An eagerly awaited walk
Through the woods, past trees
A little boy with his trusty dog
Scurry through the leaves
Autumn shows it’s colors
Weather perfect to wear jeans
In the woods, they whisper
Their secrets in the breeze
I let it win
It took control
I held it without letting go
It held me back
The fear surpassed
The closing act
To events of past
I gathered strength
I forged ahead
Continued on with life instead
I carried on
With scars as proof
Now just faded events
Of a forgotten youth
The skies cast a periwinkle blue
Over vast stretches, in plain view
Along the boundless horizon
Over waters edge
Where the two connecting blues
Inevitably meet again
To decipher where the ocean and the sky begin
Your silence whispers only secrets
Should I ignore it?
Should I explore it?
Should I wake and greet the day?
Or should I unlock a window
Open it, and pray?
While I listen to all your secrets
As means of an escape
My ‪first kiss is with my coffee ‬
‪To wake and start the day‬
‪It’s strong pungent aroma ‬
‪Is by far the only way‬
‪To be approached at morning ‬
‪Before I’ve had my sip‬
‪Is to gamble, and put your life at risk‬
‪Before my coffee hits my lips‬
It’s brewed with love
The grinds are pure
From overseas
It came ashore
To be put in my cup
So that I may drink it up
I will never have that kind of love
That simmers over heat
The kind that fulfills desires
And tiptoes past deceit

I will never have that kind of love
That grabs and won’t let go
That pulls you into a warm embrace
Still with room to grow

I will never have that kind of love
That beckons every nerve
With every fiber of my being
Every extremity and curve

I will never have that kind of love
That suffers when you leave
Every second that you’re gone
I suffocate, can’t breathe

I will never have that kind of love
That shadows cannot find
That hides in open daylight
And stays with you stride for stride

I will never have that kind of love
That toils with my care
That sings with joyous harmony
Whenever we’re a pair
The sun rose without a thought
An uneventful whim
Casual and nonchalant
For the day to now begin
Hovering the horizon
Amidst an amber glow
Shedding light on the earth
The true star of the show
