the same

in so many ways
they are the same
a lasting smile
contagious laughter
a mysterious past
a focused future
one goal in mind
but carefree along the way
somehow they both
entice me
and i need more
than what I have

but they are so different
to one, the talent
the humility
together make a passion
so deep, so deadly
so alluring
despite his dedication
he is lighthearted
his wit is biting
his spirit refreshing
and he doesn’t know
how great he is
bright, brilliant, beautiful

and then the other
so dark, so harsh
his talent lies in his ability
to vanquish the sight of others
and love himself
no talent but confidence
but a confidence so rare
he’s available, he’s open
he spreads like fire
who doesn’t love
flirting with danger?
so unique, but so dire
arrogance unparalleled
dare he exist as anything but a villain
insolent, irreverent, irresistible

it should be clear
who to love
cling to light, run from dark
love what is right,
flee from desire
but it’s not so easy,
as they are the same inside
but convey it differently
lust is deadly
but so is surrendering oneself
to the promises of another
spoken or otherwise

in so many ways
they are the same
a lasting smile
contagious laughter
a mysterious past
a focused future
one goal in mind
but carefree along the way
somehow they both
entice me
and neither desire
to return my affection

how
never in my wildest imagination
could i manufacture a person so divergent
so anomalous
so exceptional

you must have been contrived
by the fiercest of counterculturists
combining parts from one trope
to one entirely different
in a mismatched concoction
of fabricated mystery

so raw with your masculinity
so vigorous in your handiwork
but so tender at heart
so sensitive to the trivial ails
of your reeling lover

everything you do is so
wildly unprecedented
so fresh
so renewing
i'm shocked by your creativity
your boundless ingenuity
that reveals the matchless wonder
of your magnificent humility

someone so dapper
should not possess a heart so full
so vibrant
so goofy
and so open to love
because then someone like me
could fall in and never
find her way out

composed and collected
but in romance unbridled
how do you find the balance
so perfectly
for my two greatest desires?
i'm safe but i'm challenged
i'm motivated, excited, aroused-
i'm home

you stun me with your simplicity
and blind me with your charm
you are a force so alluring
so potent
so constructive
so irrevocably mine

It would be a comfort
To find in you a flaw
So that I could be sure
I’ve broken no earth’s law
In landing such a man
Too eloquent for straw
But until then I behold you
In pure, magnificent awe

I am not wholly certain
That what I feel is shared
And I lost the courage quickly
To ask you if you cared
For me in such a way
No man in many moons dared
I wish there was subtle way
My heartbreak could be spared

I dream we share a night
Dancing and laughing with friends
Like that of a storybook summer
We will pray never ends
If you don’t return the feeling
I’m sure we will make amends
But I’m not sure ill ever quite
Forgive myself for the rends

I’m ready to hear from you
Forget the tricks, forget the games
Hold nothing back from me
Do what you feel, ill take the blame
Go with me headfirst
Lay aside all your shame
Tell me who you love and
in same, tell me my name
