Who
Will
God
Me?

Me?

Only
I
Will
God
Me

I

Lay in awe
lay in the light
I rain upon you

Lay in awe,
lay in my light
I reign over you

Like beasts we live
Like beasts we prey
Like beasts our bones will be found by better ancestors

Like beasts we die
Like beasts we rot
Like beasts our flesh will fill the bellies of the scavengers

Like beasts we scream
Like beasts we pray
Like beasts our last breaths drift away into every universe

Like beasts we are
Like beasts we must be
Like beasts created in his image,
beholden to hers

Man
A shadow
A fleeting negative
Darkest
When the sun is brightest

A mirage
Dancing alive
Convincing
When all is laid bare

A specter
An echo
Clattering bones
A clenched jaw

A will to be
When being is unwise

dread is certainty
bleak is the absence of footprints,
the onset of solstice

we carry nothing over with us
as dust, our flesh and bones,
our obsolete forms,
are all swept away in time.
so too are our minds.
lower than insects,
our thoughts die with us
in dirt chrysalis.
in dirt

we who would deceive ourselves
we who would believe ourselves
we can't remember the lives we've lived
we who would become ourselves
we who would transcend ourselves
we won't remember the deaths we'll die

At nightfall, gazing skyward,
he exults.
Godlike,
he projects himself upon the darkness.
At first light, gazing farther,
no sign of life...
Still
Searching for what he knows not,
and finding nothing.
Does what he seek even exist?
Did it ever?
Riddled with emptiness
beyond and within,
his search is in vain.
The void is a mirror
reflecting nothing.

Casting a swarm of machine seeds of a new life
Propagating like a plague upon new worlds
Far outreaching fragile flesh, touching new worlds
Inseminating celestial womb with our new life
dan d Oct 2014
Claw back into the sunlit spaces between your many worlds
of darkness.
Lay down your head, unburden your weary bones
and bask in the knowledge that the stars remain turning above you.
You exhaust yourself weeping for god knows what.
