Flesh without a soul, or a soul without flesh
Our grim friend how scary can you be

With eyes so deep they are deeper than the sea
In depths so deep only you are the key

Come take me down, down to the hanging tree
Show me how this world was full of glee

Your whole life is in black and white
And you’re so much darker than me

A life without owing softness is free
A death without life was always meant to be

There are no keys to the doors of the past
Time will still run by so very fast

With bones so grey and old they are shine like new
His eyes so brightly black they stare through you

Like a hell within hell, cry’s that will never tell
Pray you will never see

I have something for you to hear
Our cravings make it harder to see clear

Don’t you find it just a little funny?
All the crazy things that are done for a little money

Don’t you find it just that bit queer?
We casually pass day by day, year by year

Isn’t it odd to hear?
The very next minute our demise could beckon

Isn’t it what we should adhere?*
Each minute should be full of seconds we cherish

The raven on the roof
He sits up there alone and aloof

I wonder what he does with all his time
I'm sure it is better spent than mine

He can fly so very high
He can get right up and pierce the sky

Sometimes he has a friend
I guess we all need someone to depend

It must be fun to be like him
To fly in the sky till it gets dim

For nearly four years I have watched the raven on the roof
Each day can be fun and joyful; my friend the raven is proof
