Nothing and Everything
Kayleen Amato Feb 2018
Sometimes I wonder how we have made it this far
I care because you try
I see the effort you put in every day even if it's not for me
The invisible glue holding us together
On top of the fact that love isn't everything
If that isn't love than I don't know what is
Because life is everything and nothing
With you I feel free
To know that I can walk away but I have better things to do
I can be guilty of caring too much about anything and everything
Even when I skrew things up, you still accept me
And we persevere

Rebirth
Kayleen Amato Dec 2017
I stay up sometimes
Not because im not tired
But to break patterns
To protect my energy
To seperate myself of leeches
Disguised as everything
All of us have ever wanted
To keep me immune
To prevent myself from inhaling toxicity
Im willing to watch what happens next

The Art of Grieving
Kayleen Amato Jul 2017
I dont think those painful black memories that live in ancient cracks are bad
They create a font of gothic print
Stamped on the only things in life you've ever loved
They are the hands that open the door for you every time
The ink from the words that drip
Your bones grow back and you become human again
And you have teeth to fight the monsters in your head

One Life
Kayleen Amato Apr 2017
Years of loneliness held into one single moment
All once replaced with distractions
Instead, why can't I just matter?
All my fears gather together to face me and tell me to fight
I am stronger than ever under pressure
Maybe I just fear the unknown lands that wait for me up North
The flock of birds in the sky attempting to guide me
To my birth place where I can plant seeds
The sky has cleared up
Yet I wish I was free
But if I want to be something in this world
I can't just leave
And if I just up and left,
I'd expect you to come with me
What if you didn't come with me

There is a girl
Who always looks like shes waiting
For something or someone
And still to this day,
I take a seat and watch for magic
Perhaps day without night
There has got to be something good
Any normal person would have left already
But the rain pouring down
Tells me she is not to blame
Tells me she has unfinished business
She still belongs to the garden
Giant shiny green plants with teeth
Devour her back into their wrath
Where she incubates
She must prove she is ready

My Love
Kayleen Amato Mar 2017
I want to give my love
I want to share this stuff and keep some for me in a jar,
I want the responsibility of myself
I want to show raw emotions aching in my body
transformed into something light
And we can smile and laugh at ourselves and be playful
I want to give my love
Share a breath
Matter pressed together in little *****
bouncing off the walls
A liberating moment

The New Normal
Kayleen Amato Feb 2017
The rain finally stops pouring down and the sunshine draws out his sword
But a rainbow melts his heart through demonstration
All while green aliens dance in the sky just to celebrate forgiveness
A child rides her bike
But only as a woman decides to go outside for no apparent reason
And while a lonely man fixes his old car in his driveway,
A stubborn young lady argues traditions and ****** old people off
To go home and pace back and forth and fight with herself
A tornado picks up a house with rage
Just to put it down gently and flee
"Hahaha we were just testing you!" Cried the clouds in laughter
A teenager finally surrenders, says thank you to her dad
And gives her mom a hug before walking away

Like Minded Person
Kayleen Amato Jan 2017
A restless cat sporadically clawing and kneading
To feel the carpet's texture in between each finger

And if I keep talking to you
Ill never go to sleep
A soft, humble, shy
Not person
But entity gently caresses
The undefined fragments of myself

Im forced to deny you
**** scared child
The endless tears of the invisible
From dull blue millenniums
cry for help
Unheard

Awakening
Kayleen Amato Jan 2017
Tall trees packed so dense
Lined up almost in an orderly fashion
Patches of soft moss made pillows
Like that's been home all along

A young girl shamelessly smiles
She went on a walk and has not returned
The blue skies miss her
But clouds still nonchalantly float

Friends that look like strangers
Faces of false hopes
Moaning and groaning loudly for help
With stretched arms reaching out

A once chambered breath finally flows
To gracefully dance around
Fruity pink sunrises
An old man frantically sends a search helicopter.

Sunshine
Kayleen Amato Oct 2016
There's a yellow warmth in the darkest of winters
The way a freezing cold wind would feel on a day when the sun blinds eyes

Vivid memories almost tangible
Beautiful like teenagers in old films with lovers
But sour from expired decisions and undecided intentions.

Earth made his first move into the unknown, and you think you know what uncertainty is
Vulnerability is love.

I lay down and I can finally
Feel at home
Oh do I see someone
Actually enduring solitude
Coffee stained teeth
Smiling into the pillow
Because you're finally okay
To accept your own comfort
Society doesn't exist,
Moments just before drifting into sleep.
Mother nature
Finally not manipulated,
Nobody there to pick the leaf off the tree,
You're grip is loosening up,
And in that moment,
Infinite possibilities,
Your mind cant trick you
Any longer
You would have
Gave up
And caught some z's
