it was a cold night
driving down an isolated road
around three in the morning
the only noise i could hear
was the quiescent humming of the car engine
and the sound of the tires rolling against the gravel road
i looked out the window
overlooking the city
and all the tiny, glistening glows
from the street lights
i've realized one thing that day
about street lights
about how much they represent us,
mankind.
street lights are like people
some may look the same
some may look different
but both were designed and created for the same purpose
street lights are spaced out from each other
just like how we sometimes like to separate us from others
but we all stand together
waiting on the side
waiting for the right time
to shed some light
on somebody who needs it
for someone who needs a little light,
in their darkest night.
