The House was a flutter with lawyers galore. Files were stacked from ceiling to floor. The media waited breathlessly for the gavel to fall, impeach them one impeach them all. Phone calls had been made and text messages had been sent. This is it this is the event. As Pelosi took the stage, all of their hopes and dreams would come true. Just waiting on the vote that all they could do. As the roll was called, one by one they said yea. The democrats had 218, they won the day. With all of the House Republicans in unified dissent. It was over, an on Impeachment went. From the floor of the house in a blink of an eye, on the Senate they thought we have this guy. While in the White House with not even a frown , President Trump was making a deal with the Chinese. When someone came in and said it was just on CNN, they passed the impeachment, this is the end. The President just looked with a coy smile, he said I think I will be golfing for a while. As the papers were cleared out of the House, the building became as quiet as a mouse. On to the Senate all in disarray, let us end the President let us do it today. Then what appeared to the Democrats dismay, but Mitch McConnell to get in their way. With his neatly placed glasses centered on his round face. he took all of the joy out of the place. Like a Grinch that stole Christmas, he said with a twitch, you will not impeach him, I am not giving an inch. So with stacks of papers and boxes of legal briefs, the impeachment charade came to an end. Another failed attempt and the Democrats had lost again.

When friends have forsaken us and loved ones have passed away. When age has crept up on us and we come to the close of the day. In still silence we will see our truest selves and wonder what we could have done. Then in that moment , we find reassurance from the only one that matters. When all things are gone and God is all that is left, that will be enough.

We are going through growing pains, the world around us is changing. We are going in many directions . The old way of doing things is fading and new ideas are emerging. The problem is that it is happening all at once. Chaos seems to be the order of the day, but there is nothing new under the sun. The mountains and oceans have seen empires rise and fall, yet we worry about a few seconds that go by so quickly that we do not see them. In the end, something new will be born. What it will look like is hard to say. The only thing of which we can be sure, is that in some way we will survive. As with all changes, we will simply have to wait and see what will happen to us.

We are children, playing at adulthood. Our measure of time is minimal. Like Ants or Grasshoppers we move around. One changes the environment the other exist and dies away. Nature measures time in Eons while we palpitate when we loose a few seconds that we deem to be precious. We think we matter, we think we can undo what it took Millennia to accomplish. Nature works slowly but deliberately. Sometimes it takes leaps forward in one instance and in others it creeps along age after geological age. As the Ant who's colony can be wiped out by a strong rain, or the Grasshopper who is ended by a frost, we are here but a moment and are fleeting. We play at the religion of the moment, then we die away. Ideologies change and points of view differ. In one century we reach for the stars, then in the next, we are using stone tools because creation changes it's mind. How much do we really affect a natural balance that shifts like the sands of a desert? Does climate change, the answer is yes. With political opinions, or mass cataclysms climate changes, but do we really have anything to do with it at all?

The dust falls off of the flag as the soliders quietly salute. The stars and stripes ripple beneath a pair of well worn boots. An honor guard walks ahead of the covered coffin, another fallen son. Children weep silently, dad's work is done. On a TV people scream, but they do not understand the sacrifice that our sons and daughters have made for this land. In quiet repose a coffin sits awaiting 21 guns, before being laid in hollowed ground where others have gone before. At last a solider has come home from another foreign war.

Men and women come home from war with limbs missing. Their body parts lay in the dirt of some foreign land. American blood stains another person yard, and yet they keep standing for what is right. Our children can't pledge allegiance to our flag but burning it is okay. Our politicians open our borders but American children cannot go out into the city streets and play. Drugs and violence end innocent lives while politicians complain about civil rights, unless you try to mention God or own a gun then they say you have no rights.  Our leaders turn their backs on their own people while running down the land of the free. If the haters of our country had their way they would take all our freedoms away from you and me.

Hobbits had their holes and dwarves shook mighty mountains with their picks in an endless quest for gold. The forest were alive with elves and fairies and birds could talk to men. Dragons and eagles soared under the sun. Men built cities on the water and sailed on mighty ships across dark seas. How wonderful it was when the world was magic and perhaps can one day be again.
