When you faded back
into that grey area just beyond my view
I wanted nothing but to see you
when you're young, you're dumb
I know that's what you'd tell me
If you even pretended I existed
a perfect monochrome
is all I can make out
I'll finish this later, just wanted to post since it's been a while

An ocean between us
but how can you see this?
our roots are torn up like trees in a storm
I sit on the shoreline everyday
til the sun it sets
looking for
breaks in the waves and the clouds

but if I could make it to you
you'd be the last thing on my mind
my head would be filled with
the thoughts of saying goodbye
cause every sun has to set
and everyone leaves eventually
but my heart wont forget
what you meant, or what you mean

An ocean between us
and now you can see
how the wind it has blown
us farther apart
but some days are brighter
with blue in the skies
forgetting were sitting
on different shores

Unlike what I was
I am a thing of understanding
changing into this shape
and many others before
only to look back
       and laugh
everything is temporary
outside of yourself

The queen of the dawn
stood up and stepped out,
She left me with no doubt
That the queen of the night
would soon come by,
Painting in blue and grey
When the scene is complete
She too will leave,
A memory forgotten by day
Left with the queen
Of things that have been,
Who always knows what to say

As you're running out the winds in your hair
I turn you around to say our goodbyes
we hold back words, replaced with stares
you've seen this look a hundred times
where will you go?
when will you return home?
what will you do?
will you find your truth?
I've never seen the way
the sun looks on your face there
and I don't guess that I ever will
but a man can dream about the waves and
those things you promised to bring back here

Its been on my mind since dawn
Taking me down roads I've gone before
I can't seem to break your ice
And I begin to realize
You might not warm against my fire
Even if I burned it brighter
But that wont keep me trying
To be the one that you rely on
I just want to stay right here with you
And your loving arms
they hold me so tight,
hold me so tight
Make me forget all of my blues
Be my shining star
Guide me through the night,
guide me through the night

Eyes as jewels in the sun
every facet alive like fire
a complextion of snow come
in early parts of winter
as seasons start to turn
with the slow passing tide
I ask you so plainly
where will you reside
hold my hand
through spring and fall
winters chill
can do no harm
the sun seems to hide
inside your embrace
I cant bring myself to just
freeze
For a lover who I thought was much lovelier than she was.
