A Moment Of Reflection
A moment of reflection
A distant memory
You can kiss goodbye those yesterdays
They’ve been swallowed by the sea
I was swooped up by a gale
A forceful gust of wind
I remained cool, calm, and collective
With a Cheshire grin
A twinkle in my eye
As I contemplated sin
A whispered little murmur
I’m ready begin

To What Decree
An apricot coriander
of daffodil dissent
Grew up to emancipate
And then later circumvent
But poutine wine
and dandelions
Coming this way,
Went
Have no degree
As to what decree
They haven’t mentioned yet

Perfectly Persevered
When he was reserved
He got what he deserved
Now all he has are memories
Perfectly preserved
He could pick them out
Of the faces in the crowd
He’d like to tell you more
But what he’d do is not allowed
So he carries on
He goes about his day
In constant contemplation
Of throwing a grenade

Floodgates
The sky opens up above me
I taste tears from way up high
The floodgates open wide enough
For me to take a dive
Sinking in the deep end
I take a gulp of air
Hold my breath and dip below
In hopes to reappear
Until I rise again
Suppressing all my fears
Safe again inside my home
Until the rain all disappears

One Of A Kind
Pristine and deliberate
Champagne on ice
Jewels in the jewelry
Were enough to entice
They sparkled and gleamed
Catching the eye of the queen
With the jeweler now seen
He had accomplished his dream
So he fashioned a locket
Made of diamonds and gold
Exquisite and gaudy
For all to behold
It was welcomed with awe
An inspiring piece
Of art and of beauty
His proud new release
His gift was accepted
With joy and with glee
By the new queen to be
A princess in waiting
By law and decree
An innocent soul
A sweet little girl
Not astute yet to notice
The ways of the world
The darkness behind sunlight
The crooks and the thieves
They take with no conscience
They do as they please
Her locket gave her comfort
She adored its design
She took pleasure in knowing
It was one of a kind

What’s Missing
How do I find you?
Where do I go?
I’d search through the desert
I’d freeze in the snow
My mind cannot fathom
A world all alone
I’ve searched every crevice
Lifted each stone
But I still cannot find you
To have and to hold
And hand you this locket
Made of diamonds and gold

Uncle Drew
I have an uncle Drew
Who really is quite crude
Primitive in his ways
Always walking in the ****
He never seems to notice
He doesn’t seem to care
To have a little decency
And at least wear underwear
But that wouldn’t be my uncle
As he feels the need to share
He’s just a little out of his mind
But that’s neither here nor there

Every Snowflake
If each and every snowflake
Is a day the sun will rise
Then the welcoming in of winter
Is for frigid cold white lies
But if words could go unspoken
Then the gestures in my eyes
Are a crystal clear indication
As to what or whom I most despise

Edens Remains
Through the awe inspiring darkness came
What’s left of Edens remains
The waterfalls and luscious greens
The rock that’s nestled in between
The appreciation of a flawless scene
That unfolds into a vivid dream
And sparks the flare that intervenes
By giving rather than to receive
Which then takes the place of fears
Until they disappear
Not breathing in the air of life
For them to persevere
Thrown away and put to rest
While both forgiving and sincere

The Language Of Love
The language of love
When bodies first meet
Full body elation
From head to feet
Sultry seduction
Done so discreet
Heavier breathing
Pounding heart beat
The thumping in chest
On rapid repeat
Sweating and lathered
From friction and heat

The pieces come together

The picture can be of anything
As a concept or a theme

You may want to give up and quit
But you know that there’s no better feeling

The crack of the whip
Doesn’t sit well
With whiskers or kittens
Or a cat-o’-nine-tails
Leather and laughter
In a distinct frenzied smell

In a hard candy shell
Was it an omen
Or can’t you tell
If it was more of an archway
Than a gateway to hell

And eyes just as intense as a tigress
Amazed by her beauty, I just stop and stared

I’m In Too Deep
I’ve been here waiting
Not sure for what
The storyline
It lacks a plot

It keeps on going
And never stops
The pain keeps growing
I try to connect the dots

I get no answers
For questions made
We shine our brightest
Before we fade

I see little reason
To hang around
I’m in a hurry
To where I’m bound

I get no comfort
From sunny days
The time is now
No more delays

I’m never up
I’m always down
My place on earth
Is underground

Life continues
The world goes on
It makes no difference
Whether I’m here or gone

I don’t mean
To sound so drab
Life for me
Ain’t all that bad

I’ll come around
I’ll find my cause
I’ll bow my head
To the crowds applause

But for now
The lights grow dim
A reflection of
The shape I’m in

Until I find
What will set me free
I’ll kneel down
On bended knees

I feel shot out
I’ve been deprived
I’ll accept
What’s to decide

I’ve got no resolve
My fight is weak
I’m in a hole
I’m in too deep

I can’t get out
I can’t retreat
If I’ve got a soul
It’s fast asleep

I paid the toll
To cross the street
I won the prize
Even in defeat

I played it right
I didn’t cheat
I rolled the dice
And took the leap

On just the chance
Just on a whim
Above the clouds
The sun creeps in

I feel its warmth
Upon my face
It sets the mood
That’s taking place

My eyes are closed
I’m half awake
Not getting sleep
Was my mistake

I listen close
Hear my heart break
It’s so much more
Than one can take

I’m ill equipped
To change my mood
I’m ill equipped
It’s understood

I’m on a journey
Not sure to where
When I arrive
Will you be there?

I need a guide
Someone that cares
Nothing else
Can quite compare

I head to my room
I take the stairs
You gently knock
But I’m unaware

What’s beyond my bedroom door?
What’s underneath
My bedroom floor?

I’ll always wonder
Forever more
Forever more
Forever more
The dark can be all consuming.
Stay in the light.

Out Of Spite
There’s no one breaking down my door
Believe me, rest assured
That if they showed the current score
Your jaw would drop and hit the floor
It’s unfathomable to think
I could just see a shrink
For all of the many thoughts I have
That have me on the brink
The brink of destruction
The brink of despair
The brink of extinction
And I don’t even care
Broken and beaten
Unfit to fight
I’ll pour on the gas
And watch it ignite
Not to die as a martyr
Just to shed light
To a life without meaning
And a death out of spite

Begin
I am just a man with a beating heart
Gazing at the stars and
Looking for a spark
A connection between two
Those two, being me and you
As lightning strikes out in the distance in the dark

I’m sorry you had to wait
I stumbled hard right out the gate
I thought I’d never find you after all
Spent all these years building up my wall
Waiting on the perfect moment it would fall
Fall down to the ground
Rubble all around
No more nights staring at the shadows on the wall

I’m so glad you finally came along
To fill my heart with song
And now we’ll never have to be alone another night
It feels so good to be with you
Doing everything we do
Whether it’s wrong or right
Whether it’s wrong or right

I guess you still don’t know...
Since, I’m only slightly exposed
And if you were to learn who I really am
Would you still want me as your man?
Just know I’m doing the best I can

I shut my eyes to sleep
Instead, I gently weep
Thinking about all the time we spent apart
But thankful that our life’s about to start

We Live
Waking up is always a mystery to me
Opened eyes, stretching out
Taking in the air we breathe

Alive, awake, in the sunshine state
Nonchalant, unappreciative of everything it takes

Just to be alive
Just to breathe in air
Body in motion, motor functions working
As to how?, I’m unaware

How many things must be in sync?
Like an orchestra conducting a symphony
Astonishing to think about
A truly remarkable feat

Each and every day
The machine,
The human body,
Regenerates, re-engages with itself

It conforms, adapts, is aware
Alerts us when in danger
But what is even stranger?
It’s neither here nor there

We still are flawed
Whether it’s in our conscious thoughts
Or ignoring all that we’ve been taught

All the signs are there
The loss, despair
Anger, bitter, unprepared

Emotional, pain ridden
But we prevail
We continue on to an inevitability none of us can escape

And we smile
We enjoy what is to be enjoyed
Because we know it is only for a short period of time that we are here.
