... Totally Eclipsed ...
howard brace Jul 2011
I have found what was lost in times past and beyond
this present earthly mantle,

But with chagrin was too late, gesture ******* at fate
pray God, I find love once again,

Once clandestine, I gave my heart
knowing it was yours from conception,

From the dawning of time, it belonged to you
part of a plan in Gods Master Creation,

For the attraction I feel, as a lodestone to steel
am one planet revolving the Sun.**

... Pearl In A Shell ...
howard brace Apr 2011
Your mother bloomed as rose blossom
with a smile so serene for all to see
as only possessed by a mum in the making
before in this world you ventured forth.

With lifes mystery within her gaze
and emotions that make a woman complete
two people in one , for nine month were you
carried in safety and comfort and warmth.

Then petite hands for security clung
when ambrose and warmth were all that you knew
rosebud lips at the breast for comfort would nuzzle
a pearl in the shell of an imperfect world.

You are as you grow at your mothers side
hers you are to watch over and guide
the mistakes of a child she knows you will make
to admonish with love, only she may chide.

And when you are troubled your mother is there
to fight and defend every step of the way
and will share with you times, happy and sad
your best friend she will ever remain.

For until her feathered nest you leave
a bed you have to curl up warm
all you recieve from your mother is given
you're still carried within her womb called home.**

... Room To Let ...
howard brace Apr 2011
The sign that read 'Room To Let'
hanging in the window of my heart
was removed from the pane, long ago
and discarded, was thrown in the rain.

For if ever to flee from the vacancy you filled
then derelict I'd lay
stone by stone torn away
for you are the cement of my heart.

But if stay you would, and tenancy take up
the key to my heart would you own
and with love would I paint, and decorate
the room that is yours in my heart.

Title deeds to my love would I also transfer
complete with all fixtures and fittings
for the property you'd own is fully furnished my love
no longer so lonely and cold.

With central heating installed, double glazed wall by wall
in my heart you'd be cozy and warm
wrapped safe from the world, in the womb of my heart
adorned with contentment and love.

Only then would you truly own my heart
my own no longer more
the most precious gift that I possess
please take, and hold it with care.

It's given quite freely
with my blessing and consent
a freehold property
handed over, all legal and meant.**

... Just Goodbye ...
howard brace Apr 2011
'Just called in passing, to see you'
a walk down memory lane
needed to prove my sanity
wanted to ease the pain.

'Just on my way to the Chemist you see
to hand over my Doctors note
It's quite a long list he prescribed me
look ... it's here in my duffle-coat'.

'Just heard you'd moved back in the area
someone had mentioned to me
you live on the way to the Chemist ...
yes, a nice part of town, I agree'.

'Just so lovely to see you in these parts again
you've been missed by all, I can tell
if only I'd known you were coming back
I'd have helped you move in as well'.

'Just after my Doctors appointment
I call in for my daily coffee
we must do it together at some point
and go out for afternoon tea'.

'Just for old times sake, no strings attached
they've just opened new tearooms you know
we could recall the good times ... well
perhaps some other time you'll go'.

'Goodbye'**

that once with pride did swell
now filled with grief and emptiness
where bitter sorrows dwell.

lay darkest clouds immense
where in my gaze, heartbreak plays

Eyes across a noise filled room
those eyes that held a distant glance
a gaze that spoke far more than words
then torn away, the moment lost.

One moment of time, held in a smile
drifting away, forever gone
but that tender moment still remains
as the sweetest memory lingers on.

... Born All Alone ...
howard brace Jul 2011
Two seperate People, individual are we
born all alone and will pass just the same
but I would go first, to be your guide
your way not to loose, my direction must go.

As we reach for the sky, beyond points of return
life's runway grows short, the further we go
for I will be there, to show you the way
from departure point, on our charted course.

On achieving life's goal, a stranger must pay
the toll that will open life's final door
but enter, go first, to pave your way
through the tunnel of shade, we must all journey through.

Then when we are told once more to return
to the place they call life, down below
then we shall go back, to realms of the mortal
together, once again, as before.

This way have we passed more than once before
and surely will pass more than once again
for I will walk through, Heaven's gate with you
for my love, for my love, transcends the grave.**

As long as you are in my life
my world will keep revolving ... as it should,
as long as you are in my world
my life will keep on turning ... and it does,
for my head continues spinning
and my smile persists in grinning
for this love is just beginning
... it's understood.

As long as you are in my life
my heart will keep on beating ... as it should,
as long as you are in my world
my mind will keep on dreaming ... and it does,
with your name, my ears are ringing
and with love my eyes are singing
for I know our love is winning
... it's understood.**

howard brace May 2011
Please don't be offended
for I dare not be too prone
to read anothers written word
that may supplant my own.

Please don't think me selfish
should I not reply,
the words I read may influence
the style that I apply.

Please don't feel affronted
I do not mean you wrong
for just like you when writing
my verse, is my own song.

... Autumn Tears ...
howard brace Apr 2011
Walking paths having trod before
Mother Earth as she turns from the grave
... looks away
for in leafy mounds, dying lay hidden
remains once kissed by Summers Sun.

In widows weeds of shriveled green
her poor face stained with Autumn tears
she walks the lanes of fallen life
as weeping trees bend low their heads.

Huddled within her threadbare coat
in worn-out shoes, she mourns the loss
and bids farewell to all she knew
as shades of sorrow haunt this land.

Her tears from heavy twilight skys
as elderly Summer passes away
in russets and browns, her curtains now drawing
as England sleeps, in the depth of each Fall.

At mornings approach, after chill of the night
brings carpets of mist, to contour the fields
with but watered Sun, to lift the gloom
daybreak rolls over, and drifts back to sleep.**

howard brace Apr 2011
I'm an educated man, not academic, but in life
knowing words with more meaning than most
and can write them all down, both by line and by verse
and in context, know how to orate them.

But by smoking too much, my voice now is hoarse
and no more than a whisper can speak
but the voice it still flows, from heart to the pen
so nestle close, and to you, let me read them.

Now poetry is penned, should be spoken not read
but my plight, it suits me just fine
for to hear me speak these words to you
so close must you always remain.

What my heart remembers
it remembers only you
remembers all the times we shared
the things we used to do.

Memories of two lives that lived
two lives that lived as one
the memories of happiness shared
the thing that life's undone.

What my heart remembers
your hair of raven wing
your long and flowing tresses
my tears they start to spring.

Eyes of darkest coffee
un-fathom-able and deep
the eyes I used to gaze upon
before I went to sleep.

The sweetest face, the sweetest smile
lips that taste of honey
your lips that used to laugh aloud
when I said something funny.

The way we'd walk in Summers rain
through fallen leaves in October
in snow we'd play, on snowy days ...
... You Are My Heart, Remember.**

and worn with no disgrace,
a look of joy and happiness
is painted on my face.

This look you see, so fair and true
which cannot be disguised

and lives within my eyes.

For the look I wear, I will not hide
the look that makes me sigh
would surely fade and turn to tears
were you to say goodbye.**

full of happy things, filled with smiles
with no thought of time ahead
with no other care,

Yesterday with sadness filled
lost in thought and distant dreaming
of faraway places, of make-believe
what look in your eyes,
will tomorrow bring.

All things considered, my life has been sweet,
I've always been blessed, with ample to eat.

All things considered, as I stand by the sink,
there's never been a want, of fresh water to drink.

All things considered, I've never known the lack,
through times of misfortune, of a shirt on my back.

All things considered, as I pass along the street,
through the seasons of life, always two shoes on my feet.

All things considered, with this roof overhead,
my fortunes are many, as I rise from my bed.**
