As much as I look around
This great wide world
I see you in every place that I go

In a boat at Maine
In a train in Boston
In a Jeep in New Mexico

But why do I search?
And think?
And search?
When I know no hope remains

It's because I had hope
Then lost hope
Then had hope, but lost
And all hope, to me, feels the same

The song bird sits on a sleepy
ice draped branch
in solitude
waiting for Spring to awaken
so it can sing
next to pink cherry blossoms
greeting the new day...
while carefully watching
the sun begin to rise
above snow topped mountains
telling her
it's time to sing again.

caffeine mermaid
revolting youth with elevated minds
on a quest to find their true purpose
calm composures and steady hands
unaware that their palms were full of clay
that they had the power to shape who they'd become
with the ignorant assumption that time was on their side
they rode into the sunset careless and misguided
broken hearts, pieces scattered amongst the tears left behind
a generation consumed by their appearance
at war with themselves for
cigarettes burn between the ******* needed to make peace
the adoption of patience will help shape the clay
that weighs heavy in the hands
of a revolting youth

its nights like these when i miss
the burning of hatred coursing
through my veins.
because right now i can’t
feel a thing not even
the clawing of need
for you.
