The Unexplained
He was quiet as a mouse
Trying not to wake his spouse
His lovely wife, Mary Lou Lorain
He tiptoed down the hall
Avoiding every wall
Trying to investigate the strange and unexplained
He was swallowed by the light
On that fateful night
And poor Mary Lou will never be the same
He was taken very far
By something that was not a car
It must’ve been
A spaceship or a plane
He was ******* and restrained
He felt awful and in pain
And he couldn’t even remember his own name
He did remember his spouse
That he left inside the house
But that’s about as much as he retained
Where he was, it wasn’t clear
But he knew that he felt fear
So he made a wish, shed a tear, and prayed

Little Crumbs
I’m inspired
Heart, beating out my chest
Anxious to get started
Impatient, I confess
I’ve been craving
I’ve gone without too long
That tasty little morsel
Eaten till it’s gone
A delicacy of great proportion
I’m hungry to ingest
Every little crumb I find
While cleaning up my mess

The Devils Blues
A simmering groove
A highly flammable beat
A smoldering dance
To rejoice with your feet
They played and they fiddled
It was an honor; a treat
They sang and you felt it
That band had some heat!
They had made a deal with the devil
And now wouldn’t you know
The devil was present, and in the first row!
They played and they played
Until their fingers bled
The sweat on their brow
Had them seeing red
But they played for the audience
They sang to the crowd
Then they looked at the devil
And they said proud and loud
“We can play fine without you
We don’t need you around”
The devil grew angry
And he opened the ground
Then pointed to hell
And said “that’s where you’re bound”
But the band kept on playing
And did not show fear
The devil was beaten
And at once, disappeared

In The Distance
Somewhere in the distance
The world comes to an end
Some call it a horizon
Some call it their only friend
Either way, the sun will set
The moon will rear its head
And gleam just like a lamppost light

My anguish spills onto the canvas
The expressions, I try to convey
They’re projected, using multiple methods
A visual representation, put forth, on display
What I create, it speaks to my vision
My understanding, in tangible proof
It might produce, more questions than answers
But there’s a fine line, between fiction and truth

The Moment
It was only for a moment
Less than a second of our lives
That our two paths crossed
In a place where love thrives

The Perfect Duet
There was no need to fret
The night that we first met
When we sang together
A perfectly matched duet
You struck a cord
While it thundered and poured
To a packed house trying not to get wet
We each sang a verse
For better or worse
With the lights shining down on the set
We weathered the storm
While cozy and warm
On a night that I’ll never forget

Ominous Rose
If the sky is the limit
As far as it goes
Then the furthermost reaches
Is where we’re most exposed
Our bodies unshielded
Brittle and froze
Just to melt and fall downward
And again start to grow
From out of the soil
A fragrant soul
A lily confession
Of an ominous rose

Within Reach
Emerging from a blossomed lotus‬
‪She’d found enlightenment and chi‬
‪A vital element, to be at one‬
‪With all life and energy ‬

‪The pappus of the dandelion ‬
‪Floats away the seed‬
‪Until all have gone, with budding fruit ‬
‪To fertilize and breed‬

To sprout and be reborn
Seeking warmth in rays of sun
And shelter from the storm
That inevitably will come

It’s nature we should nurture
Find balance, inner peace
It’s within our rights to have it
And well within our reach

Counting Down The Days
Are we drifting away?
Is there something that we’re headed towards?
Will it always be the same?
Or are you just manipulating my life force?

All we have is today
We’re probably headed on a collision course
Unless we show some restraint
And find a way back to the original source

There’s got to be a way
Because I know it’s my will
There’s so little left to say,
And still....

The facts still remain
They’re hard to explain
But if you look closer
The truth can be attained

I’m not going to lie
My heads in the sky
I’m counting down the days
I finally open up my eyes

I’m fighting off the deep pain I feel down inside
Want somewhere to run to
Want somewhere to hide
I’m counting down the days

I’m set in my own ways
Nothing to amount to
Even harder to explain
With only me to blame

I’ve built up my walls
Where every brick is suspect
Hoping something falls
So I can finally have some respect

I cleaned the bathroom stalls
I’ve danced in great big halls
I’ve washed off every dish
I swung hard and missed

Where’s the next step taking us?

An Affair With Words
An Affair With Words

‪She’s having an affair with words‬
‪Through the pages she can read‬
‪With each new page, an adventure awaits‬
‪Where her mind can go be freed‬
‪From different times in different lands‬
‪Her focus does seem to be in demand‬
‪From women and from man‬
‪But alas, her love could not be had‬
Words took her to places
She no other way could go
She didn’t need their faces
Only a romanticist quote
She was having an affair with words
Words kept her spellbound
It was words that whispered in her ear
That made the sweetest sound
Words are what called out to her
Words put her in a trance
They helped her all along the way
Until she found true romance

Precision Personified
I saw you in the distance
You knew nothing of my existence
Until your arrival
When you offered me some assistance

I didn’t turn you down
My jaw fell to the ground
Not sure what I would’ve done
If you hadn’t been around

I suppose I’d still be searching
For connections far and wide
Millions of blank faces
That make up my paradigm

That’s just an example
For a length of time
New things to discover
Despite the daily grind

Being open to new ideas
It must have slipped my mind
I couldn’t decipher the hidden truth
From your creative lies

I’m not disappointed
The big picture’s by design
There’s no reason to deny it
No cause to be unkind

My heart is protected
By a force you can’t contrive
A thick steel door without a key
And no one there to bribe

I know the secret password
To go through the pearly gates
I was sent an invitation
Despite protesting my fate

Time is a fickle thing
The seconds so precise
Your adventure through this life
Has opened up my eyes

I have a new perspective
A new outlook on life
I have you to thank for this
Not once, not twice, but thrice
Wrote this poem in a local pizza place.

Along The Tracks
Along the tracks
The train stood still
It lost its way
It lost its will
For the strength to carry on
The path ahead
When its will was strong
No more coal,
No self esteem
So the train stood still,
And in-between
The starting point
The final lap
This train fell;
Right off its track

The ruler that can measure love

Is one that celebrates your memories

Then come to a compliance
And if you lose your train of thought
And you resort to only violence
Then register your fists, and make sure that they’re licensed

Out of my hands

Please don’t say

Stop in action
***** clothes

Built to last
The legend grows
All ten fingers
All ten toes

Heavy breathing
Through my nose
The one that lives
The one she chose

In the desert
In the snow
An avalanche
Churning down the *****

Not too hot
Not too cold
Always doing
What you’re told

Way too young
Getting old
Too revealing
Too exposed

Break a leg
Frightened; froze
Large bouquet
One red rose

Happy ending
End of show

No Time For Goodbye
There’s become something evident
That’s to my own detriment
I feel like it’s just a matter of time
Before I meet my maker
It’s no maker or breaker
The punishment just fits the crime
In a world with corruption
Lies and disruption
We failed in a lasting design
Evil roams free
Despite faith or belief
Which makes it not such a difficult bind
On one hand I leave earth
Of which I’ve hated since birth
Because my situation
Felt beyond my control
But what could I do?
I was young, with no clue
And I never had a sense of self-worth
Now that I’m older
I’ve got pain in my shoulder
And I haven’t accomplished a thing
I’ve fought and I’ve clawed
Excalibur sword
But I’m sick
And I’m too tired to swing
I know a likes just a tap
Not to sound like a sap
Or make you feel like you’re being kept on a string
But believe it or not
Just to sweeten the ***
I’m raffling off my old set of wings

A Breath of Fresh Air
My thoughts are in the distance
I am humble, yet prepared
For an unexpected bounty
That I’ve been made aware
A beam of light, a shedded tear
Can make my woes all disappear
A cry for help, on stomach bare
Bounds overstepped, I do not dare
On eggshells now I walk in fear
For words are spoken with utmost care
Hands together for a moment shared
I breach the seal and breathe fresh air
I hurt my knee when I fell
I felt faint like a spell
A collision between me and the floor
I had a bit of concern
When my leg twist and turned
Now it doesn’t hurt anymore
My balance grew stable
And now that I’m able
To walk when before I could run
I don’t mind it though
I come and I go
At least I can still have some fun

I Am Not Alone
I am not alone
Despite my empty room
I am not a hopeless man
Which loneliness consumes
I devour every second
Of every moment of each day
And I’ll always have a comeback
For anything I have to say
I take comfort in my solace
The peace is music to my ears
I don’t waste my time with mundane rhymes
That I’ve been writing down for years
And if I choose to share it
It’ll be with words upon a page
That releases any tension
Or aggressive pent up rage
I still strive for my happiness
But I’m a bird inside a cage
That wants to stretch his feathers
And make a decent wage
Shall I conform and be resilient?
Shall I choose to trust again?
Or shall I continue on the path I’ve chosen
And stay my only friend?

The Burden
I love the things you say
When you’re lying next to me
You help me to explore my dreams
And the places we’ll see

Your smile is all inviting
The creases in your cheeks
Your eyes are so enticing
The whole package; everything

Your beauty is boundless
Your essence unique
Your presence is essential
To make me complete

No hell or high water
Could make me retreat
To a life that’s without you
It would mean my defeat

We could never be equals
You’re as strong as I’m weak
Brace yourself for a windfall
If it’s chaos you seek

I’m the seeker of angels
Not a lost son of thieves
You kneeled down beside me
In my greatest need

I’ll always be grateful
Words we needn’t speak
Our love is what binds us
And that is what’s key

They cannot divide us
Despite the havoc we wreak
It’s what’s inside us
It’s our way, our technique

When you combine us
It’s strength at its peak
It’s the burden we bear
And yet, I seek no relief
I long for the person I’m writing this to.
