Curling up on the sofa
my favorite poet's work in my hands
I sip from my wineglass.

My eyes traveling the lines
written so carefully
to elicit feelings and visions
in the reader.

The orange scruffy cat
cuddles up on my lap
sensing me relaxed
and in need of a friend.

Eyes closing on sweet visions,
I lean back scratching behind the cat's ear
and slip into dreams of sweet
whispers and longings....

deep inside the folds of a brain gone awry
lies the myriad broken answers as to why
one should abide by bondaries given
lest one step into territory unshriven
motes of darkness sparks of flame
leaving no one without blame
burnt offerings brought to the fore
useless meanings given by the score
to mindless chatter building tension
unable to voice a word of intention

Quailing under the flashes of lightening
As the sky is splintered
I run through the rain
Wearing my zippered bright yellow rubber boots
And my vinyl rain shell.

Rainwater splashing high and me
Giggling with delight.
Rubber. Rain. Quail. Flash. Zipper. Shell. Splinter.
For Charmingly Fun.

Sunshine yellow daffodils
hiding pretty garden sprites.

Nymphs abound in the wooded forest
among the trees the brooks the stones.

Bunnies clown on the carpeted earth
frolicking with their forest friends.

Fairies flit about like dazzling jewels
precious stones on winged beauty.
Daffodil. Sunshine. Sprite. Nymph. Fairy. Bunnies. Stones.
For Charminly Fun.

Riding a yo yo
is a difficult thing.

Holding on tight
Lest you go for a fling.

Going down
Watching the string.

Going up
Running like a mad thing.

Staying aboard
Is a mighty feat.

Up and down,
what a treat!
For my son.

Watching the sparks of life
winging around my feeder.

Listening to the chirrup,
tweets, whistles, and calls.

Wondering at the variety
even among such small wonders.

Shapes, colors, behaviors, sizes
every species their own.

Every individual its own.

Wonderous creations.

Bright flashes of red
Give away the Cardinals.

Chick-a-dee-dee-dee
from the capped visitors.

Warning! Warning!
Shriek the Blue Jays!

Loud as a siren
our tiny wrens.

Crowned with a point
the titmouse displays.

Dressed to the nines
the juncos present before a storm.

Sparrows flock about
White crowned ones too.

Nuthatches scampering
like the squirrels around the limbs.

Brown creeper so shy
round and round the trunk.

Mockingbird flashing white on the wing
singing multitudes of songs.

Crows hold caucuses
along side the road.

Whirring wings buzz
Hummingbird zips on by.

Feathered friends on the wing
Speak to nature's diversity.
