Words
Deeds
A scale that leans.
A balance that heavily
tilts
to one side.
Spilling
Toppled
and unrepentant.
Dry leaves crackle -
Floorboards creak -
Gravel crunches -
Underfoot.
Trodden down -
Ground -
And grounded.
Dreams
These things without
f e a t h e r s
Cannot fly -
Merely lay -
Merely
Lie.
These dreams -
Oh, these DREAMS!
These hopes -
Of what
Might have been.
These dreams
These dreams
These visions
Of light and air
Of soft and full
Of love and blisses
Of smiles and kisses!
Grounded now.
Ground
down
By the grind of life
and time -
By tears
and fears -
By words
and deeds
and
tilting scales.
The scales that covered my eyes
have fallen away and I clearly see -
not how things could be
But how they truly
a r e.
