Babylon,
Where idolatry and hardness live.
I deserve enslavement, the Nile.
Yet, You are my Rescuer.

Heaven,
Hell,
Where life or death eternally exist.
I deserve the second.
Yet, You are my God.

Not by might-
Darkness is vigilant-
By light.

Walking alone.
Enemies shielded by shadow.
Armor worn wears thin.

Flaming arrows fly
Striking,
Hitting heels.

Struggle and Stumble.
Tears and tears.
Failure.

Darkness advances,
Taking its toll.
Twelve tolls and the night is over.

Morning-
Not mourning-
Alights.

Revival:
Standing with strength,
Living towards longevity.

Walking in a pair
Support that never runs short,
Encouragement which conquers every ailment.

There is a battle in my heart and in my mind:
A battle between two lords over my world.
Now one is very real and the other is very virtual.
One is my God and the other is *******,
And while I'd love to say “there's no contest”,
I just don't find myself accepting God's rest.
See God continuously offers me rest with His strength,
He continuously offers me leave,
But every time, I say “No. It's okay God, I've got this, leave it to me”.
And so He listens because that's who He is;
But every time it's left up to me,
I always find my way back to that image on a screen.
An image on a screen
Why is it so appealing?
Why does it draw my eye
When she is right by my side?
She and God should be all I desire
So why do I keep checking the screen like it will catch fire?
Moreover it's not an image that's real, it's an image that's fake.
Why can I remember her body, but I can't remember her face?
She must be a person like you and like me
So why do I treat her like a piece of meat:
To buy and sell and only use when “needed”?
This isn't how this woman ought to be treated.
She should be truly admired and truly loved
By one man not by men who the neck they can't see above.
So why don't you shut down the computer,
For it will only bring hurt to you and to her,
And realize that there is one right beside you who is more beautiful than a photo;
There is one right beside you who loves who you are not how deep your pockets go.
That is the kind of love that you should cherish and you should hold
Because that is the kind of love that never gets old.
That kind of love endures forever,
Because it is love that is blessed by God our Creator.
It's not some love that dies with a battery
And never again gives you anything satisfactory.
So again I say,
Put the computer away
And spend time with the one who truly cares
Because hers is the beauty that no one shares.
This is a hard subject, but it can't be ignored. If you are a guy who says you don't struggle with this: you're lying. If you are a guy who knows you do struggle with this: know that you aren't alone and that there is a way out.     ~I give all I have to the LORD who makes me new~
