Our bravado with our fists on hips
The patriotic stance
An image of a hero
That fails with every chance
The people I looked up to
Where freedom was enhanced
Ignored by all that turned their backs
As if they’re in a trance
Fixated on a notion
Down the beaten path
That nobody’s agreed upon
But life comes at you fast

Release is near approaching
Counting down the days
To be free and be redeemed
For the weak in which he prayed
He’s no longer stuck in his old ways
His mind is clear of sin
At least he’d have you think
As he says so with a grin 😈

I keep my secrets in my diary
With words unspoken and unseen
I piece together outcomes
The way I think they ought to be
But mostly I write down my thoughts
To get things off my chest
Then I contemplate what comes next
And try to figure out the rest

A community of artists
Creatively unique
They rival any artists
With their precision and technique
Their passion and their love
Comes through in their work
They’re peaceful, but eccentric
And they have a multitude of quirks
They’re masters of their craft
They’re healthfully consumed
They love to paint the ceilings
With a wooden handle broom

A tear falls from her eye
Thoughts racing in her mind
Pleading to the sky for mercy
Her lovers now passed on
He taught her to be strong
Now she only drinks her wine
when she is thirsty
This helps to ease her pain
For the feelings that remain
A broken heart is still worthy of a mending

A thunderous ovation!
He bowed down to the crowd
It lasted for a minute
The crowd was very loud
He stood there with conviction
His performance was elite
In the role in which he played
A liar and a cheat
There was no room for error
So he rendered it complete
As he smiled at the roses
Gathered by his feet
