Words

Words that are soft and gentle,
Caring, caressing, nurturing,
Praising, admiring, loving,
Encouraging, trusting, honoring ……..
Words imbibed at the mother’s breast,
Are soon lost – to survival tests.

Razor sharp replacing words
Learnt in the classroom of life can be
Acidic, biting, searing, scaring
Accusing, rebuking, flaying,
Soul destroying, scathing, abusing…

To unlearn and erase these rapier thrusts
Needs soul searching heroic impetus,
Come; let us undo this humanity’s curse
By taking a vow of Silence at Birth.

life Unfolding

When, the rainbow has bled its colors,
Lying as dust 'neath ones feet
When, the magic finally wears thin,
Tattered as an old moth's wings.

When, the stardust haze settles down
Revealing reality, with its thistle crown,
When, once graceful limbs have slowed their pace
Our burning ambitions having lost or won the race.

Then, some four score years or more
Life's purpose begins to unfold,
Then, ever seeking, all one finds
Is the "Self" in the Divine.

Sixty  going sixtyone

A name, I seek in my heart today...
The name of one, who is lost to me....
Of the one who stood by me, in all times,
With whom I shared life's joys and sorrows
Every new year, a reminder of the missing one
"Shashi" the spirit lies buried deep within my soul.

Visit to the psychiatrist

The “more Sensitive Ones”,
  The delicately balanced beings,
Those living on the edge of life,
“Feeling” more than “living” it seems.

Needing to be nurtured and cocooned,
  By the mentally well adjusted,
    Or by the full-blooded buffoons
Who keep them,- in life- interested.

Do gently but surely tug,
   Into the deep dark depths
     Of their own despairing,
        Melancholy, Inverted selves.

Till both breathe as twin souls
   Mirroring each other.
    Both forever, left wondering
      Who has violated whom?

" Mind"  ... a Burden

             Do they have brains God!
             these scurrying,hurrying,busy little ants?
So fixed in intend, so large their burden
Overcoming all; and to what end?

Do they even know Dear God!
That life is short and so uncertain?
A heavy boot, a gust of wind
And for them, its the curtain.

Do they not think Sweet Lord!
To put down their load awhile?
to savour or bemoan their lot in life,
why carry on regardless, for the good of their kind.

Why do We have brains My Lord?
when it would have served mankind
Just as well as these tiny ants
To work ,live and perish without a thought.

No NIRVANA for me

I've drawn up the bridge  and  flooded the moat,
I've clanged shut the iron gates of my mind.

Pulled down the shutters on the twin windows to my soul.
All gates of perception, have I tried to lock bar and seal.

From whence, then, this ray, penetrates some hidden desire?
which ***** in my armor has given in to greed?

Greed of a better self,  greed of the best for others,
Boundaries of greed merging, into one another.

how do I die to separation,
to experience unity,

having experienced unity,
Why do I die to it and breathe free in separation again,

why thoughts banished and thought overcome,
return stealthily yet again, with added fervor.

Having tasted the sublime,
why do I go back to the mundane yet again.

Shifts in my reality and illusion a never ending circle
how do I put one genie back in the bottle forever.
