Educate...
Let them trade those weapons they hold so dear with papers and pens.
Let them cease the bombing and hostility that's behind the aching of countries, families, and friends.

Educate...
Let there be no conflicts resolved through blood spilled by innocent souls.
Exchange it for drops of ink endeavoring to mend and put the pieces back together of a country that was once whole.

Educate... To foster peace and force change.
      These spiritual window-shoppers,
who idly ask, 'How much is that?' Oh, I'm just looking.
They handle a hundred items and put them down,
      shadows with no capital.

What is spent is love and two eyes wet with weeping.
But these walk into a shop,
and their whole lives pass suddenly in that moment,
      in that shop.

       Where did you go? "Nowhere."
What did you have to eat? "Nothing much."

Even if you don't know what you want,
buy something, to be part of the exchanging flow.

       Start a huge, foolish project,
      like Noah.

       It makes absolutely no difference
      what people think of you.
I had a dream where
we stood on a meadow,
staring into the night sky,
forcing the stars to appear
in their full eternal glory.
As the stars slowly
began to reveal themselves,
splashes of orange and yellows,
blues and greens,
reds and pinks,
were orbiting around us.
The planets have come out
to dance their dance
and to sing their songs.
We looked up,
and there was a sense of
total completion.
You reached into my mouth
and pulled out a planet
created purely by being pressed
and pressed by the heat of my organs.
You pulled it out
and threw it to the sky.

"I lost myself that day. . ." I thought.
I woke up.
If I've only learned one thing from this life it's this.
If you love someone, say it, say it all the time. Say it twice.
Say it before every car ride, every plane trip, every night when you go to sleep.
If you love someone, make sure they know it.
Say it when you feel like you hate them and you're fighting and you're sad and hurt and you're about to part angry,
Say it,
Turn and yell it like an insult, "I LOVE YOU!"
And then storm out.
"I love you."
Because that's what matters.
Say it every rainy day doing puzzles in the living room,
Every ordinary moment in the grocery store buying bread,
Every chance you get. Say you love them.
If you love someone, say it.
You can never say it too much.
And whatever else I may have failed to learn
I do know that.
I've never been one for burning books
But this is life
And these words char the paper they're printed on
And I think you need to burn your fingers to realize
You better turn the page.
Life is short.
Strike a spark inside your chest
And let it go off like a firecracker.
You might be arson in the morning, honey,
But you'll never be ashes.
Life is short.
Sometimes you've got to torch the house to find the foundation,
And sometimes the world's gotta burn you down to your backbone
For you to realize you've got one.
Here I am,
A silly little human
On this silly little planet.
And I have these...
These incredible experiences.
I have these earthshattering nights
Gazing into someone's eyes like they're galaxies
With my heart crashing against my ribcage like the tide.
I have these spiritual awakenings,
These end-all blossoming moments of total wonder,
And I could eat the world,
Swallow it.
I could be all of it
And it wouldn't encompass what I feel.
And I'm just this...
This little ant, here,
On a marble
Crawling with millions of other ants
All having experiences all over the place,
And I'm really not that unique at all,
And nobody really cares in the long run,
But god,
Spending a night in your arms rearranged me by the atom.
And that's pretty big
To me.
