Would it be okay

if we played pretend?

if we didn’t have to label this?

if we could share our worlds?

I need this right now.

Would it be okay

if I let you see my wounds?

if you traced them with your fingers?

if you kissed them with your lips?

I need this right now.

Would it be okay

if we went back to your place?

if we drank and smoked too much?

if we fell asleep looking at each other?

I need this right now.

Would it be okay

if we opened all the baggage?

if we accepted how broken our souls are?

if we allowed the sadness to seep in?

I need this right now.

Would it be okay

if we played the music quietly?

if you sang along?

if I listened to your voice?

I need this right now.

Would it be okay

if we acted like life was perfect?

if we kept this to ourselves?

if this moment lasted forever?

I need this right now.
Will we be the
same
in body and mind
when the sun lifts
its head
to prepare for the
grind of the
day to day
normality
we fear the mortality
that we face on
those days
that are dismal
and grey
but you pull me
in close
and I can’t help
but smile
because it might be
awhile, but I know
you’ll be there
to breathe in the dark
and to catch all the
sparks that ignite
between palms
attacking in
swarms
your eyes are
my guide
to those places
of peace
I’m finally at
ease with
the now and the
then and
the possible “when”

Ps 1:1 ¶ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. {ungodly: or, wicked}
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. {wither: Heb. fade}
4 ¶ The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

(King James Version)
When first we met, I thought it cute
that I was sought, you in pursuit.
Your wide eyed look once seemed Divine
Till you told the Western world you’re mine
and then you sang, a bit off key,
That girls should keep their hands off me.
Plus I find it a tad obsessive
When you sewed my name in all your dresses.
As first dates go, ours wasn’t great
So what makes me your lifelong mate?
What once was flattering, I confess
has turned into an awful mess.
When I went Wendy’s for a burger
You heard the name and threatened ******.
We must break it off, I think it wise
that we both start seeing other guys.

Christian, seek not yet repose,
Cast thy dreams of ease away;
Thou art in the midst of foes:
Watch and pray.

Canaan has for thee been won,
Christ triumphant led the way;
In His might possess thine own!
Watch and pray.

In the heavenlies see that land,
Satan would thine entrance stay;
Thou against his wiles must stand:
Watch and pray.
