Forgotten
Like a goldfish in its bowl
My memory, my pictures,
My existence, my soul

I’m a survivor,
I make due with what I have
Sizing up my competition
Using only math

Head to toe
In rain or snow
I’ll take you everywhere I go

Dearly beloved
I pushed and shoved
To get to you
My beloved

I bring candy
Flowers and more
Knocking at a steady pace
Upon your bedroom door

To my surprise
I know you lied
With heaven as my witness

To be quite frank
My heart, it sank
Into my stomach
When you pulled rank

To you I give a grand salute
I’ll get to you
I’m now in route

Clear and focused
Mind at ease
Hair in breeze
A sweet release

Took the bait
Must I repeat
Making love between the sheets

Caught in bed
Across the street
In a million years
Never thought you’d cheat

But I was wrong
As the radio plays our song
Crushed in defeat
Under the sun

My emotions
They weigh a ton
Pedal to the metal
Having fun
It’s just another hit-and-run

Down The Bridge
Down the bridges walkway
To the land of the unknown
The sky grows dark and cloudy
Shaped as skeleton and bones
Something evil this way comes
The air is still and cold
Someone that crosses that bridge
Must be daring, mad, or both
I wouldn’t walk in there
If I wore an invisibility cloak
In the haunted forest
Where life is but a joke

Sam
By the standards set by me
I am destined to be free
Of the trivial nature of this world
I travel in the dust
Of the shooting stars I touch
With every fiber ever known to man
I believe in God we trust
As a banker, it’s a must
By the way
I didn’t say
My name is Sam

Making Waves
Making Waves

You’re too young to understand
There aren’t enough supplies to equal the demand
The growing population has gotten out of hand
The earth isn’t big enough, we need to expand

The world is a conglomerate
Companies own the land
They draw our attention
They’re the ones in command
If you don’t fall in line,
They’ll tell Uncle Sam

They’ve got us by the *****
I just hope to withstand
The strong violent nature
That I’ve seen firsthand

Go and buy their solutions
They’ve got all the name brands
This is how they drew it up
It’s all gone as planned

Keep the rich rich
Don’t let the poor take a stand
Keep them repressed, confused, and bland

Every single day, I pray and I pray
Wishing there was something I could do or say
That might make a difference
Where there’s a will there’s a way

It’s time we set in motion
There’s little time to explain
Let’s take a page from the ocean
And go make some waves.

The Pinnacle
In the war against attrition
My white flag’s being raised
I’ve been worn down and battered
I’ve been counting down the days
To reach my pinnacle; my peak

But disaster’s always lurking

Around the bend, down by the creek
Are a multitude of ducks and geese
Gathered around by sunsets peak
Golden skies without words to speak
Just picturesque silhouettes
Before the day is through
And a healthy appreciation

Loneliness
The worst part about being lonely is the yearning
The fire in my heart remains burning
I don’t worry about it too much; it’s not concerning
As the dials on the clock continue turning

Most days it doesn’t bother me
Some days it’s overwhelming
To be with another
Just might keep my heart from swelling

It might be worth getting torn apart
Then again, maybe it wouldn’t
It’s hard to say what would come of it
But it seems to be a deterrent

It’s the notion that keeps me going
When the feeling shows it’s face
Loneliness consumes my thoughts
But I know it’s not a race

Only a moment in the scheme of things
A flicker in the night
That has me thinking of my loneliness
That doesn’t feel quite right

American Dream
They said it’s a free market
That’s how it is today
Start from nothing, work hard, and get paid
Build yourself a life
Have two kids, a small dog, and a wife
But it’s real different
When you’re on the scene
Who’s version is this anyway,
Of the American Dream?

The Grand Stage
The pain remains
As memories fade
When our home
Went up in flames
The loss, the rage
The unexplained
The damage done
The rattled cage
The sunken lines
That show your age
Don’t look away
Just turn the page
For the curtain call
On the grand stage

If A Photo Were A Poem
If a photo were a poem
It would be of you and you alone
Dim light, do a shadow make
For all that there is at stake
Nooks and crannies;
They take shape
A reflection of what light creates
Quality, in a perfection state
Just long enough to resonate

Missing Parts
Tangled in a web of lies
No witnesses or alibis
Just harnessing electric skies
That rain down on our fragile minds
Then picking up a broken heart
For a second chance
A brand new start
No broken pieces
Or missing parts
The condition’s good as new

Skull And Bones
I want to leave a footprint
Saying I was here
I want to make a better world
For the next 1000 years
Maybe I’m delusional
With lofty selfish goals
Or maybe I’m just curious
To watch my legend grow
So I take each day
One each as it’s own
For I know that one day
I’ll be just skull and bones

Three Little Words
When the words from my lips can’t be contained or controlled
And the yearn of my body
Can combust or explode
There’s three little words that I want you to know
That are deep in my heart, and are felt in my soul
When a stare or caress
Does no justice or fails
To express my condition
In the minor details
Just three little words can describe or express
What I know in my mind, and I can feel in my chest
These are the words that I say unto thee
I love you, I love you, could you love me?

Distraught
I am perplexed; distraught
About the violence in my home
When guns are turned on children
Yet it somehow feels condoned
There’s nothing being done
The laws are still unfit
We need to speak up now, and loud, and never ever quit

The Eternal Ponder
The steps were steep and narrow
The destination, great
So I climbed until I got there
And then I had to wait
The line was long and winding
To hear what would be my fate
And came to an understanding
Of my mental state
For a lifetime of wrongdoing
And my evil traits
I was ushered into heaven
I stood at the pearly gates
Then I was sent down into purgatory
As my sins were not erased
And that is where I roam and wander
So that I may contemplate
The evil ways I spent my days
Before it was too late

The Tortoise And The Hare
Shot out of a gun
The race had now begun
Between the tortoise and the hare
Which didn’t seem quite fair
Although it was all in fun
They still fought to say they won
And bring home the title and the crown
As the fastest one around
Head held high, chest exposed
Proud enough to brag and boast
But all in good nature
A good time for all
A race for the ages
As they answered the call

A Mote Of Love
Do you have a mote of love
Still left in your heart
To steal away my blues
Even if we’re worlds apart
To amplify my mood
After all, it was always you
Whom I actively pursued
The words could not leave my mouth
But it’s long been overdue
So my words come out in song
Where was this feeling all along?
There’s always something wrong
Until there isn’t

That comfort that I’d sought
Under distressing situations
I was heavily distraught
I found a relaxation
A feeling of inner peace
I strove from my foundation
To a plateau within my reach
Deserted, I had lost my way
Lonelinesses bitter cold embrace
I did away with my anxiety
It now finally had a face
I was capped to common ground
What I lost had now been found
And the chaos I’d been a part of
Was censured and denounced

The World is a Poem
The world is a poem written in dreams
Daily reminders, packed with rhyme schemes
Through the past, and the present, and future in parts;
Each vying for Truth in good and dark hearts.

So lift up your pen and use it with grace
Erase the flaws and weaknesses of the human race
Should we all contribute but one single verse
I’ll write on your heart if you write on mine first.

But be careful not to write too hard,
For it might pierce the skin
And leave a big scar, for the hearts skin is thin
Be gentle and kind as you would want done onto you
Because the piercing of the heart can seep all the way through

What You Don’t Know
What You Don’t Know

There’s something that’s not right about me
I try to not allow it to be seen
I’ve got it tucked away someplace deep
No, it isn’t conjured up or some kind of fantasy
It’s a mystery
My reality

Depression is no joke
Hanging from a dangling rope
Seems like I might as well
Living in a living hell
Beyond compare
The cave I dwell
My own nightmare
Trapped inside
Passion deprived
And I don’t care
I don’t care

Fed up with myself
Wish I was someone else
Disgusted, without a doubt
Yes, that’s what I’m about

Got no love to call my own
Spent my whole life alone
In solitude
Yes, I’m that dude
It’s for the best
I’m one big mess
And I’m simply not in the mood

Wish I knew which way to turn
Wish I remembered just one lesson that I learned
But maybe I did figure out some things
Like, it’s not always quite as bad as it seems
And sometimes nightmares can turn back into your dreams
Minus the screams
Minus the screams
*Writing frees my demons. I share my writing with hopes of letting people know they’re not alone. I write dark, but my writing is just one tool I use to help me put mind and myself at ease. I find painting to be a great outlet as well.

Color Wars
Listen, how do you protest for a solution?
When the law fails, and fills you up with its mind pollution
I apologize, there’s really no need for this intrusion
Unless, you’re part of the collusion
There can be no substitution
If there is, then it’s all just an illusion
In your delusion-ary
world that we live in
Get committed
To rectify all of the atrocities, high velocities, it’s not a novelty, it’s here to stay
Until we make it change
Why’s this so hard to explain
The fact remains
Justice never applies to those who
complain
They’re restrained
And left for the news outlets to entertain
Pointing fingers at who is to blame
It’s such a shame
When you only see color instead of a name
They were framed
Pawns in the game
The game of life
The pain and strife
Nothings right
That’s our plight
We tried it your way now it’s time to fight
Time to resist
The politics
The rhetoric
Made to disguise the real and blind us with the fake
That’s just my take

She was strong willed and feisty

She closed her eyes and went to sleep
Yet her spirit still remains

Morning sun and sparkling dew
That glistens till the afternoon
As the sun lights up the dim lit room
Trickling down the blades of grass

Like tears of joy the dew doth dry
Not unlike the ones in weeping eyes
A new day dawns, the coast is clear

Warped with spheres
Dissipates throughout the years
Earths gone missing

The more you see, the less you know
Out of our hands

I rang the bell

Through the chute
To parts unknown
Holding on to precious stones
So tight that they turned to coal
Where diamonds hide
And faith runs low

At a moon that’s second to none
Doing its thing behind the back of the sun
And below it, a society echoes its vibe

Held together by only angst
And a hunger to reap its rewards

Into a sea of deadly parts
Deep
Deep into the abyss
Forever
In the holiday spirit
