She's dark, yet
moonlight glows
inside her soft-eyes
& despite her
tragic-aura,
I still want
her blackness,
to taste her magic,
to kiss
the devil inside her.

Lost
The Boy
 Apr 2014 James Jarrett
Lost
You were the boy who always kept his head down
Looking for the cracks in the pavement
and the lost constellations in the dirt
You never glanced up, and I never caught your eye
Because you were too busy trying not to trip
But what if I promised to catch you
And what if I promised I'd watch for those cracks
and when I found those constellations lose within the depths of the ground
We could share it over the stars and a few lost nights
of tossing and turning as our hearts beat
together over no sleep
This poem kept popping up in my head over a few days and I decided to write it down since it was floating in my head.
I say too much
or not enough
it annoys them
the troubled ones,
but - their ego
doesn’t alter
the truth
behind
the moon.

let us bury these words in a hole in the earth
cast petals like bullets and spit ash to the casket
fill in the void with cement and dirt
condemning them to eternal darkness
imprint our hands and our feet just to prove
that we are the ones left living
let us dress all in black - smile until our jaws ache
and scream to the cathedral ceiling

let us shoot every dove and roll in the feathers
tear out each page of the books that dictate us
and sing in the graveyard to show our remorse
kiss each tombstone with a fist just because
we are alive
we, the ones left living
that should know better than this
that's the beauty in "life,
it belongs to no man"
so he may take what was never his

you didn't realise your hands were gripping
but i'm telling you, let go
let every bad decision you ever made
fall like dead flowers into flame
all is finished, the earth is still

let me lie underneath a multitude
of what should've been ours
laughing at our oblivion
to hide the catch in my throat
checking my pockets for time

and finding only ashes
