The Music Box
Larry B Apr 2010
As she listens to her music box
It makes her feel alive
She no longer dances to it's magical tune
For now she's nintey-five

It takes her back to her youthful years
Her memories, wrapped in a smile
She can only remember, bits and pieces
For it's been such a long, long while

Her daddy would lift her on his shoulders
As they danced around the room
Sometimes, she'd pretend, she was the bride
And her daddy was the groom

They played it on her wedding day
She was married for fifty-six years
Again, she winds her music box
As her eyes are filled with tears

It's music brings her comfort
When it's tune begins to play
And as she watches the lady dance
She quietly passes away

Crimson Rose
Larry B Apr 2010
She walks alone down the dusty road
On a night without a moon
She knows if he ever finds her
That her life will end too soon

For now he knows of her infidelity
That she's hidden from him for years
She pulls her hair back out of her eyes
And she wipes away her tears

"I still love you", she softly mumbles
As his car pulls by her side
He says, "Get in the car, we need to talk"
As he takes her for a ride

He says, "I love you too, we can work this out"
For he loved her way too much
He reaches for her tear stained hand
Cause he's aching to feel her touch

She smiles and take his hand
Not expecting it to end like this
They lean across the seat
And embrace in a passionate kiss

He grabs her wrist and won't let go
As she sees the coming light
He aims his car in oncoming traffic
As he holds her oh so tight

"Why are you doing this?, she asked
He said, "Because of all of your lies"
The last thing she heard him say
Was "I love you" and then she dies

It took them several hours
To clean up the twisted mess
When they found her husbands body
He had her picture on his chest

A note was found beside him
That told of her affair
It said if he couldn't have her
He wasn't going to share

Why it had to end like this
No one truly knows
But the place where they found her body
Stands a crimson rose

Abandoned
Larry B Apr 2010
The baby can't stop crying
As she places it in the box
She finds a dumpster to throw it in
As she walks along the docks

There was nothing else, she could do
A mother, at only fifteen
She hurries away as fast as she can
As she hears her baby scream

A runaway, she's all alone
An addict, for years on crack
Her baby left alone to die
But still, she won't turn back

Thrown away, like a piece of trash
A baby, without a name
An innocent child abandoned
By a mother who bears no blame

Another victim of circumstance
Shamelessly, cast aside
With no one there to hear it's cries
The abandoned baby died

The Suicide Poem
Larry B Apr 2010
One of these days, I'll learn how to write
But I'm doing the best I can
I'll probably never be Edgar Allan Poe
Or any kind of famous man

No one will ever know my name
Or even hear my rhymes
I've told myself it doesn't matter
At least a million times

For me this life is over
There's no where else to turn
The time has come for me to end it
I guess I'll never learn

Don't anyone try to stop me
For it will do no good
Things are just gonna happen
The way I knew they would

It's time for me to **** myself
Yes, It's time for the blood to flow
How long does it take to die from a paper cut
Does anybody know?

Satan's Wife
Larry B Apr 2010
She stands by the window waiting
As the tears stream down her face
"One day soon, I'll leave him", she says
As she hangs her head in disgrace

Beaten and battered, her bruises still hurt
With only the slightest of touch
For fifteen years, she's taken it
When will it be too much?

Her family have all deserted her
For they just can't understand
How can she say that she loves him
When he's such a horrible man?

His car pulls in their driveway
She shutters as he slams the door
She wipes her tears and puts on her smile
As her husband approaches, once more

She says, "Hi honey, how was your day?"
When she smells it on his breath
For he'd been drinking most of the day
And she knew he'd beat her to death

He grabs her by the hair of her head
And he throws her to the floor
She points the revolver and pulls the trigger
And screams, "You wont hurt me anymore"

Her lawyers called it self defense
But she just sat there and stared
"He was a piece of trash", they said,
"It's not like anybody cared"

Aquitted of all of her charges
She leaves to start a new life
She councils and tells her story
Of her years as Satan's wife

Santa Claus and the 7 Dwarfs
Larry B Apr 2010
I bet you didn't know that the 7 dwarfs
Used to work for Santa Claus
Yep, they all got fired from the north pole
Cause they kept breaking too many laws

See, Doc was the north pole physician
He tended to those who were afflicted
But he was writing too many prescriptions
And three hundred elves got addicted

Then we have the dwarf called Sneezy
Sneezy became a problem too
Everywhere he goes he's blowing his nose
And they all came down with the flu

Next we have the dwarf named Sleepy
Now this one should speak for itself
He was always found somewhere laying down
Curled up in a corner on a shelf

Then there's the dwarf called Bashful
This one was just way too shy
And when they finally gave him his pink slip
He was too embarressed to say goodbye

That brings us to the dwarf named Happy
Now he was just a bundle of joy
But they just couldn't get him to do any work
Cause he was always playing with the toys

And of course we can't forget about *****
This one always did what they said
But he was a little slow, if you know what I mean
And they think he was dropped on his head

And last but not least we have Grumpy
He would stay out drinking all night
Now he was the the north pole's problem child
Cause he was always starting all the fights

Well that's the end of my story
And I really hope you're not annoyed
Did I tell you Snow White fired them too?
Yep, all seven dwarfs are unemployed

War is Hell
Larry B Apr 2010
He promised he would love her
She promised she would wait
He promised he'd be careful
She promised not to date

He said he'd write her letters
She said she'd send them too
He said that he'd be faithful
She said that she'd stay true

He told her not to worry
She told him she'd do her best
He told her don't forget to pray
She told him he'd be blessed

He knew he wouldn't make it
She knew the same as well
He knew he'd die on foreign soil
They knew that war is hell

Prisons
Larry B Apr 2010
Prisons come in many forms
Some just don't have bars
Even the moon sits in prison
As it's guarded by the stars

Prison can be a broken heart
Not knowing which way to turn
Forgetting how to love again
Or maybe not willing to learn

Your prison can be your loneliness
As the silence tortures your mind
Waiting for that someone
Who you'll probably never find

Prison can be that secret
That you promised not to tell
Hiding your face from all who ask
Like a turtle in his shell

Prison can be your coffin
As you take your final breath
As they lower you in that lonesome grave
Your prison becomes your death

Liberty
Larry B Apr 2010
She waits for him to call her
But the phone just doesn't ring
A knock on the door, shatters her soul
From the heartache that it brings

There stands two men in uniform
They ask her to be seated
Her heart weighs heavy with sorrow
Her hopes dreams depleated

They tell the woman, "He's not dead,
He's only missing in action"
But for a soilder in Afghanistan
This brought her no satisfaction

This was his second tour of duty
And was schelduled to get a leave
This news that her husband was missing
Was impossible to believe

She's heard about the horrible things
They do to a captured G.I.
She falls to the floor in a puddle of tears
As the woman begins to cry

Three weeks later, and still no news
She's numb, for there's no more tears
She hears a knock, for the second time
Could this be her deepest fears?

Once again two men stand in uniform
As her heart begins to bleed
Then suddenly, a third man appears
For her husband had finally been freed

This poem was written in honor
Of the soilders who keep us free
And we should never take for granted
This thing called Liberty

Temptation
Larry B Apr 2010
Temptation is a being
That forces us to explore
Enticing secret desires
That keeps us wanting more

He always knows our weakness
And promises things we crave
Our addictions all run wild
Til we become his slave

Temptation knows no boundaries
He cares not who we are
He leads us down a endless path
Until we've gone too far

He's known to come in many forms
And wears a thin disguise
He's shrouded in deception
To make us believe his lies

The next time you are tempted
Don't follow his instruction
Or you will surely find yourself
On a path to sudden destruction

The Illusion
Larry B Apr 2010
Sometimes it's impossible
No matter what you do
To find the right words
You just haven't a clue

The words are elusive
And remain out of sight
With no sure direction
Not knowing what to write

The pen meets the paper
Like two strangers afar
The poet's the director
His work is the star

The silence is deafening
As your thoughts tumble in
Not knowing the ending
Or where to begin

You peer out your window
With anticipation
Void of ideas
Or divine inspiration

The writer is sidetracked
With the slightest intrusion
And this great work of art
Has become an illusion

The Dwarf Cult
Larry B Apr 2010
Snow White and the 7 dwarfs
Are really not what they seem
So stay far away from them
Or they'll put you on their team

They're really one of them doom's day cults
And Snow White is their leader
They'll do whatever she tells them to
And I hope you never meet her

They do that cult-like chanting
The one everybody knows
It's some kind of crazy singing
"Hi **, Hi **", you know how it goes

Even their names should tell you
That something's kinda creepy
Grumpy, Bashful, *****, Happy,
Sneezy, Doc and Sleepy

They stand out on the corner
And pass their leaflets out
Telling all who passes by
What they're all about

They'll offer you an apple
And you'll think they're being kind
But all it takes is just one bite
And then they'll control your mind

Don't say I didn't warn you
If you do what I have feared
You'll find yourself 3 feet tall
And sporting a tiny beard

I Just Can't Remember
Larry B Apr 2010
"His hair is gray, with bloodshot eyes
Why does he look at me that way?"
"I've asked him his name a million times,
But he never has nothing to say"

"He just stands there watching me,
Where ever I go, he is always there"
"It's almost like he knows me,
Maybe, that's the reason he stares"

"Sometimes, he seems so familiar
I can almost recognize his face"
"Maybe we were friends a long time ago,
In a different time and place"

"But still, why wont' he speak?,
Or at least maybe tell me his name"
"Is he shy or is he just arrogant"
"Is this some kind of twisted game"

"Come away from the mirror," his daughter says
As she takes him by the hand
He says, "But why won't this person talk to me,
I just don't understand?"

Four Letter Words
Larry B Apr 2010
Love is something we're born with
Hate is something we're taught
Love is something we look for
While hate can never be sought

Love doesn't takes any effort at all
But hate takes a lot of work
Love makes you feel good inside
While hate makes you feel like a ****

Love is something that always brings peace
While hate only causes war
Love will always be welcomed
But hate we will always ignore

Love grows freely inside of us
Hate someone plants a seed
Love is part of who we are
Hate is a whole different breed

The only thing they have in common
They're both just a four letter word
Love will always come natural
Hate must be seen and heard

Field of Stone
Larry B Apr 2010
She tries to remember
His voice as she cries
Reflections of him
Can be seen in her eyes

Her memories betray her
With each passing day
Her smile, now broken
Has faded away

Her reason for living
Escapes her mind
She looks for a future
But none will she find

Her lover now sleeps
In a field of stone
As she's cursed to walk
This world alone

Distant
Larry B Apr 2010
Sometimes, we simply drift apart
No matter what we do
We always try to make it work
Tho we know, it's not going to

You say that I neglect you
And I don't know you anymore
You need my full attention
Like the way it was before

"It's not you it's me" I say
But no comfort can be found
We sit and don't communicate
We barely make a sound

As days go, by the words will fade
We're both now less persistant
There's nothing we can do to change
We've now become too distant

Dance, little Angel
It's time to dance
You'll never know failure
Until you give it a chance

Traces of fairy dust
Will only enhance
This moment, we'll cherish
As we're watching you dance

Put on your slippers
And give us a twirl
Photographs are taken
Of our little girl

You can feel the music
As it sings from within
Don't be afraid
To give us a spin

A miracle hidden
Is so hard to find
Just dance, little Angel
Though you are blind

Cupid Stole My Wife
Larry B Apr 2010
Valentine's Day is dead to me
Now It cuts me like a knife
See, February the fourteenth
Was the day, Cupid stole my wife

I told my wife how special she was
With flowers and candy in hand
She replied, "Yeah okay whatever"
And I really didn't understand

I thought I left the toilet seat up
Or said her mom was fat in my sleep
I tried to ask her what I did
But she just wouldn't utter a peep

Then out of the blue, I noticed
A tiny arrow had pierced her heart
I knew it was that love fairy
That had torn our marriage apart

She said," I'm sorry I just can't help it,
I love that little dude with wings,
He makes me feel alive inside,
With all the happiness he brings"

"He even likes to watch chick flicks
What more can a woman ask?"
I knew I couldn't compete with that
For It was just too great a task

Well, the days went by like minutes
Til one day, when I came home
Our bank account had been cleaned out
And I found myself alone

I still see them every now and then
And now Cupid has even grown a beard
My wife was always partial to those
So it turned out just like I'd feared

Don't worry about me, I got my revenge
I'm dating Mother Nature and never feel no pain
For everytime, they leave their house
She always makes it rain

A Mother's Cry
Larry B Apr 2010
Aimless without direction
My heart cries out with sorrow
My hopes and dreams all vanished
No promises of tomorrow

Left with only a memory
That can never fade away
Abandoned without discretion
As I live from day to day

The future holds no meaning
As I count each day the same
My loving arms now empty
Without a love to claim

I dare not look for reason
But the bitterness fills my soul
A pain without consolement
That none should ever know

Left with only pictures
That beckon for my smile
Frozen moments in time
That harbor my denial

Silence fills the air I breathe
Not wanting to exhale
My soul now filled with echos
In a lost and empty shell

I struggle each day to survive
As my heart becomes defiled
A loss without redemption
For one who's lost a child

A Mother Stands Watching
Larry B Apr 2010
A mother stands watching
As He grows into a Man
Not knowing His Path
Or even His Plan

She's proud of her Son
For He stands for good
Helping His neighbors
Just like He should

Preaching and teaching
All thru this land
Doing the things
His Father Commands

She couldn't have known
His Days would be short
Or His Journey would end
In Pilate's high court

Forsaken, forgotten
On Calvary's Hill
Only He alone
Could do God's Will

A mother stands watching
As He's Crucified
A mother stands watching

The Lady in the Box
Larry B Apr 2010
You're as beautiful as the day, I met you
And it will always be that way
I said that I would always love you
And that still stands true, today

You're the best mother a child ever had
And you're also the world's greatest wife
You're the woman of a thousands dreams
That I've searched for all of my life

You always knew how to make me smile
Whenever I was feeling down
There was something in your magical voice
That would melt away my frown

I wanted to put you on a pedestal
But you said it was way too high
You said you didn't deserve it
But I never quite understood why

You're the reason that God made the sunshine
To compete with your beautiful smile
But you never thought you were special
For that was just never your style

We've made memories to last us a lifetime
And I promise to never forget
I've made you a million promises
And I haven't broken one yet

I come here today to say goodbye
And to give you one last kiss
I want you to know, as they lower you down
How much you're gonna be missed

The Day that Barney Died
Larry B Apr 2010
Whatever happened to my little girl
She was the princess I was the king
I'd be whatever she wanted me to
Just for the smiles it would bring

The tea parties were always her favorite
She made the best tea around
You better believe when it wasn't
I would never made a sound

She just loved to play hide and seek
Of course she would always win
We would play that game for hours
It seemed like it would never end

And how many monsters have I killed
That were hiding underneath her bed
Or tucked her in to sleep at night
As I kissed her on her head

And all those bedtime stories
Her excitement would show in her grin
She always wanted, just one more
As soon as the story would end

I'd get her ready for school each day
And make sure I packed her lunch
She'd aways smile and wave goodbye
And say, "Daddy I love you a bunch"

Then one day I said, "Barney is on"
She said, "I don't watch that anymore"
That was the day, I knew she out grew
That purple dinosaur

It wasn't quite the same after that
And even though I tried
The tea parties had ended forever
The day that Barney died

Legacy
Larry B Apr 2010
Traces of our lives
Are left when we are gone
A little piece of what we were
Stays behind to carry on

Some may call it history
Remnants of our past
What we choose to do today
Determines if it lasts

No one sees tomorrow
Our plans, uncertain at best
We just live day by day
And time will do the rest

We try to make a difference
Not knowing which way to turn
Making mistakes along the way
But always willing to learn

Destiny awaits our Legacy
To see what we have been
No promise of tomorrow
Just evidence of an end

Jake
Larry B Apr 2010
Now I know you've heard the stories
About animals who are smart
But here's a tale of a dog named Jake
Who was a genius from the start

Now, this dog could do anything
He could even add and subtract
He even starred in a broadway play
And, man, that dog could act

Now, nobody ever had to feed him
For, he was even a gourmet chef
Did I mention he was a teacher?
He taught sign language to the deaf

Now Jake was not just an ordinary dog
He remembers everything he sees
He has a photographic memory
And he even knows the names of his fleas

He wouldn't just bring your slippers
He would put them on your feet
That dog would even remember to flush
And put down the toilet seat

Jake even took the children to school
And stayed with them, all day long
He heard every word the teacher said
And corrected her, when she was wrong

Now, you probably think I made this up
And, everything I've told you is fake
But I'll bet you'll be surprised to know
That this poem was even written by Jake

The Poet's Poet
Larry B Apr 2010
People often ask me about my favorite poet
Let's see if you can guess
He's nothing like the coventional ones
Or even any of the rest

Everyone who saw him knew his name
For he said it a million times
I laughed everytime he opened his mouth
For he'd always speak in rhymes

He was even so famous he was on tv
And you can still see him today
As long as there's a word called "syndication"
They'll never take him away

Sometimes he was seen as a trouble maker
As he often hurled his rocks
But somehow, he would make his escape
For he was always as sly as a fox

He came to town to find him a woman
But somehow, would always fail
He'd leave the town broken hearted
After spending a night in the jail

Your time is up, Have you figured it out?
It's time to tell you at last
"It's me it's me Earnest T, I can see you but you can't see me"
I'm talking about Earnest T Bass

The Unfinished Poem
Larry B Apr 2010
The poet tells his story
As he writes it with his heart
His feelings, his inspiration
Is where his poem starts

He tries to help us understand
His suffering and his pain
His pen and paper, his only voice
As he tries his best to explain

He labors for what seems like hours
For the words to pierce our souls
He's ever watching his meter
And the rhythm that it flows

The perfection he seeks is elusive
For it's all a matter of taste
But knowing that the words he used
Could never go to waste

For now, his soul is emptied
And his pain, somewhat diminished
He knows his relief is fleeting
And his poem remains unfinished

You see, the poet is a prisoner
To the words that fill his heart
From where his first poem ends
Is where his next poem starts

Hell
Larry B Apr 2010
In this pit of utter darkness
The day doesn't see the light
Encompassed by my agony
To my captors, joyous delight

Surrounded by constant weeping
And the sounds of grinding teeth
Their cries for mercy go unheard
With no hope for any relief

The living dead is what we're called
For there's no one here deceased
This torment will last forever
And the torture will only increase

Time here has no meaning
In this prison cell of sorrows
Forgiveness, now an illusion
No hope for more tomorrows

Hope is now a foreign word
Only spoken under our breath
Compassion here is futile
We can't even pray for death

Our sins have been recorded
And play back in our head
With our chances for forgiveness
But we still chose this, instead

This place is called, "Eternity"
Forever here, we'll dwell
Others say "The bottomless pit"
But this is simply Hell
Larry B Apr 2010
Easter is more than what we see
It's something we can feel
The mighty stone was rolled away
That stood as the borrowed tomb's seal

He's Risen, He's Risen the women cried
For it's just an empty grave
Death is no longer His master
For He is no longer death's Slave

Oh grave, where is thy victory?
And death, where is thy sting?
The Resurrection has taken place
As the Angels began to sing,

"Today is the day Salvation is born
Along with Mercy and Grace
The King of Kings has returned to His Throne
To take His Rightful Place"

So remember, this Sunday as you celebrate
That He has Risen, who died
For it's not just the things that we see
It's what we feel inside

Rich and Famous
Larry B Apr 2010
Well, I was gonna write a poem
But I can't remember how
I know words are involved
You know, like "thee" and "thou"

And I was gonna be famous
You know, like Edgar Allan Poe
Wait!, I think that was his name
Or was it David Allan Coe?

Yep, I was gonna be rich and famous
Til a friend of mine said
"You can't be rich and famous,
Til long after you're dead"

I knew right then I didn't wanna die
So a mediocre poet, I'd be
And if anybody ever said I was good
I'd say, "Huh?"... "Who me?"

Now words come easy to one like me
Course, I don't really know how to spell
But that just keeps me down to earth
We wouldn't want my head to swell

So if I write a poem that's really good
Don't say, "Great" say, "It's okay" instead
Cause I don't wanna be rich and famous
And I don't wanna turn up dead

The Easter Accident
Larry B Apr 2010
Before I ever write this tale
I hope you will all forgive me
It was just a horrible accident
It was dark and I just couldn't see

I was driving home one night
On a narrow country road
It was raining, something awful
When I heard my tire explode

I lost control and couldn't stop
That's when I started to swerve
I heard a thump and a terrible scream
As I came to a stop in the curve

I thought I'd hit a possum
Probably even broken it's legs
Imagine the horror that I was in
When I saw all those Easter eggs

Yep, you guessed it
I had killed the Easter bunny
Ok, everybody stop laughing
Cause I really don't think it's funny

I tried to find that poor little rabbit
And maybe give him CPR
But when I finally found him
He was stuck to the grill of my car

So, I picked up the little fellow's basket
And all those broken shells
I had to get rid of the evidence
Cause you know how a rotten egg smells

I buried him in a shallow grave
Under a giant oak tree
His basket and all the easter eggs
Are in my trunk under lock and key

Well, again, I want to apologize
So, forget everything you saw
At least, we know that a rabbit's foot
Just isn't that lucky at all

Missing Pieces
Larry B Apr 2010
Love is just puzzle
Though you must admit
It makes a beautiful picture
When all the pieces fit

If the commitment piece is missing
And it's hard to find devotion
We try to find the promise piece
While still looking for emotion

Respect and trust are smaller pieces
But they make the puzzle whole
And where did I put that honesty
Does anybody know

I've finally found affection
I think it goes right here
Patience is a bigger piece
But it always disappears

To make this puzzle whole
Our work must never cease
Love becomes the picture
When we find the missing piece

With voices of the past
Our future fades away
Destined not to last

Sorrow makes its nest
In my hollow heart
Emptiness resides
And tears my soul apart

Now, a single heartbeat
Once, where there were two
Just the sound of loneliness
Whatever will I do

Broken and betrayed
Lost without direction
Cursed forevermore
To never know affection

A tomb of rejected love
Imprisoned 'til the end
The tears I cry each night
Are now my only friend

Have You Ever?
Larry B Apr 2010
Have you ever seen a sunrise
As it climbs above the trees
Or, maybe, when is finally sets
And melts into the seas?

Have you ever felt the wind blow
As it's whispers thru your hair?
A force of nature we can't see
But yet, we know, it's there

Have you ever felt a raindrop
As it's rolling down your cheek
Or hear the sound the water makes
As it's running thru a creek?

Have you ever seen the lightning
As it lights the darkened skies
Or watch an eagle spread his wings
And wonder how he flies?

Have you ever heard the thunder
As it sounds it's mighty roar?
Never wondering even once
Is there something more?

Have you ever watched a snowflake
As it tumbles to the ground?
Marveling at its silence
When it doesn't make a sound

Have you ever thought of Heaven
And maybe think it odd?
How can someone see these things
And not believe in God?

Grandma got run over by a reindeer
I'm sure you remember that song
Well that was my grandma who was hit
And again, they got part of it wrong

See, she really was run over by reindeer
But it was nothing like they said
Those deer were driving a milk truck
That left my poor grandma nearly dead

My poor grandma just got done milking
And was putting the cows back in the field
When eight drunk reindeer in a milk truck
Crashed thru the fence and didn't yield

They just kept on going thru the barn yard
Straight thru the creek and down the hill
Grandma looked like a bug on a windshield
With pieces of her wig on that milk truck's grill

Now poor grandma never seen it coming
Cause she was looking the other way
We even found that poor womans glasses
Stuck on a scarecrow near the hay

Well, now my grandma had not been drinking
Like that song had claimed she was
But somehow they try to make it funny
Seems like those city folk always does

Well, that's about as much as I can tell you
Because the lawsuit is still pending
Those reindeer got some north pole lawyer
And we heard he's pretty good at defending

So beware of reindeer driving milktrucks
For they mean to cause your grandma harm
And don't forget try to remind your grandmas
To look both ways when she leaves the barn

Dusk Til Dawn
Larry B Mar 2010
As the sun begins it's journey
Darkness overtakes the light
The moon wakes from it's slumber
As it ushers in the night

The sun gives up its glorious hold
As the moon begins to rise
The pinkish glow of defiance
As they battle to own the skies

But the moon remains persistent
In its quest to gain control
While the sun looks for a resting place
To hide it's radiant glow

The moon becomes impatient
And calls for the stars to appear
The sun is growing weary
For it knows it's time is near

The stars reflect the moonlight
As the sun is seen no more
Each night, this battle rages
Just like the one before

The sun returns at dawn
To reclaim it's rightful place
But the moon will rise at nightfall
As the sun sets in disgrace

Broken

Broken

Everytime I think of you
Something starts to break
First, my broken heart
What else will you take?

Next, it was my smile
I don't use it anymore
I've already forgotten
What I need it for

Then you took my breath
The air I need to breathe
It took all the breath I had
To beg you not to leave

You took my very soul
The minute you said goodbye
You even stole my tears
For I no longer cry

Now I fall to pieces
Each time your name is spoken
I'm just an empty shell
Nothing more than Broken

Big Foot
Larry B Mar 2010
Now, I believe in bigfoot
I've seen it with my own eyes
It was hairy and all hunched over
And it's **** was covered with flies

It had a smell that I can't describe
I even had to hold my nose
That hairy thing scared me so bad
I just stood there and froze

It's face was ugly and covered with hair
I couldn't tell about it's gender
It just stood there staring at me
Like it wanted me to surrender

It opened its mouth and a noise came out
It was trying to communicate
I couldn't understand a word it said
And I wasn't about to wait

I took off running as fast as I could
With that monster right on my tail
I thought I was gonna regurgitate
Remember, I told you, "the smell"?

I almost made it, til my wife made me trip
That's when I started to fall
She said, "Stop it! What are you doing?"
For it was only my mother-in-law

Another Broken Smile
Larry B Mar 2010
Visions of the past
Devour my very soul
Hopes and dreams now void
Forever takes its toll

Memories that were cherished
Fade away like mist
Promises of the future
Forever now dismissed

Another broken smile
Takes its rightly place
With the tears of your rejection
That's streaming down my face

Forever now entombed
With misery and pain
Reminders of what could have been
Never to be obtained

Imprisioned by my sorrow
Haunted by my past
A love that wasn't meant to be
Was destined not to last

Who Am I
Larry B Mar 2010
I was on the cross at Calvary
The day Jesus suffered and died
An innocent Man who took your place
Was unjustly crucified

No one saw me hide my face
But everyone knew my name
I was the reason He had to die
And you were the reason He came

Everyone is a part of me
From the moment of their birth
Just a whisper in the garden
And now I rule this earth

Nailed to a cross at Calvary
As mercy and grace begins
I am what His blood made clean
For I am all your sins

A True Love Story
Larry B Mar 2010
I have to tell a story
About the one I love most
She's always soft and warm
And such a gracious host

She patiently awaits me
Each day when I get home
She never lets me down
And I never feel alone

She's never once complained
When I get in a foul mood
She never yells or screams
When I spill a plate of food

We never ever argue
And I always get my way
She even gives massages
And I need them everyday

We always sit together
As we're watching our tv
The remote control is mine
What we watch is up to me

She doesn't mind the football games
We watch them every sunday
And she'll always be there waiting
For the game to start on monday

I just wanted to tell you
I'll love her til the end
For there's nothing like my recliner
She's truly man's best friend

A Poem is Born
Larry B Mar 2010
The pen meets the paper
And it's love at first sight
For apart they are nothing
But together they will write

A marriage of necessity
For their need is just too great
Joined together in marital bliss
Their purpose is to create

Inspiration is their maid of honor
Creativity, their best man
The writer is the minister
And the chapel, the writer's hand

The words are the flowers
For the paper, to adorn
And as the pen meets paper
That's when a poem is born

Morning Glory
Larry B Mar 2010
There's nothing like the morning glory
That kisses the morning dew
It welcomes the morning sunshine
That it's beauty awakens to

Some proclaim it's only a ****
But it's really much more than this
The essence of anticipation
A touch of Heavenly bliss

It's time to shine is fleeting
As it labors to greet the light
It's name proclaims it's majesty
As it sleeps thru out the night

Another flower has never been found
That's so wrapped in mystery
Awakened by an angel's kiss
Each morning so magically

The Masterpiece
Larry B Mar 2010
Words can paint a picture
The brush is the writer's quill
The letters are our brush strokes
As it paints the writer's will

Like a modern day Picasso
In the words that we paint
The paper is our canvas
As we write without restraint

Framed in the eye of the beholder
It stands the test of time
Searching for the perfect words
As he paints to make it rhyme

The ink brings out the masterpiece
That's hidden in the writer's heart
With the reader, his museum
That displays his work of art

Winter's Cry
Larry B Mar 2010
Behold the silent battle
That the changing seasons bring
Winter's grip is loosened
As the robin begins to sing

The flowers strain toward Heaven
As their fragrance fills the air
For spring has given notice
But winter will not despair

Winter will not be broken
As it fights with it's last breath
But spring's warm winds are endless
And the reason for winter's death

Spring proclaims it's victory
As it watches it's rival die
The snowflakes have changed to raindrops
As winter begins to cry

A Love Story
Larry B Mar 2010
The stars reflect her beauty
While competing for her smile
Each one thinks her love is their's
While filled with blind denial

She continues to entice them
As each one feels her stare
Her love belongs to all of them
But none will choose to share

A falling star is nothing more
Than a star with a broken heart
Crippled by her rejection
It will suddenly fall apart

Whenever you see a twinkling star
It's just the Lover's dance
Dying for her attention
In its quest to find romance

The Dippers, both big and small
Were formed to quench her thirst
They stand in line to honor her
As they battle to be the first

The Northern Star takes precedence
As he points which way to go
His countenance is blinding
As he absorbs her radiant glow

So, don't forget to watch the stars
And smile each time they swoon
For now you know this love story
Between the stars and moon

Is Anybody There?
Larry B Mar 2010
Bewildered and forgotten
No one seems to care
Alone I sit while asking
Is anybody there?

Growing old was not my fault
Nor was it in my plans
I followed the path life gave me
Just like time demands

Discarded like a memory
That's no longer of any use
Rejected and neglected
My age is no excuse

No one comes to visit me
It's like I don't exist
They think I can't remember
So, I am just dismissed

Solitary confinement
What am I being punished for?
You tell me that you love me
Don't I deserve so much more?

No one to tell my troubles to
Or to talk about the past
A prisioner of my loneliness
How much longer can it last?

Banned from all existence
By the wrinkles on my face
One day soon, you'll feel my pain
For you will take my place

The Gift
Larry B Mar 2010
It's not in the rhymes you make
That tells one who you are
It's not what you feel inside
No matter how bizzare

It's not in the story you tell
That makes the reader cry
It's not in all the mystery
That leaves them asking why

It's not in the joy you bring
That causes them to smile
Or all the fancy words you use
Or because they love your style

It's not the tales of forgotten love
That makes the reader weep
It's not the broken promises
That someone's pledged to keep

It's not in all the anger
That flows from the writer's pen
Or the feelings of betrayal
We sometimes feel within

It's not in our descriptions
That makes the reader soar
Or the feelings of bewilderment
As we leave them wanting more

It's not in all the broken hearts
That's written across the page
The hope of being famous
Or to make the world your stage

One definition cannot define
The gift that a poem brings
A poem is so much more than that
For it is all these things

Purgatory of Broken Hearts
Larry B Mar 2010
The darkness here is blinding
In this prison of lost desires
Not even a burning ember
Can rekindle the forsaken fires

A tomb of broken promises
Is my only company
No hope for an escape
No chance to ever be free

Pain and heartache mock me
As I ponder my mistakes
The sound I hear is deafening
From the heart that finally breaks

My thoughts, my only refuge
Of the things that could have been
But grief will soon remind me
Of the love that had to end

Comfort and joy betray me
Tomorrow will never come
Held captive in my anguish
As I am left, feeling numb

My purgatory is the silence
And here I shall remain
Forever to be forgotten
For my captor is my pain
