I never thought moving on from you would be this hard.
I told you that we could be friends, and I truly meant that.
But why do you have to keep making it so hard to forget,
Those three months where I spent every night in your arms,
Laughing and loving like I never have before?
I don’t love you like I used to,
But any form of it is still love at the core,
And that doesn’t just go away.
You were the first person
To break down your own walls along with mine,
And rely on me like I have on everyone else.
But you have someone else now,
So why can’t you be content with that?
There’s a fine line between joking and being serious,
And sometimes it’s hard to tell which side you’re on when
You tell me to come over and be with you like I used to.
Don’t you have her for that?
You made it pretty clear when you chose her over me.
Not that I’m spiteful or heated about it,
But that is the honest truth.
So call her at two in the morning when you’re feeling lonely,
Because you don’t have me for that anymore.

Love doesn’t make everything better, not always.
Especially when it’s with someone who isn’t right for you,
At least not at the time.
It can consume you,
Making you feel like that person is necessary for every breath you take,
Like your heart would stop beating if you didn’t have them.
So when love doesn’t work out,
It really does seem like the end of the world.
Waking up in the morning feels impossible, '
The world unbearable because that person isn’t around anymore.
But life goes on, eventually.
As time goes by, it’ll get easier to get out of bed
Without feeling like you’re going to break into pieces.
Then maybe you’ll be able to go a whole day without thinking about them.
But no matter how long you can hold it together,
There are always moments.
Maybe you’re in the car,
And a song comes on that reminds you of them.
Or you’re in bed alone,
And you suddenly remember how it felt to have them lying beside you,
Holding each other as you fell asleep.
It’ll hurt,
And you’ll sit there and miss them.
The moment will pass and life will go on,
But it still happened,
And you’ll remember it.
Because when you love someone, truly love them,
It never goes away, not really.
You may not be together, or even be in each others’ lives anymore.
Hell, one or both of you could be perfectly happy with someone else.
But they will always hold a piece of your heart.
After all, you gave it to them for a reason, '
You can’t just take it back.

Love, the real kind, is never simple.
It is the one thing that makes life worth it in the end,
and something that wonderful and sought-after is never going to be easy to get.
You have to work for it.
Blood, sweat, and tears.
So if it’s easy, yeah maybe you won’t get broken.
But you won’t be truly happy, either.
You’ll be settling.
Don’t get me wrong,
There are lots of things in life that are totally acceptable to settle on.
Sure, Harvard was your dream school.
But you know what?
Going to your state school because its more affordable
Will still get you where you want to be in life.
And I know the hairdresser couldn't match the color you showed her,
But you are beautiful and can rock it anyway, so don’t worry.
But love?
Settling in love is like buying a pair of shoes that are a size too small,
Just because you thought they were pretty.
They may look nice,
But you are dying on the inside. I
f you had just held out a bit longer,
You would have found a pair just as beautiful that fit well, too.
Maybe that nice guy looks good on paper,
But if he doesn’t give you butterflies whenever he looks at you,
Don’t be with him.
You want someone who makes you fall for them every day,
Not just once.
Maybe tonight is forever
What if this is all we have
Maybe this feeling is eternity
And your eyes are seas that have no depth
Maybe I was meant to feel this way
And you were meant to hold me
Kiss me
Love me
Maybe
Maybe this is a dream
No grasp of reality at all
Maybe my broken heart was just me dying
And this has all happened in the moment between life and death
Maybe it’s just a swell dream, and maybe I’ll wake up soon
And maybe when I do I’ll forget it all
Forget your name
Forget your touch
Forget the way you changed me
And maybe I’ll smile again
If people were all cigarettes- I'd smoke a pack a day
and take long drags of everyone
and then toss the butts away

If people were all change- quarters, pennies, nickles, and dimes
I'd pick each one up from the sidewalk and save
for a bottle of *** and a good time

If people were pills- they'd all be prozacs and zolofts
so we could keep on faking smiles
pretending to get off

And as I'd wash down pills with shots- and feel as each on burned
I'd blow smoke in a young child's face
Reassuring him, next was his turn.
We were walking down the highway
Talking bout our desires
How we planned to see the world
Wanted to dance naked around fires

He looked over at me
And his eyes pierced into mine
He said he never met a girl
Who he thought was this fine
I blushed and looked away
And smiled and said you’re lying
I knew that he wasn’t, but still I was trying

We stopped off at the oak tree
To marvel at its wonder
All its branches reaching upward
All the shade that it left under

He grabbed up my hands
Slipped his fingers in with mine
We talked under that oak tree
Till we lost all sense of time
And the skies passed above us
And the stars waged wars
We got caught up in the crossfires
Between our heads and our hearts

When I woke up in the morning
I was cold and alone
I found laying on my heart
A note that he had wrote
It said you looked happy here
But I had to keep going
Know that I love you, and that this speaks nothing of you

My mind is troubled by it's own emptiness
Where did all this space come from
this dead space
this cavity?
Did you leave it there when you left?
I ought to find you and return it
for i sure as hell don't want it
and i don't want to hold on to it for you
i don't want anything to do with you.

Hard times for dreamers
and that summer was the happiest haze ever felt.
Did you want to be an inspiration?
To inspire something,
anything,
beautiful in the world?

She slipped out her skin,
watched it fall in a heap around her ankles,
stepped from all hindrances
and became the invincible.

I am undefeatable tonight,
unbreakable
untouchable
and all I say is true.
Take my hand and walk with me darling
For I have a story to tell you
Its one of the past, and of the future
Concerning the longevity of a night
And the brevity of a decade

The story starts off simple enough
Boy meets girl, and he is captivated with her presence
Though his eyes rest upon her for but a moment, that moment is the longest of his life
And nothing could ever be the same after
For when you find your other half, you feel empty until unity

The backs tory is a bit more complicated
Girl meets boys, over and over again
Searching for that perfection, floating in the clouds
Eventually becomes jaded, for all of the bad men in the world
And she is damaged, bitter goods

Our protagonist stands up and rushes over
Tapping the ******* the shoulder as she passes him by
I'm  sorry to bother you miss, but I couldn't help but say
Seeing you has made it the most beautiful of days
And though it may sound strange, I feel like we were meant to know each other

She surveys him with cynicism
Wondering what she did to have some stranger harass her
And as she looks at him, scathing rejection on the tip of her tongue
She sees something in his eyes, something pure and intriguing
And she instead finds herself asking, fancy a drink?

Life can be incredible sometimes
And the boy can't believe his luck
Good fortune like this only happens in the movies
But he flashes a smile, and takes her by the hand
Said come, lets have a good time

Trailing slightly behind him, the girl feels a sense of awe
Because she had learned to repel any sort of human connections
Yet here she was with a boy she just met
Off on a date she hadn't expected
Inexplicably happier than she had been in ages

That night seemed to last forever
They sat and talked and laughed
Two souls connecting instantly
As if they had always known the other
And everything was right

They go their separate ways that night, promising to keep in touch
As they lay down to sleep alone, they wish nothing more than  to be with the other in the morning
And with a flash, they wake up
The man and the woman, together in love
With the years that passed by far too quickly, an the moments that seemed to never end
