I sat in the middle
Between broken words and filthy roads, not knowing which one to take.
My eyes abandoned me, waiting for the world to make a scene
To laugh louder or cry harder than any other
and I did both.
Tip-toe to the tattered fabric
That rips at the seam.

But you were always there.

You were always there like a shadow on a sunny day
Copying my every move just so I could see you.
Then the sun slowly drops beneath the sky
As do you, my shadow close behind.

When out of a clear sky, the bright

Sky over Japan, they tumbled the

death of light,

For a moment, it's said, there was

brilliance sword-sharp,

A dazzle of white, and then dark.

Into the cavernous blackness, as

home to hell,

Agonies crowded; and high above

in the swell

Of the gentle tide of the sky, lucid

and fair,

Men floated serenely as angels

disporting there.

I was never
going to be
enough for you
because I'm not
strong and I'm
not as smart as
you used to tell
me, and you
were so smart-
god were you
brilliant- but you
always used these
drugged-up phrases
and I never kept
your pace at any
point. So why did
we keep trying
when we didn't
get each other and
our hands didn't
even match right
in the first place?
I let you press
your name all
over my body
but in the end
I just couldn't
figure out how
to put myself
in your lungs.

If every grain of sand

mattered much to us,

in our hearts,

then we would

know more what it is

to be G-d,

who loves us all,

every grain.

She wrestled with her sanity like those who couldn't think
Enduring its profanity, the bitterest of drink
And as the taste began to drain from every single pore
The girl who held the cup in hand tried settling the score
But thirsty heads can only take offense to every move
And in the end proclaim defeat, surrender what is due
So spill it out, the time is now, as it has always been
A glass of equanimity, unshakable by whim
"Only love is all maroon."

I wasn't prepared for your
kind of love. It made my
hands burn and my teeth
throb and my chest could
never fill all the way with
your smell- like cigarettes
and toothpaste and old
spice- and sometimes I
think I can feel you but
I'm always
      always
      always wrong and it's
never you. And I think
maybe that's okay.
