Maybe you're right
                    You look very pretty today
I've been thinking...
What are you talking about, I don't like her.
You're funny.
                    I think you're cute.
Want to come over later?
Will you help me with the math?
If I kiss you will you shut up?
It's been a long night, just go to sleep.
Can we just lay for a bit?
We're on episode three not four idiot.
Yu-Gi-Oh or Lord of the Rings?
(Then again, this would never happen.
You and your pretentious attitude
would never sit through three hours
of exploration of Middle Earth)
Did you do something different to your hair?
I may be drunk tonight,
but you'll still be beautiful tomorrow.
                    Please stay.
Your illusive superiority can be attractive sometimes.
                    I secretly like you.
You've been on my mind a lot.
My phone's broken, but can I message you or something?
Last year, when you completely embarrassed yourself
and I turned you down? I was really dying to say yes.
This is my first poem, and I'm kind of really bad at the whole aspect, but I'll try.

Elizabeth
With the ferocity of a lion
The blood of an Englishman
The angst of a pure-breed rotweiler,
She forced upon herself the truth behind all her lies
The secrets which she kept hidden under security blankets, locked in the vaults of her ancients' pasts

In the raging fire, in the blessed fire she spoke the truth, her truth

A blessing so sacred an angel shames away

A time of love gone wrong, broken tragedies the strongest weep at

She leaped forward, aching to project her knowledge of enlightenment to her world
But she had to start at the bottom
She had to first get her disciples to just listen

With an idea so powerful it possessed the ability to change the world,
She sat dormant with the information that could break walls, heal wounds, and erupt stars
Nobody understood the power,
A girl cannot grasp the world in such a manner,

Oh the doubts of mankind. Bless the children gifted from God to inherit the ability to mystify, to entertain.

Give them the courage of the tiger, let them explode through the fangs of the jaw, let them wrestle the tongue of this beast and conquer
Take the reins and converse the knowledge people believe you don't possess, and prove them wrong eternally

Sub Rosa
We found the table overcrowded
with empty wine glasses,
smudged with lipstick
and fogged with
mid-sip laughter,

You sat across from me,
staring disinterested
at the bustling table,
a drunken lot of babbling,
over-dressed, under-clothed women.
They were a swarm,
a cluster of buzzing worker bees
enjoying a loose night in a filthy bar.

Like the good lady I am,
I crossed my legs
and watched the purse of your lips
relax
into a grin.
I was ******* down the champagne,
sick with envy for the lipstick
that clung to your pout
and furious at the curtain of caramel hair,
begging my fingers to smooth the knots
and then mess it all up again.

When the table cleared,
and we were left,
calling cabs in the reaches of dawn,
you stole glances at my jewelry
and the jade of my irises.
They absorbed your aura
as you strode clumsily towards the blue taxi,
while I was busy imagining what your name might be
if you thought my dress was pretty,
or if you thought my perfume
would taste like berries
if you kissed it off my neck,
your heels had clacked all the way to the street.
and maybe it was
the curves under your silk purple dress,
or the smell of spilt wine on my black one,
or perhaps a combination of both,
that led to my overactive imagination,
or maybe you put them in my head
when you hesitated at the door of the cab
before beckoning me over
and pulling me in beside you
onto the cold leather
and your lavender fabric
where your perfume permeated the backseat.

It tasted of honey and roses.

You are all drowning in nothing but your own worst fears
Struggling to breathe through the thickness of your anxiety
Slowly dragging your aching muscles to the surface only to lose all progress at the slightest push
Your lungs feel as though they are about to collapse
Your stomach is in knots and your mind is a mess
You hope to die in the midst of your struggle to reach the surface
You find yourself praying without any belief in God, just hoping for a helping hand
A hand that will pull you from the freezing water that has become your life
The water that has filled your lungs, your stomach, your mind
Anxiety
A feeling that washes over you with every thought, every movement
