Leopard Spots
Lying in the trees
Behind the leaves and shrubs
A feline leopards spots
And her two fresh spotted cubs
Lying in wait, but always alert
Not thinking of dinner, but what’s for dessert
A feathery pheasant?
Perhaps just might do
To pluck from the sky
From whence it once flew

The Perfect Image
I stood and watched in disbelief
I couldn’t help but stare
The perfect image; specimen
Completely naked; bare
She was a stunning beauty
With pouty lips and long blonde hair
But alas I couldn’t have her
No one said that life was fair

Health > Wealth
Hurried under pressure
They scrambled like little ants
Running every which way
As if in a trance
All throughout the chaos
One stood unabashed
A meager man not well to do
Strapped by lack of cash
He searched with a gut feeling
Contemplating every move
He took not one thing for granted
From the clues inside the room
He persisted; he sniffed it out
Just like a hound dog
Nose to ground
He found it
All sorted out
No more mystery
Never a doubt
He found the treasure
The jewels and gold
The life’s work
Of forgotten souls
He took the treasure
And disbursed the wealth
It’s no coincidence
He valued health
More than his prosperity
That was a burden all the same
As the others continue to run
Forgetting their own names
They run from their own problems
Yet, they somehow find a way
To use the tool that seldom do
And shed their past mistakes
They welcome the chance to prosper
Erase away their pain
He’s encouraged by their passion
And their willingness to change

Your Boundaries
Meet me on the other side of your boundaries
Where vulnerability resists
And the passage to your beating heart
Is proof that one exists
Or meet me in the middle
So that I may soothe your pain
And combat what’s been ailing you
That made you become what you became
The essence of your being
The crystal ball within
The end of the beginning
And the beginning of the end
It at least will serve its purpose
Like when meetings are adjourned
To focus on the soulless
And to all of those concerned

To The Café
She crossed over the brickyard
To reach the café
With the rain trickling down
On a gray day in May
April showers had passed
Until present day
As the rain never lasts
Nor do the clouds ever stay
To the café for coffee or tea
Where the sun always shines
Though Reluctantly

Angry Eyes
Angry eyes
That hide the fear
With danger lurking
Far and near
They tell a tale
Of good and bad
Lost, confused
Angry, mad
Held captive by
A silent stare
That grabs ahold
But is light as air
Constructed
Now under repair
It matters not
Whether here or there

Taking Flight
Will I sit and reminisce
About the opportunities I missed
When focusing on what’s wrong instead of right
Will I stumble all through life
With my struggles and my strife
To end up old and bitter out of spite
Or will I concentrate and learn
Ways that I can earn
A living, and turn around my plight
I must be methodic and precise
Without having to think twice
About how to get my fire to ignite
So I’ll stand up and be strong
And face whatever comes along
Then you can stand back, and watch me taking flight

Paper Pools
I swim in ink and paper pools
You’re the queen of hearts
I’m the king of fools
Whisper as the pages turn
Feel the lust, the yearn, the burn
Whimsical, without concern
Mistakes made and lessons learned
Then punctuate my stained veneer
As the letters one by one appear
Don’t drown in ink and paper pools
Explore your mind and become consumed
Walk in someone else’s shoes
And see things from all points of view

When Time Doesn’t Heal
Time, it is fleeting
Memories fade
But that doesn’t mean that the pain goes away
The ticking of time
The minutes, they pass
But the pain is resilient
And the misery lasts
Long into the future
Despite what has passed
We must remain civil
And always show class
Regardless of all damage
That disable and ****
Time isn’t lenient
But is gone in a flash
There’s no time for healing
It controls and consumes
Our life or the lack of
To escape and elude
All of the hurt
All the abuse
We give to ourselves
To deny our own truth

When I Learned I Could Fly
Without feathers, I’m soaring
I’m light on my feet
Flying past landscapes
The wind on my cheeks
At first, I thought I was dreaming
But I was still counting sheep
So I knew I was awake
And not fast asleep
With my arms out extended
I reached mountain peaks
I flew over oceans
Over the shallow and deep
I thought about landing
Nonchalant and discreet
But instead, I kept soaring
Because the view was so sweet

A casket in a wasteland
Placed on powdered snow
Left to be discovered
In a hundred years or so

Just to perish under stone
Closed off from the elements
To ensure safe passage home
Or spend and eternity, never to be found
Left in solitude; alone

To the warm setting sun
To the chains that would bind me

Transparency
I’ve reached a higher level
Tried to act like it was simple
I thought we’d keep this civil
I don’t eat a lot, just nibble

But I’m still hungry, though
I’ve still got room to grow
You haven’t even peaked
Or caught a glimpse of this one man show

I’ve stepped up my game
Despite feeling ashamed
Clouds above me
Standing in the pouring rain

Somehow I feel relieved
There’s nothing up my sleeve
If you don’t like it, just leave
It’s better to give than receive

My heart is pure as gold
Out the door and down the road
It used to be that I had control
Now I’m doing what I’m told

It’s this way everyday it seems
Always paddling upstream
On your own or for a team
Reality is what’s left of dreams

I’m just trying to make my own way
Living life day after day
Keeping negativity at bay
Finding it hard to find the right words to say

I try and be myself
Not try to be someone else
Throwing pennies down the well
Wishing I don’t end up in hell

I do the best I can
To be a good man
But even I have days
I find it hard to stick to plan

It’s who I am, it’s in my nature
Not to worry, it’s nothing major
Nothing that could lead to danger
Just the departure from our lord and savior

I’ve got my own ideas
On how it looks or it appears
No need to shed your tears
For me, it’s the same year after year

I’m sure things will work out
I don’t have the slightest doubt
Not certain what I’m going on about
It’s just what I do when you’re not around

There are days I pray for rain
A chain reaction for the unexplained
My arms are bound, I feel restrained
My score is low, but at least I’m still in the game

Doing what I can to win
Fighting off what I’m against
Hoping for sweet revenge
And to spend my time with friends

To help me finish out the rest of my day
I cannot sleep though, when you are around me

It’s justified, if I give consent
The law is just a contradiction
In proving that there was intent
Like lost wishes down the well

Without repercussions
So severe it hurts
But I would go to any measure
If it was just to have the pleasure
To listen to the grace behind your words

I have never been so lucky
When push comes to shove
Never to be struck by Cupid
By arrows from above
I think I actually saw one hit
An innocent white dove

It seems they always miss me
By inches, maybe less
It occurs when you’re not looking
Is my only guess
And if it ever finds me
And I am unimpressed
I can then pinpoint my pain
And the cause of my distress

Adams Tale
His smile was a bit rakish
Unconventional at best
He wore a patch above his eye
And a black tattered leather vest
He said his name was Adams
As he sat unsteady at the bar
He asked for a shot of whiskey
Said he had traveled far
He had come across the ocean
To find his missing kin
Said he didn’t know where to begin
But he knew how it would end
So he hopped off of his barstool and wondered
Right through the front door
He hadn’t had a decent meal
Since he came ashore
So he went and had some supper
Then he found a room and bed
He laid down on his side
To rest as weary head
Then somewhere in his slumber
He had a frightening scene
It scared him enough to wake him up
With dancing spiders in his dreams
The next morning he was tired
As he got dressed and left
The thunder shook him in his boots
Heart pounding in his chest
The rain came down in buckets
He was soaked from head to toe
Then he asked everyone he came in contact with
To see what they might now
Until he came across a bar *****
Who said she knew the name
Said she knew his kinfolk
As they scurried from the rain
Then she pointed out a tavern
Said “you can find them there”
Then she went off into the distance
Vanished in thin air
As he made his way to the tavern
He loaded up his gun
He knew who he was after
That they’d been on the run
Then he spotted who he had come for
Aimed the pistol and said
“Do you go by the name of Adams?,
Thou art living and should be dead“
The patrons started running
They left quickly and all fled
It was then he pulled the trigger
And shot each one in the head
Then he collected all their bounties
And returned back to his ship
Geared up for the journey
A long and treacherous trip
So goes the tale of Adams
Of his vengeance on his kin
He didn’t know where to begin
But he knew how it would end
