Danni Deel Sep 2015
I watched as she struggled,
As her mouth opened in protest;
The silent wail no one heard,
Yet it rang throughout the world.

Her arms flailed and finally stilled
Her feet were no longer quick;
As life was pulled from her form,
The last feeble effort
Of her ageless soul,
Was a tiny, soundless scream.

It echoed down the corridors of time
As it sounded among the forests & seas;
And to the highest hill climbed,
The small being is now free.

There are millions more
Whose fate is the same;
Innocent children
Who suffer for their parents' mistakes.

Will we ignore their tiring cry?
Will we stand and watch them die?
The choice is yours and mine to make;
Will we desert them for society's sake?
Wrote this for lit class...just want some opinions. Thanks! :-)
