Sometimes we want to be free of our loneliness
Sometimes we want but a moment alone
Finding in some moments, neither can satisfy
Wondering if we will ever feel whole
It seems that just when there's a measure of happiness
Something befalls to reverse every smile
Too much or too little of nothing or everything
Making each step much more weary a mile
But even if nothing can seem to change anything
Even if sometimes we can't see the stars
Even if some moments seem so unending
Despite just how hopelessly hopeful we are
There still resides magic in every moment
There still exists reasons for smiles and laughter
Even if only in silence of mind
For we are not walking alone in disaster
If only in words, we are still side by side
Even if I cannot say much to shine
Such a light through the darkness to cause it to flee
I'm here with you now, in your darker of moments
I'm holding your hand through whatever will be
We are each of us entwined
In our heart and in our mind
But we're broken, and we're battered
And we're shattered, and we're torn
We don't know just what we're saying
Til the memories start replaying
And we see what truly mattered
And what we were fighting for
The second hand keeps taking
Little pieces in our waking
As the dreamer that now screams inside
Cries out for something more
And our hearts keep on repeating
Throughout all bent on defeating
Both the strength and sanity we find
When we feel there is no more
The smiles keep returning
Through the lessons we are learning
For our memories still bring laughter
Just the same as they bring tears
This journey we have taken
Both forgiven and forsaken
Will soon be forever after
Be it days or weeks or years
So no matter what was done
With every battle left unwon
We're still here, and we're still standing
Even when we feel we're lost
Every love that left us bleeding
Every fear we kept on feeding
Every last misunderstanding
All gave more than what they cost
For the knowledge we can gain
From every single ounce of pain
Shapes the way we see tomorrow
And everything that we hold dear
Even when we're far apart
We're forever heart to heart
Be it smiles or be it sorrow
In my heart, you're always near
Pain is time, and time's depraved
In sanity that's not so sane
For though a wait is needed
It's a weight unto the soul
Although all good things take time
The time between is bent and frayed
Because some pain is needed
To hold on, and to let go
Every grain of sand that passes
Through the crooked frame of chance
Echoes through the halls of madness
In unwanted circumstance
Every day that finds us waiting
Wanting just a little more
So to keep our hearts from breaking
Like so many times before
Drives us further into doubting
If our dreams will ever be
Or if the truest nightmares
Are the dreams that never come
Is it worse to feel the torment
Fighting for what seems to flee
Or is it worse to live there
As we slowly come undone?
For giving up and giving in
Are very much the same
My friends, we cannot live this life
Forever cowering
Afraid to fight for anything that matters
For the fear of losing all
How can any of us feel alive
If we refuse to fall?
So, we wander, and we wonder
Just how long this time will tell
That in weakness, we are stronger
Than the darkness that invades
We will never see the glimmer
If we worry our eyes closed
Just because the nights seem longer
When our hearts can hardly wait
In this, the "intervention"
They insist upon contention
Oh...did they fail to mention
Why they brought you here today?
Infliction of position
A reversal indecision
Can't you tell...?
They're on a mission:
Make the problem go away
For they see not who you are
But who you aren't now by far
They point the finger where you are
To keep the tables now unturned
They never stop...they always stare
Never equal when compared
They scandalize the unprepared
All while pretending they're concerned
Don't you know they know what's best?
So much more than all the rest
They try to force you to ingest
The bitter pills that they won't swallow
So defensive in their offense
Making perfect, utter nonsense
Only one thing holds importance...
See you fail if you won't follow
Strip away all that you know
Conceal yourself in all you show
As long as you will feign to throw away
What makes you who you are
They seek only to destroy
With every trick and every ploy
Until they break their newfound toy
That way, they can't feel their own scars
Every night and every day
In every way
I dream of you
And every word that I would say
If things should change
But they never do
Each time I think I see your face
Or hear your voice
In someone new
It leads to one more lonely night
In sleep or wake
To dream of you
Hear the voices
shaking, both
in pleasure
and in fear,
as they sweetly
whisper moonlight
twixt the shadows
in our hearts,
brightening the farthest
corners where hope
lays dying, gasping
within the choking
cloud of nothingness
offered up by
every false
prophet of emotion,
each of whom
chokes us
with words as
opposed to breathing
new life
with actions.
Be it ever so elusive
Be it ever hard to gain
Be it ever one step further
Be it one more ounce of pain
Be it somewhat inconclusive
When I want to know for sure
It is still not so intrusive
When my dreams become a blur
For if I never stopped to wonder
If I never stopped to think
On each tough or tender morsel
On each sip of such I drink
How could I still undiscover
Such a dark, yet lovely truth
Sometimes we will grow much older
Reaching for the dreams of youth

I am ever so impatient
I can wait a few more years
I sustain myself with smiles
While I drown myself in tears
I look forward to tomorrow
As I’ve yet to seize the day
Every time I dare to reach out
Something always blocks my way
I’m so tired of being surrounded
I’m so tired of being alone
I’m so tired of being so tired
When I’m inspired to the bone
Such depth in shallow waters
How I soar with broken wings
Finding something in each nothing
As I tread the in-between
