The Fountain of Youth
Hilda Jun 2013
Look for the fountain of youth.
Take a long drink.
Look to the heavens for a sparkling star
Because what you think that's what you are.

Out in the Fields With God
Hilda May 2013
The little cares that fretted me,
I lost them yesterday,
Among the fields, above the sea,
Among the winds at play;
Among the lowing of the herds,
The rustling of the trees;
Among the singing of the birds,
The humming of the bees.

The foolish fears of what may happen,
I cast them all away
Among the clover-scented grass,
Among the new-mown hay;
Among the rustling of the corn,
Where drowsy poppies nod,
Where ill thoughts die and good are born
Out in the fields with God.

Perfection
Hilda May 2013
O how the thought of God attracts
And draws the heart from earth,
And sickens it from passing shows
And dissipating mirth!

Tis not enough to save our souls,
To shun the eternal fires;
The thought of God will rouse the heart
To more sublime desires.

God only is the creature's home,
Though rough and strait the road;
Yet nothing less can satisfy
The love that longs for God.

Oh, utter but the Name of God
Down in your heart of hearts,
And see how from the world at once
All tempting light departs.

A trusting heart, a yearning eye
Can win their way above;
If mountains can be moved by faith
Is there less power in love?

How little of that road, my soul,
How little hast thou gone!
Take heart and let the thought of God
Allure thee further on.

Dole not thy duties out to God,
But let thy hand be free;
Look long at Jesus, His sweet blood-
How was it dealt to thee?

The perfect way is hard to flesh;
It is not hard to love;
If thou wert sick for want of God
How swiftly wouldst thou move!

Be docile to thine unseen Guide;
Love Him as He loves thee;
Time and obedience are enough,
And thou a saint shalt be.

The Power of Prayer
Hilda May 2013
Lord, what a change within us one short hour
spent in Thy presence will prevail to make;
What heavy burdens from our bosoms take;
What parched grounds refresh as with a shower!

We kneel- and all about us seems to lower;
We rise- and all, the distant and the near,
Stands forth in sunny outline, brave and clear.
We kneel- how weak! we rise, how full of power!

Why, therefore, should we do ourselves the wrong,
Or others, that we are not always strong;
that we are ever overborne with care,
Anxious and troubled, when with us is prayer,
And joy and strength and courage are with Thee.

**~Richard  Trench~
May we all take time to pray and meditate on God's Word daily. A challenge to all true Christians to turn off the internet at least an hour or two and spend time with God. Don't let anything come before God- not even the internet lest it become an idol.

The Suffering Lamb of God
Hilda May 2013
Isaiah 52:14 As many were astonied at Thee His visage was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men.

Isaiah 53:2 For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant and as a root out of dry ground; He hath no form nor comeliness and when we shall see Him there is no beauty that we should desire Him.
3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief, and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised and we esteemed Him not.
4 Surely He hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before his shearers is dumb so He opened not His mouth.

Happy Mother's Day! Lori
Hilda May 2013
Though miles may separate us dear friend,
And days fly quickly with each irksome chore,
Our bond on such trifles does not depend,
Only serves to enrich our love the more.
Although skies may darken with clouds of grey
Dispelling happiness with blackest gloom,
Glad sunshine dances in sparkling ray
When mem'ries of you flood as sweet perfume.
Melody of robin and woodthrush blend;
Gentle breezes through meadow grasses sigh.
I am reminded of my lovely friend
Causing worries and grief from me to fly.
I am so happy to call you my friend!
Happy Mother's Day Wishes I do send.

Ephesians 5
Hilda May 2013
1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us and hath given Himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.
3 But fornication and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.
4 Neither filthiness nor foolish talking nor jesting, which are not convenient, but rather giving of thanks.
5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words; for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord; walk as children of light;
9 For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord,
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
I realize this is not "a verse for today" but several verses, yet wanted to share this with you, inspired by my dear husband Timothy for writing "verse for today" and also Somethingweknewwasours for her personal testimony I want to say thank you! also to you dear daughter, Marian, for encouraging me in the beginning to post these testimonies.... Last but not least, our dear sister who encouraged us saying she always starts her day with the Bible because it is as vitamins. "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word which proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Furry Friends
Hilda May 2013
Sixteen bewhiskered cats with tempers sweet
Only needing food and tranquil retreat.
They try to be good and do what is right
But get into mischief from morn till night.

So hard not to adore each furry face
Though pranks may lead to many a disgrace
Fiddling and tearing the household blinds
Until sighing we think we'll lose our minds.

Hearts so overflowing with deepest love,
Sent from God the Father of Lights above.
Sadly few folks to such a good home give.
How can each darling continue to live?

And even though they may growl and grumble,
When time to eat tiny motors rumble.
Furry paws swat many a ragged mouse.
Without them would be a desolate house!

Families adopt babies, fortunes pay,
Yet for these wuss pusses refuse to sway.
More forgiving than us despite sharp claws,
Surpassing mankind's sins and blatant flaws.

Sixteen bewhiskered cats with tempers sweet!
What have they done to deserve such defeat?

Dear family,

With God's help I want to do better! I want to learn how to communicate in a lucid and helpful way. Forgive any errors in me. Poems don't always rhyme, and this is a poem that does not rhyme. This is my poem to thee. What can I do better?
To you Marian, I wish I could do more with you. Play a board game. Have a tea party.Talk together. I want to be a better mother. Thank you for all the little things you do for me, dear daughter.
And Timothy... how can I be a better help to you? Maybe all three of us can play a board game together again someday. Thank you for all you do for me.
Today was a golden day. Let's keep on .....

I have the sweetest friend who is so dear
Gladdening my life when days are drear
Sparkling sunshine on gloomy days bleak
N'er after her own pleasure does she seek.
Great poetess and cook she makes work fun,
Sure way to win the heart of any one
Intelligent and kind she doth so prove
Honest token of sympathy and love
Wise about government and sundry things
Whenever talking with her my heart sings!
So Happy Birthday Lori, friend so sweet
May you never suffer gloom or defeat!

The Lotus
Hilda Apr 2013
The lotus dances on the lake at night
under the bright moon
and the water lily  ballets upon the river
the fairies dance in the shadows of the moon
the flowers waltz in the meadow
and the moon casts its rays upon the ground
making the ground look like silvery
shadows of light hitting the
waltzing flowers
the sounds of crickets and that of katydids
and nighttime birds fill the
air
and the sweet fragrance of
lavender, lilacs, honeysuckles,
and roses fill the air
and the lotus continues
to dance on the lake
to the song of nighttime birds and insects
and the water lily continues
to ballet upon the river
to the song of the flowing river
that she ballets upon

only at night

I hear you about the kitchen sigh.
Neglect those cares for one blissful day.
Time on rushing wings too soon doth fly.
Please daddy and mamma with me play!

Just one golden afternoon of bliss
Over long forgotten book to pore.
Weeping someday you'll look back and miss
Time's stolen moments that are no more.

Forsake internet this afternoon;
Neglect those cares for one blissful day!
Childhood dreams shall vanish all too soon.
Please daddy and mamma with me play!.

Dedicated lovingly to Marian in praying that I may be a better mother
Hilda Apr 2013
I am heartbroken my husband so dear
That all my aspirations seem to die
Nor brighten your days with sunshine and cheer
And make thy heaviest burdens to fly.
Forgive my frail human attempts in vain,
Sparkling gold turned into bitter dross,
My failure to palliate ev'ry pain,
Highest dreams and goals fading into loss.
So I pray to be an ideal wife;
Make each oncoming day a golden dream
Flood radiant sunshine into your life
So each new moment doth sparkle and gleam.
O! May this humble sonnet to thee prove
Truest heartfelt token of my deep love.

Five Women
Hilda Apr 2013
"I love you Jesus," said Sally Anne.
"Today I'll do everything I can."
All day long she nagged her husband kind
Until he thought he would lose his mind.

"I love you Jesus!" cried Miss Mary.
"Today for others loads I'll carry."
Neighbor Alice called and begged for bread.
Slamming the phone gave a stone instead.

"I love Thee Jesus," said Mrs. Hill
"Today how I long to do Thy will!"
She laughed at the poor and mocked the lame
Then sat and watched a video game.

"I love you Jesus," smiled Mrs. Lee.
"I'll show what a Christian I can be."
Then donning a bright red mini skirt
Spent the afternoon a blatant flirt.

"I love you Jesus," said Sister Fay.
"How I long to read Your Word and pray!"
She toiled and sweated all the long day
That night so weary she scarce could pray.

Five promising His love to proclaim.
Which think ye won the test and the game?

Psalm 1
Hilda Apr 2013
Ps 1:1 ¶ Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. {ungodly: or, wicked}
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. {wither: Heb. fade}
4 ¶ The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

(King James Version)

In days vanished stealing to sweet bower
Heartbroken for gone is that gladsome day
Perfumed sweet mem'ries linger on that hour
Deadened by somber winter's hues of grey
O! how with ecstasy my soul doth soar
Yearning again soughing in pines to hear
Dreaming of days I thought to be no more
When God's comfort banished every tear
The plaintive weeping of a mourning dove
Melodious breezes whisper and sigh
Surrounded by the healing balm of love
All creation to Him with us draw nigh
Despite lonesome winter's minor refrain
O! how I long to see those days again!

Jesus I My Cross Have Taken
Hilda Apr 2013
Jesus, I my cross have taken,
All to leave and follow Thee;
Naked, poor, despised, forsaken,
Thou, from hence, my all shalt be.
Perish ev'ry fond ambition,
All I've sought or hoped or known;
Yet how rich is my condition!
God and heav'n are still my own.

Let the world despise and leave me,
They have left my Saviour too;
Human hearts and looks deceive me;
Thou art not like them untrue;
And while Thou shalt smile upon me,
God of wisdom, love, and might,
Foes may hate and friends may shun me;

Show Thy face and all is bright.
Man may trouble and distress me,
'Twill but drive me to Thy breast;
Life with trials hard may press me;
Heav'n will bring me sweeter rest.
Oh, tis not in grief to harm me,
While Thy love is left to me;
Oh,'twere not in joy to charm me,
Were that joy unmixed with Thee.

The winds blow their faces,
That smile so sweetly,
The waltzing flowers.

The grass dances beside,
The waltzing flowers.

They sing beside the bubbling creek,
The waltzing flowers.

Their beauty is for everyone to see,
Such pretty flowers.

God made them,
Beautiful waltzing flowers.

God made everything,

From Dusk To Dawn
Hilda Mar 2013
Dusk

The flowers unfurl their petals
Towards the dark Night sky
The roses smile up at the Moon
Which shines happily upon the sleeping world

The breezes blow the muslin curtains
Which hang at my open bedroom window
And the shadows of the Moon
Flicker across my room, the floor, and me

The sounds of Night come softly
Through my window and hush me
To sleep like a lullaby of music
Which sends me into a world of dreams

And such is the enchanting Night
With it's glorious Moon
Which watches over all
While they sleep at Night

Dawn

Sun rays come dancing through my room
And greet me with brightness and joy
And the smell of flowers
Come blowing through my bedroom on the breeze

The sky is a painting of beauty
And of colour
Pastel clouds of pink float through the
Blue watercolour sky

And the song of birds wake the
Sleepy world with an anthem of praise
And of life and sunshine
Such beauty is beyond my words

Silhouettes of pine trees and furrs
With the back ground of God's sunrise
Make such a lovely picture of too much beauty. . .
That would take such a long time to describe
With pen, ink and paper while relaxing in the caressing breeze

Ode to Cookie and Harold
Hilda Mar 2013
My heart is broken beyond words
though none may fully understand
ever since I gave you away
thinking what I did was for your good
now I hide a pain so deep
and smile hiding my tears
nothing will ever look the same again
the leaves of onapproaching spring less green
the grass withered as my hopes
if I could give all I own
I surely would!
just to hold you in my arms once more
close to my heart
while tears showered on your softness
belated healing rain
hope dissolving pain
now life has ceased to be a sonnet
and words no longer rhyme

My Testimony(not a poem)
Hilda Mar 2013
For sometime I have considered leaving HP.Why? Because I have not only myself but my husband and daughter to consider. I am going to have to give account to God for everything I do- and so will all of you.There has been much foul language on various pieces and graphic descriptions. I'm not saying this is true of everyone but it is common. Our daughter Marian has been posting poems and  Biblical passages but I don't know how much good it does. Jesus warns us not to cast our pearls before swine. There are people on HP who have been writing about cutting thenmselves- lots of them- and there is freedom of speech for them as well as for me. All the debauchery, etc. is having an adverse affect upon her  and I may have to some time soon leave. As aforementioned, this is not about everyone. I am merely addressing the indecent, the profane, etc. Previously when I posted my personal testimony I received a few grateful comments but those who were supposedly depressed and trying to harm themselves never responded... Why?

A thousand mem'ries of you
blow across my mind
tiny miracle of life
held close to a mother's heart

no flute to give thee
harp or cello have I none
chilled by poverty

hungry mouths to feed
our furry little darlings
their eyes beseeching

if I had more time
I would play croquet with you
and dress dolls again

hear a mother's heartfelt cry
baking loaves of bread and rolls
planning simple meals

May this humble poem

The Path Of Sunrays
Hilda Mar 2013
~~~~English~~~~
Such beauty takes away my breath
As the sunrays shine across the peaceful path
The trees of this forest sway and nod in the dancing breeze
Which caresses my cheeks
Pastel clouds in the watercolor sky
Makes the forest with its path beautiful
And birds sing and warble in the tall treetops
God alone creates this beauty
The bluebells bordering the path
Are kissed by sparkling dewdrops
And snowdrops have long come out of
Their veil of snow
Lacy green leaves from the blowing trees
Provide shade in the sweet summer
And the breezes provide coolness on a hot day
At this lovely place of beauty
~~~~French~~~~

For sometime Jesus convicted me to write this so everyone here can see it. I have felt miserable keeping it inside because Jesus says if we confess Him before men He will confess us before His Father in heaven.

To anyone here on HP I want to say this: if you are miserable with your life and come to Jesus for forgiveness of your sins He will cleanse you and give you eternal life in heaven. "For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16. He loved you and me enough to die for us on the cross so we could live with Him forever if we accept Him and repent of our sins. We have to confess and forsake
our sinful lifestyle.

I cannot help but write this so strong has been my conviction! If I have been a stumbling block to anyone here please forgive me! If unknowingly I have pressed a like button for some poem or write up that uses foul language please forgive me! I wish to do better with Jesus' help! Jesus says that by our words we shall be justified or condemned. Every tree is known by its fruits.

If you wish to know more about Jesus please feel free to comment below and I will be glad to help you!!! Or you can always send me a message  and I will get back with you as soon as I possibly can. Though I stay very busy as a housewife and mother (my husband and daughter also here on HP- Timothy and Marian) I am open to comments. Again please forgive me if I have caused anyone here to be offended.
I  cannot remain here without letting my light shine. Jesus is the Light of the world and whoever believes in Him and repents no longer walks in the darkness of this wicked world. Their speech will be for His glory! Their actions will please Him. They will come out from the wickedness of this world and live separate and holy lives for Jesus.

So again—please forgive me if I have failed in showing Jesus by my life or actions.

Snowdrops sparkle with pearly dew
and all the world wakes anew
with breezes soft which caress my cheeks
on this balmy afternoon
dappled sunshine crowns the world with gold
and the Thrush's flute like song fills the evening air
crocuses and daffodils nod and sway
and the mountain stream reflects the sunset in the west
the golden sun turns to red and sinks below the sunset's curtain
and takes its heavenly sleep
while the moon hastily wakes and provides
a dim light to the world while the sun sleeps
beneath the sky
the stars twinkle merrily
as the owls hoot some lullaby full of melody
and the whole world is hushed to sleep
'til morning doth appear
with it's sun rays dancing through my window
and greets me with a sunrise which God painted so beautiful
a brand new day has begun
with work as mothers always do each and every live long day
pastel pink clouds drift lazily
and little rosebuds drop their dainty dew
such a lovely day hath dawned
and I wish everyday could be like this
now it is nighttime again
and the moon's rays hit my bedroom floor
and as I lay here I think about how days are so very short
that is why we should make the most of time for it is so precious
like moonlight because it does not last long even though it happens most
every night
it is the same with time. . . it does not last long even though it happens everyday
that is why we should make the most of it

un brand new day a commencé

Spring (Haiku)
Hilda Feb 2013
~~~~~English~~~~~~
Spring is on its way
All the coldness has banished
Like the dark thick gloom.
~~~~~~French~~~~~~
Le printemps est sur la bonne voie
Toute la froideur a banni
Comme l'obscurité épaisse noire.

My Love for Thee
Hilda Feb 2013
No gift to offer
save my love
to thee to prove
    the
   truest
   words
    ever
  spoken
   the
  greatest
  of
these
   is
Charity!
as the Bible says
so I can only bring thee
this gift of my love for thee!
asking our God and His son Jesus
for mercy and grace to help us
    in
   our
  time
  of
need!
Please  know how much I love thee, dearest!

Spring (Haiku/Senryu)
Hilda Feb 2013
Winter slowly gives
And the Spring returns again
All around life signs.

No longer weep for me when I am gone,
Nor gaze upon this stiffened corpse once more.
Shadows slanting worn sundial on the lawn
Remind you sadly of sweet days before.
Bring me no flowers to wilt and decay
As if toys as this comfort to me gain.
Can such thy sufficient love relay
When I in my eternal sleep be lain?
Neath rugged yew tree's shade ne'er more to wake.
As unceasing ages roar forth their rage
Each ephemeral bubble too must break.
Unloose the prisoned linnet from her cage!
Roll on thou raging storm of blackest life
In all thy fury of vain human strife!

O lonely house by which I stand!
Chilling rain mingles with heartbroken tears.
Stabbed by death's cruel mocking hand
As time unfurls her once dazzling years.

Windows staring, dark empty eyes
Bygone days radiated amber glow.
Time rushes, and yesterday dies
From yearning grasp fades years of long ago.

Tiny feet patter on worn stairs
As ghosts of half forgotten tabbies play,
Oblivious to the world's cares'
Now mouldering in sodden beds of clay.

Sunlight once shimmered ev'ry pane
Casting forth her radiant honeyed rays
Where muffled drum beats winter rain
Echoing forever lost yesterdays.

Rooms with rosy-hued lamplight glowed
Wherein people talked and sang all banished
Golden laughter rang, voices flowed
In cold files of time suddenly vanished.
Life's fragile vase broken.
Kind words die unspoken.

Daybreak
Hilda Jan 2013
Wakening with dawn
shimmering in brilliant hues
of crimson and gold

                               Silv'ry woodthrush flutes
                               and drowsy robins murmur
                               promising fresh hope

Opaque blackness fled
Vanished its dark heaviness
dissolving in light

Weep! Locusts! Weep!
Hilda Jan 2013
Weep! locusts! weep!
Thou rasping chorus overflows
blending  into sultry dusk of June
and deepening nightfall
nocturnal whispers of perfumed
pines and cedars listen in hushed wonder
Echo the dirge of my bleeding heart!
and shattered dreams
Weep! O let thy song be heard!
Voices blended in such melody
harsh though sweet
Wail thy sad sad song!
Thou who reflect a thousand lost yesterdays
and infinite heartbreaking tomorrows...

Poison
Hilda Jan 2013
some unseen hand of cruel fate
tainting her deeds of sacrificial love
loaves of home baked bread
turned to stones
cups of cold water
taste lukewarm
soft melodic words
ring sarcasm in dull ears
toiling from sunrise till darkest night
only to bring others delight
never taking time for her dreams
unuttered cries and silent screams

Mir'am! thy Love to Me as Musk Perfume;
Shimmering tresses of raven soft wave
Chasing away my melancholy gloom.
Loving spirit! Naive and yet so brave.
How oft have my arms ached to hold thee near
To my heart, protecting thee from dire harm.
Dear darling!childlike with innocent cheer.
Smitten I fall captive to feline charm.
My lips with kisses crave thy furry face;
Mesmerized as you chase a butterfly
Dancing so carefree with aerial grace,
Causing my heart to echo wistful sigh.
God grant thee health and utmost happiness
Thou precious! Who from life deserves no less!
