I just need a minute
To express the sadness
I felt when I read about this crude act of madness
The innocence of a child... doesn't deserve this
This level of violence on a child? God will not forget... the memory, He preserves this
Whoever you are... whatever your reason
A fate worse than hell... that fiery prison
The shooter deserves this
A child
That is who you killed... a child
An innocent soul... not a Crip, not a Blood
You will never see the day when you can get rid of the stain left by a little one's blood
I just need a minute... to write this
May God give those affected the strength to fight this... injustice
And to the madman... it shall haunt you beyond the grave we know
Poetic justice
But nothing we write/say/do can undo this unnecessary act of violence
However, let's just take a minute to pay our respects
Let's have a moment of silence.
Sometimes my curiosity peaks new levels as I wonder how someone could commit such atrocities.

A child's life,
so precious.
A child's spirit,
pure.

A child's smile,
heart warming.
A child's dreams,
forever growing.

A child is a scared key to a second realm that cannot be seen by grown ups.

A realm of happiness,
laughter,
and joy beyond comparison to anything else.

A child brings smiles on a cold, rainy day.
A child brings joy to the old and weak, fading away.
A child brings hope,
of a brighter, better future.

To me,
a child is one of the most special things in the world.
I hope to have my own some day,
and hopefully,
I pray,
something like this never happens to my child or myself.

But for now I grieve,
I mourn,
and I remember,
those who lost their lives in this horrific tragedy.
I send my condolences to the families of the children,
and hope they find peace,
love,
and a supportive community,
in this tragic time.

May God bless all involved in the incident,
and may they know he is taking good care of their loved ones up in Heaven.

Maximize the minimum
A Rasta man told me
So I opened my eyes and saw me some...
Truth… and tapped into the bold me
Allowed the truth to hold me
Scared is something that I won’t be
I refuse it
I have to work this skill
This music
Make it work and use it
Roots that support this growing tree
This to me is poetry
I will write
I will sing
To the best of my ability
And in future you will see me son
Maximizing my minimum
I can’t stay stagnant
I can’t
I will take from this world whatever it is I want
I will be amazing
Step into this battle guns blazing
And if I face closed doors
I will find alternative ways in
I may not be a ‘proper’ fellow
But I do put on a charming smile… and win them over from the moment I say ‘hello’
So I’m using these little attributes to my advantage
To come out ahead… on top… superior
Point?
Vantage.

She's like a star with bad breath
Leading you to feel like she may cause death
Evil and pure that's for sure
She likes to feel like a *****
That knows how to love and to bite
And then you think that she is right
Outside a diamond inside is rotten
From her innocent childhood completely forgotten
No matter how much you will polish
Still she will completely demolish
But still, you have done her bad
For you don't care, that's sad
Wile you're lying there thinking in your bed
She's still out there spitting her filth
And you are left with all the guilt
Breath with a smell that doesn't stop
Which will haunt you until you rot....

Wander
It’s a beautiful thing
Rocks under my hands
Leaves under my feet
The world is alive,
And I am too.

Into the woods
Lost among the trees,
Older and wiser,
They take me in and
I can breathe again.

I am not afraid
Protect myself no longer
I return laughing,
Resurface as I truly am.
The bruises from daily life
Seem not to sting so badly
Anymore.

Fully healed
The trees then open
To share their perspective
To teach me
What is true.

Let's smoke **** and blow it out my childhood window.
I'm not a proud woman, but I'm proud of my sins so
Let's get naked where the drugs are free.
No human here can shame the me out of me.
The world tastes different at 4,000 feet.
I breathe only progress, not a push to repeat.
"Why does it feel like the whole world's against you?"
Live how I want? No, it doesn't make sense to.
Disappoint all expectations to find what is real,
I need to see and experience the things that I feel.
Let's run to the skies and make love above the clouds;
We'll forget all these bonds that chain us to the ground.

Take me away.
Three beginnings.
Three boys.
Three kisses.
Three promises.

Three phone calls.
Three conversations.
Three tears.
Three endings.

*Third time's the charm right?

the appropriate place
on this exam
to
explain to you the way
that my heart
stuttered in my chest
and my words retreated
when you bent over my desk,
in response to my upraised hand.

Surprised,
I found that suddenly
the only questions I had left
had little to do with History
and

Everything

to do with the way
your ***
looked in your jeans.
