Vegas or Bust
So I must
Seek out and play in the dust.
The sun beams down on a city so proud
Where the lights are so bright
They keep you up all night!
This city boy
Loves nature and its call.
The owls the eagles and the forest so green.
The leaves the trees and those sunbeams!
Those cute shorts that girls roll up.
On a hike where they go bump bump bump.
But nothing so revealing can send me reeling.
It’s just plain ole *** appeal
And some of it isn’t even real!
However give me the city and its beat.
The walk along the streets.
The banter
The flow
Of a river I go.
Drink in hand and a strut in my step
Music and laughter
Fountain view shows
People that are after
Money and goodnights!
What a time! Every time I must confess!
Vegas! No Bust here
Just an amazing experience!**

Today I ran six miles you see
It was me, the trees and the people who smiled brilliantly.
And as I ran in much delight
Sun shined in my eyes
On my face
My shoulders warm from its embrace.
Joy has doubled down from all the heartaches and heartbreaks I’ve found.
Life is as simple as this run.
From who I was to what I am and what I’m not.
At age 45 –  its kinda all alright.
People like me don’t need much you see
We are lost in life’s web
And we often times forget our head.
We move with ease and do as we please
Smelling the flowers as we stride.
Millions walk by like stepping stones
So we try
Helping those in need when they cry.
That’s how its posed to be
Age and all from you to me
Older, more a sense for finesse
A patience and less stress.
Three more miles to go
And I laugh at those who never showed.
Those hearts who are blind
Leave genuine love behind
Those in such a short time
Will never find
A love like mine.

I can't
It won't
Undertow.
Heat infrequent
adapt or regret.
Spellbound weightless
Ageless pursuit.

Tears of Heaven:
These fallen times
I see men women and children combine.
In homes for the elderly together they thrive.
Back to what God provides.
The want is laid to rest
While the need simply profess.
Family starts to grow
Back onto the vine they go.
By an invisible hand that’s sure and divine
Their will – is set aside.
Lovers leave lovers in dreams that form
From the world and all that’s adorned.
If not these obscure lies
Would they simply fly?
The wicked know not why they stumble
Until they know Christ that is humble.
To love one is to honor the God within.
Not to play on the playground of sin.
Not to break the heart of God that’s within.
To know your soul you must break free
Speak no evil and give endlessly
Fight the good fight and be bold!
For no one stands against you when God has you in his fold.

I need a BBQ Queen!
Someone that can sit easy on me.
Drink and be merry
while all my friends flurry.
She can throw her arms around me
then scold me in a hurry!
I need a BBQ Queen
its that time you see
where spring is in the air
and flames of passion leave smokey
sweet smelling scents
driving my neighbors out to circle
my well kept innocence.
I need a BBQ Queen
To bend and lean
to smile and provide
this simple yet quaint lifestyle
that is just mine.

Tides of Echo Park

I sat between two trees..
A rock between my knees, the dirt soft and wet.
I held it in my hand and for a second I felt you there...
The smile on my lips
The simple joy between
and briefly how we came to be..
Then life called to me and so I let it be
the rock dropped from my hands
another time and another day
another creeping memory.
Stones at my feet...waiting just for me.

                                                 Tainted
Where do you go when you’re sixteen or so?
Life has just begun under your tainted sun.
Where do you go when you’re twenty or so?
Life has just begun under your tainted sun.
Where do you go when you’re thirty or so?
Life is just begun under your tainted sun.
Where do you go when you’re forty or so?
Life has just begun under my tainted sun.
I like this taint.
The color it makes…The sweet sound it creates.
The warmth and the barriers it breaks!
Such this taint for nothing is truly what we make
It takes many to formulate
But a questioning heart will always penetrate
The years of taint this world makes.
