What can you say
out there in the fog
in want of your old flame
you burnt your last log.

The memories are hot
the pain you remember
beneath all the ashes
that last glowing ember.

Don't bother to fan it
there's no fuel to burn
let it go out
save the ash for the urn.

Turn your attention
to the wood
that needs chopping
do something worthwhile
like sweeping and mopping

Sweep out the soot
and mop up your tears
clean out the attic
let go of your fears

Put on the blues
then something upbeat
get on your warm clothes
walk out to the street

Follow it down
to the steaming creek bed
the mineral water
is something it's said

Melts away saddness
and heats up your head
without all the smoke
without all the dread

Don't need a fire
the water is good
cleans away everything
and better than wood

The Word is water
still living and true
all that you need
all that you do

Lie back in the warmth
pulled free from the mire
be free and be healed
and forever on fire

you take the wheel
and I'm left standing there weeping
you won't turn back
that's just the way that you feel
it doesn't matter much, 'cause soon I'll be sleeping
time and again my heart heals.

waiting around
well i'll wait for a season
seasons will pass
think it's all in my head
I'll buy a calendar and ponder the reason
some things are best left unsaid.

This is my song
though the music is fleeting
and these are the words that are harder to sing
i'll write about it since there's nobody reading
nobody's needing a thing.

another mistake with a miserable ending
questioning why I'm left standing alone
I'll pour my heart to the woman who's tending
love has a mind of it's own.

Here are some words, honey
free for the taking
leave him alone don't be there when he phones
change your number and be done with the aching
you've got a life of your own...
you'll have a love of your own.

This is my song
though the melody's fleeting
and these are the words
that are harder to sing
I'll write about it since there's nobody reading
nobody's needing a thing.

another mistake with a miserable ending
questioning why I'm left standing alone
he tore my heart out, now I'm left with the mending
love has a mind of it's own

Yes,
I saw time stand still
in a fraction
of a second...peace

Saw it happen
as one touched another
in affection...peace

Caught the essence
as Jesus
fed the mulitude
and a mother's smile
nurtured
her child...peace

Yes,
I saw time stand still
as the bright summer moon rested
on a chimney top
and laughter
ruled the night...peace

Felt temporal illusions
vanish before a portrait
by Rembrant
capturing the subject's
inner spiritual psyche
as inspired men
cast off
their heavy macho ways
and hugged...peace

Yes,
I saw time stand still
as smiles lit the darkness
and tears
washed away sins...peace...peace...peace

It's for me on the  tree He endured agony,
What a beautiful thought to my soul;
It was love and for me, what a sight Calvary,
It was there that He ransomed my soul.

Dearer than gold , dearer than gold,
Yes , the Saviour  is  dearer than gold,
Dearer  than  gold , dearer  than gold,

There is no other plea, and for sinners like me,
How enticing Thy Word to my ear,
When Thou came seeking me that as mortal to be,
Perfect love hath now cast out all fear.

Through the stripes laid on Thee, there is healing for me,
Balm of Heaven my sickness to cure,
Thy compassion I see, reaching wide as the sea,
For Thy promise is steadfast  and sure.

Though the ages I'll know of the sufferings , He bore,
Mercy soundeth  like  harps out  of Zion,
And the sages of old , they shall sing of this lore,
All the glory to Judah's great Lion.

Let the sinner now know, Christ hath crushed the great foe,
Cruel  Satan, thy siting is  no more,
Hoist the banner to show that through faith we shall go,
And that boldly , through Jesus our Door.**

the darkening sky, like a sad song
lending peace to my sorrow inside
and just like a lover, that storm cloud will hover
'til that which it bears cannot hide.

it comes without rain, uninvited
yet welcome for that which is brings
my smoldering heart is ignited, excited
blue-gray plays the drums with my strings

at first with the wind chimes, the thunder
like a lump in my throat to my ears
and clouding my vision, that gray-cloud's incision
soon opens and pours down it's tears.

*I gaze out at dancing rain faeries
bouncing off sidewalk and street
I watch with pure joy, like a child with a toy
the release from my heartache so sweet!

and soon the excitement exhausted
no weatherman needs to announce
the sky's a bright mist, my face has been kissed,
there's no hurt left within, not an ounce!
written during the onset and outpouring of very heavy storm, and noting the effect it has on my heartache. good stuff.
