transparency
was all it took to make you acknowledge me
release
was all it took to make you want to hold on
these hands are made of smoke
I'm reaching out for anyone
but I'm only an apparition
so I'll just quietly lace my fingers together
you never did believe in ghosts

I know you can see through me
I'm working on that
If only I could communicate
body to mind
or hand to eye
you're too defined
and you're too opaque

it's terrible being so shapeless
I guess I'll close my eyes
and plug my ears
continue to abscond whenever seems fit
ghosts can't feel much anyway

time keeps wasting
it's a nice thing
like a warm sting

two steps forward
into lost smiles
and headlights

he was walking
from bad ties
you could see it

he was jumping
from the deep end
you could feel it

if you're smiling
you'll forget it
for a moment

and when's he's dancing
through the sunlight
i can feel it

face composed
and thoughts well versed
making sure I fall feet first

seasons lost in heavy eyes
digging at the earths soft ties

touch grows cold
and words run dry
mixing up my days and nights

slipping underneath my skin
forgetting how to breathe again

you counted the times my paper thin chest rose and fell.
you traced the valleys with your fingertips.
you watched my ink black blood paint scenes across the room.
you danced to the echoes that escaped from my lips.
you colored me with the blue you stole from the sea.
your touch turned me.
your breath flooded me.
your voice deafened me.

and I will hope for you at the highest peak of every mountain.
and the darkest depth of every sea.

I will find beauty in the pieces of me that were touched by you.

I will cut my hands picking up my broken pieces.

I will buff them out and they will shine again.

running from the light
it's only you & me
everything's alright
it's how its supposed to be

running from the light
into the in-between
are you feeling fine,
or do you need some sleep

swollen eyes
and tears that run into rivers

running from the light
i've taken everything
& thrown it to the side
forgotten what it means

i walked into your light
it knocked me to the ground
i opened up my mouth
but couldn't make a sound

stinging lungs
a chest that feels like a sinking ship

there's something running through my mind
it twists and pulls me in real tight
the feelings fading out and in
but I can't wait to go again

grief stares at you
through muggy, distorted glasses
and offers you the same

it echoes through your body
as you scream
and shake your fist at Him

it is grief
that makes you sob over a piece of clothing

it is grief
that makes you follow a resembling stranger

grief collects
all of the 'whys' and 'what ifs'
and dances them in front of you

grief catches
all of the faults you find
in everyone
and everything
that could have
and should have
changed the outcome

whatever is remaining,
grief will proudly put on display

with open hands
grief catches
every tear spilled

it is with these same
wretched hands
that he offers you a place of solace

and each and every time
your body falls to the ground
unable to do anything more
than breathe in and out,
it is grief
that catches you

an uncomfortable accord
