Mi Amor
I’d give it all and then some more
For the woman that I adore
My heart would all be but yours
Kiss goodnights and opened doors
Walks along the ocean shores
I’d scale the earth to find its core
There’s no telling what’s in store
When hearts collide, mi Amor

The Last Plateau
Electric skies fill the night
Man overboard clinging to life
But the sea swallowed him up whole
In the mist and foggy glow
Although he tried to reach
Through the bitter cold
He could not reach his last plateau
So he sunk off the east coast
For what reason
No one knows
What led him to his resting place
Caused by the life he chose

Finding Heaven
Disappointment is inevitable
When you’re held in high esteem
People let you down time and again
Although the pain is seldom seen
But the pain does go away with time
It’s important not to dwell
Because you’ll never know where heaven is
If you don’t first go through hell

The Ageless
He was the ageless
One who never laughed
A disposed malcontent
In tempered photographs
Not a smile or a crease
Stone faced, chilled, and sad
Never showing any joy
No moments shared or had
Loneliness in his eyes
Untold history
That led to his discontent
And certain tragedy

The Writer
My mind’s in rhymes
That tell a tale
To convey my thoughts
Succeed or fail
Pen in hand
Hand on keys
Ideas flow
Upon release
Stories
Poems
Word by word
Nouns, adjectives
And of course verbs
These are signs
That give a clue
And give me
Something else to do

Dance With Me
Dance with me
As the music permeates the air
As the ground moves
As the people stare

Dance with me
As the moon smiles down
As the shadows pass
As if no one is around

Dance with me
As the lights flicker bright
As the stars shine
As we take flight

Dance with me

Breakfast
I’ve got breakfast running through my head
Like butter on some toasted bread
Some bacon and a sausage link
Water and hot coffee to drink
Some scrambled eggs and oatmeal too
And tomatoes that I myself grew

Reach For You
Not everything I write makes sense
But the feeling which I writes intense
I’ll crash the waves from on the bow
I’ll venture forth when I have doubts
I’ll protrude through all the pain
And reach for you without delay
I’ll listen to every word you say
Though you hesitate to speak
I am not the only traveler
Returning to my home
Many years I’ve wandered
Often hungry; lost; alone

I searched my inner spirit
I heard my thoughts in poems
I strove to reach my destination
To the place that I call home

I started as a child
And into a man I’ve grown
Each lesson an improvement
The progress that I’ve shown

I’ve dipped my toes in water
I’ve questioned the unknown
I’ve raised my voice in anger
After all I’m flesh and bone

I am the light I see in others
My spirits free to roam
I have the upmost admiration
For the place that I call home

Toxicity
The toxicity of a toxic mind
Can get distorted
Not knowing where to draw the line
Chaos and confusion
Somehow by design
Often gets caught lurking
As it’s seldom hard to find
And is disguised to be the strength behind
The vision of the blind

The Path Of Fallen Leaves
Along the path of fallen leaves‬
‪Holds the mystery of forgotten dreams‬
‪Through the brush and past the trees‬
‪Lies the fruit of all your heartfelt deeds‬
‪No wizards spell or magic seeds‬

When no one else can make you feel redeemed

Beauty Queen
Her back was frail and brittle
But don’t be misconstrued
Her heart was strong
Her will was fierce
And she never came unglued
A beauty queen by any means
Supple, fine, and true
Petite from the ground on up
From any point of view

The Advantage
The advantage
The upper hand
The even score
The master plan
The waiting arms
The warm embrace
The fellowship
The frilly lace
The best of times
The thrill; the chase
The mass amounts
Of toxic waste
The shocked look
On your sunken face
To set the bar
To set the pace
To the finish line
Of a losing race

Red Robin
A red spot in the sea of green
As I stare into the trees
Wings, and feathers, and a beak
Leaves me silent without words to speak
Crowned in all its majesty
Spreads its wings to fly
Swoops and glides to lovers peak
Not lacking skills to try
All alone, not in a flock
A solitary bird
Flying all around from here to there
Leaves me speechless without words
With twigs and sticks it builds its nest
Eyes as black as night with puffy feathered crest
All the while, it chirps and sings
I’m obliged with all the joy it brings

Stolen Glance
A stolen glance
A heartbeat missed
A daydream, of pouty lips
The gentle touch of holding hands
The sacred vow of woman; man
Not the emptiness of a one night stand
But joined together in a whole life span
A daydream in the afternoon
Dizzy; for my heart beats true
With thoughts of you
With thoughts of you

Slight Of Hand
He’s been primed to show us magic tricks
To have us all believe
That it’s all one grand illusion
There’s nothing up his sleeve
The truth hides behind misguided trust
It’s this, you must understand
That our preconceived notion‘s are fooled
With just a slight of hand
Rabbits appearing from out of hats
People coming apart in two
Sawed off at their midsections
You should feel lucky it’s not you
He’s an expert in misdirection
He’s astute, and debonair
But, the rules do not apply to him
So buyer, please beware

Below The Iron Gates
The dogs stooped down below the iron gates
Ready for whatever awaits
Their master seems to be running late
As they sit watching down the road he takes
Any minute; any second now
He’ll be walking down the street
And won’t it be a joyous day
If he’s brought with him some treats.

Faded Memories
Faded
A life once lived
Along with the dust
Gave all that he could give
Memories
Lost with time that’s passed
Trinkets are all that’s left
Of things that he amassed
Subtle little novelties
Time now has forgot
Locked inside a mystery
For answers I know not

Rainbows End
From a drizzle to a pour
Cold raindrops hit the floor
Splashing down where puddles form
Seeking shelter from the storm
No *** of gold at rainbows end
Clues I know not where or when
As gray skies hover overhead
Under covers in my bed
Pitter patter on the roof
Is all I need to hear as proof
As the sound on window panes
Is all that lasts or still remains

The Looking Glass
The sphere of our survival
Wrapped up to shield us in
Fearing to see our bubble burst
Before our lives begin
Like the fairytales before our time
All the stories of the past
Preserved for all eyes to see
Behind the looking glass
If destiny repeats itself
Our freedom is restored
And all the generations to come
Cannot be ignored
Speak up for what you feel is right
Make sure your voice is heard
Because all the power in the universe
Can be traced back to a word

Just to say I can

Just a life force
That moves with the wind

Falling from the sky
Bouncing off my tongue

The wondrously beautiful
Ever changing parts
With a pallet knife is the masterpiece

If Vengeance Were A Faze
Remembrance of the words you said
Locked away without a key in head
Whilst up awake in bed
As sleep is sometimes fleeting
Those words were truly taken to heart
Delving into a brand new start
Ripped up, shredded, torn apart
As if vengeance were a faze

Daybreak
Daybreaks;
A silhouette appears
Barking out loud orders;
Intent to commandeer
The rations provided
A meal of ill content
A smallish tangerine
Slippery when wet
Hustle out the galley
Fall in line and march
Hunger in my belly
Mouth completely parched
Still no sign of enemies
Disseminated plans
Reaching out to the inhabitants
The proprietors of the land
Spread them out, far and wide
Like a shark in shallow waters
Getting swallowed by the tide
All sons and pretty daughters
Hair salons and fingertips
High heeled shoes and bright red lips
In the know, now in the mix
There’s no more time for parlor tricks

Words are in my comfort zone
My home away from home
When written they can convey
And express what’s the unknown
Whatever it is we’re feeling
Or sentiments not shown
Dispersing all of my emotions
But not with speech or tone
If only to make connections
So as not to feel alone
And harness all of my energy
To which I’m seldom prone

As something so beautiful approaches and comes
Eyes tell no lies and I’m stunned by her grace

With her head held up high
Without an existence
And no tears left to cry

Stone Wall
The stone wall divided
To say you’re uninvited
To prosper in and on a foreign land
They came to this decision
From a thought and vision
Of a bitter, cold, and close minded man
He took advantage of his power
In our darkest hour
And spit on the values which we stand.
Full moon lurking in the stark and desolate sky
Moonlight shining down on unsuspecting passers by
Moonbeams and serenades
The apple of my eye
Which can only lead to passion
In the stillness of the night

I run to my nook
My crevice, my cave
Hide in the safety of my cozy

Longing for minutes, for hours, for days
Fleeting moments of past

To the ground beneath my feet
Loneliness and a subtle wind
Shy, yet perfectly discreet
That’s where I retreat
Throw up my hands and sing
To the sky, to the birds
To every living thing
I sing to my own beat
The same song on repeat
The words I do not know them all
But I do not show defeat
