I feel myself slipping into the darkness
Every day, the feeling gets stronger,
my hope for a better life,
for a better society,
gets smaller and smaller.

The more I think about it,
the more it consumes me;
the thought of death.
But then something stops me;
more like two things.
without those two,
I know the darkness would have already won.

Scars on my wrist
Relics of a still breathing era
Reminding me of all the battles
I had the misfortune to lose
Tears on the pillow, blood on the sheets
I'm just a boy with a tragic past
Who longs for the day when I'm dead at last

it might've meant more
if any of the words we used
had actually been ours
though I guess that explains
why when you left
and I looked to see if my heart was okay
there was just an empty space
the veins ******* in MLA-formatted knots
like citations

you always loved yourself more
than you could ever love me
it's pronouced made-lin, not made-line.
in the same way i hate myself more than i could ever hate you.
