If I could text this poem to you I would
Understand they don't have handhelds where you've moved
I still feel it's something that I should do
To text to you the letters ILOVEYO_U

Too young for me
And i know it
Road to where?
Desire still exists
Unrequited love
So strong

Chicks don't dig cigarettes
Chicks don't dig cigarettes
Cigarettes
They pull down your capital
Cigarettes
They make you smell [bowel]
Cigarettes
Where was my money now
Cigarettes

There comes a man
Comes a man
And he's not with the plan
Comes a man
And you say
Bash his skull
If you can
Comes a man

You didn't know
You didn't know
He was tricked
In the sand
And you pay with your ways
It's Gods' way
Yea, everybody must pay
Eh?

So I sing
And this is just one song I wrote
For the poet
Inside
And it's all I say
please I don't know the way
And I
Think it's going to be okay
If I ask and then
I pay and pay
So I
Guess it's going to be o.k.
So run
And I run
And I pray and I pray
Guess it's going to be okay
Got to ride another wave

Got to ride another wave

We need more cars on the road

Brought to you by Botox
Meanwhile the government isn't happy
with eighty-five per cent

They want to own
the home
Where you live
Ignorance is a happy place

You set
Your face flush
Against a prop

With that slight
Smirky smile of yours
And I question

Does beauty fade
Then your eyes brighten
And time stands still

The Oakland A's are quite Athletic but,
why are they drest like ducks?

The announcer announces:

Batter-at-the-plate
High Pitch!
Whoops!
Whoosh!

So mallard looking are
they with their yellow brim
on their green helmets

[CLANG] the ball hits a support pole in the stands

Yep, They duck

Free World?
David Ehrgott Jan 2016
I've never seen a free world
It must be someone's dream
There's always so much fighting
And people really mean

They say we're in a free world
Then please explain to me
How races were so slaughtered
in the twentieth century

Twenty Thousand Soldiers
Marching off to war
Thirty Thousand Dead Already
Why, would they need more?

To claim they're in a free world
Is a fallacy
There's nothing here for nothing
Not even your T.V.

So, if you see a free world
Point it out to me
I'll try my best to get there
if the weather's nice.  We'll see

Teach children to spit on the ground
Teach kids to spit and to grab their crotch

Take steroids in shots
For we know that our children will copy
Everything that you do
So our heroes keep shooting themselves in the foot
at the old ball game

Make Believe
David Ehrgott Oct 2015
I heard you made a story
just the other day
to show the world a wind of news
that blows in everyday

You're always over trying
When it's your turn to behave
at least you still stuck with it
Got plenty now to save

I once believed your story
and everything you said
Sometimes I wish I had listened
to someone else instead

Do you believe in make believe
or are you immune to it
Sometimes I like to just pretend
Hello there, have we met

But that was many years ago
Before you crapped on it
My life or what it really is
a simple dull existence

You added very interestingly
excitement and much stress
added pain and misery
to a life already bent

But your story is so very old
The jealous lovers end
If I can't have him no one can
so devious your plan

Your arms (are) like a Cephelopod
Devitalize my wit
I'm sure the world can figure out
Who is the devil-fish

Reality was my start plan
Yours was just garbage
Why did you choose to bother me
I had no life to begin with

I once believed in make believe
I thought we could be friends
That was many years ago
Before my life did end

But don't give up the hope my friend
She can't destroy all' men
Some even know they're lucky gents
Avoiding her playpen

I like to make up make believe
some thing to believe in
Don't worry it won't hurt your ears
or ruin you again

I want to live in make believe
and start over again
paint all the colors nice this time
so my life can begin

Do you believe in make believe
Then come on, jump right in
enjoy the fun and happiness
and make believe again

Free At Last
David Ehrgott Jan 2016
There was a monkey on my back
So often, would he plan attacks
And almost every time would grin
For I kept that simple sin

A ***** rotten nasty habit
In Great Britain called a ******
Caused me stress and some should know
Gave my clothes a few burnt holes

Here I am now, way past forty
Don't care if I'm looking portly
For the urge to eat is better
Then more burn holes in my sweater

More than a year now that I'm free
That little monkey can't hold me
I never get the urgency
To run and light that nicotine

I'm better off now, that I'm free
And this I truly do believe
The devil hid beneath a tree
His name was Sir Walter Raleigh

Another Nail Song
David Ehrgott Aug 2015
She showed me all her pictures
And I swore that it was all a dream
I don't know what I said or did
But, her future isn't with machine

I've been to many places
And I regret all that I've gleaned
With all this bad-word baggage
I didn't have a need for all her mean

She knows what I've been through
She's seen it, I been torn apart
What was her intentions
To tear a larger part out of my heart

I love her, even (when) nasty
She's the sweetest girl I thought I thought
So she sent in her model manager
To give it to me up n' up

And he said "She doesn't want you anymore."
Leave her alone
"She doesn't want you anymore."
Leave her alone

Her actions worked but nowhere's worse than others did before
I looked at her and saw a look or lack of disappointment
At least I didn't have to bring out the jar of ointment
Another nail song written down to please the lady so

She doesn't want you anymore
Leave her alone
She doesn't want you anymore
Leave her alone

You know
When you see
Something
And
It is out of touch
But
So real
That you can
Reach out
And
You feel it
Yes
You feel it
Because
It touches you
And you feel it
And
You like the way it touches you
Yes
And you like the way it feels

Happy seeing you again
Tho years ago you made me sore
and sometimes you are insane
but, life without you's just a bore

Happy seeing you again
I can't believe it - all these years
You're lookin' better than ever ever
Keep lookin' at Me

Hey, that's such a pretty dress
It's giving me an honest guess
A flower-print with background white
Wow!  You surely are a site

The winter bats are finally flight
You can't yet see them out at night
But they don't mean a thing to me
But you do darling, everything

Happy to see you again
So happy seeing you!

Run Away From The Start
David Ehrgott Sep 2015
I told you about the wolves in Norwood
Did I tell you about the Ghost of Rockleigh
Revolutionary War Heroes
and sometimes Benedict Arnold drops in

You could waste two years worrying
about getting back the money they stole from ya'
And you never get it back
No, you never get it back

Might as well run away from the start
Run a way from the start
Break out fast ; Don't Stop
Run a way from the start

I'm an arrow on an elm tree and
My heart is barking bled
Tattooed to you for too too long
I may as well be dead

I can not have this misery, the memories, the dread
I'm counting on a lightning storm to finally set me free

and I

Might as well run away from the start
Run a way from the start
Break out fast ; Don't Stop
Run a way from the start
