Alone with the moon
She hides from me, as did the sun
Twenty ten, twelve twenty one
dan d Jul 2013
I am nothing,
Save for blood.
Only the earth
Will ever take me in.

I will nothing,
Save for life.
Only time
Will ever take it away.

When the sun rises
Who will awaken?
What of the poor few
Who remain dreaming?
What do they dream
If not nothing?
The way the wind blows
or only non-being?

I know nothing,
Save for mind.
Only the void
Will ever take it in.

I feel nothing,
Save for light.
Only the way
It illuminates me.

Wrested out of mind
I lose something of myself
when my eyes open

The flesh I inhabit
the universe I touch
they're all made of dreams
embodied possibilities
organic machinery
built by light herself
that feverish dreamer
even dreamt herself
She sees perfection when her eyes close
She makes it so

Void summoned to form by the dreamer's dream
Dancers through darkness
these mere spirits, luminous yet empty,
forget where they've been,
carried upon the subtle wind to this very moment

Wrested out of mind
I lose something of myself
when my eyes open

The flesh I inhabit
the universe I touch
they're all made of dreams
Unearthly dreams

You beast of burden, hill climber Sisyphean,
cast aside your stone
and summit the peak of eternal light.
Descend as a god then rise as a man
again and again
put your shoulder to the stone.
With the sun in your eyes, feel the life in your hands.
The weight you bear becomes your salvation,
a brief respite from eternal nothingness.
Your earthly struggle is glorious.
To begin again is to never end
and to embrace the stone is to become the stone.

Neverending is the wheel we're trapped within.
An ongoing death, the sun rises and it sets.

One world to the next
Infinity and zero
Doorways that smolder
dan d Oct 2013
I would weep
were it not for the joy
I know I'll feel tomorrow.
I would laugh
were it not for the sorrow
that I chased away with dreams.
I would sleep
were it not for the moments
that interrupt my rest.
I would work
were it not for the sun
illuminating all that I've done.

If only I could...

Claw back into the sunlit spaces between your many worlds
of darkness.
Lay down your head, unburden your weary bones
and bask in the knowledge that the stars remain turning above you.
You exhaust yourself weeping for god knows what.

dead
empty
******* shell
you
weak
lowly beast
run
away
from yourself
again
again

breathless
still
empty shell
you
meek
lonely beast
lived
and died
by yourself
that's all
that's all

dark
fading
lifeless stone
you
broken
loathsome beast
become
again
your self
become again

we carry nothing over with us
as dust, our flesh and bones,
our obsolete forms,
are all swept away in time.
so too are our minds.
lower than insects,
our thoughts die with us
in dirt chrysalis.
in dirt

we who would deceive ourselves
we who would believe ourselves
we can't remember the lives we've lived
we who would become ourselves
we who would transcend ourselves
we won't remember the deaths we'll die

you led me out to sea
and took the wind from my sails

i dragged you down with me
i grabbed your wrists and down i dove

you pressed your lips to mine
and ****** the life out of me

i looked up at you
with sun behind
and asked you to drown with me

I curl into a ball and disappear
And reemerge in another world
Bending over backwards
And annihilating
Simultaneously
Whirling violently
Dragging space with me
Burning the void at my edges
A yawning pit of need

I see you smeared across the firmament
Unrecognizable information
To anyone who doesn't know your every
  atom
The way I do
Man

Man
A shadow
A fleeting negative
Darkest
When the sun is brightest

A mirage
Dancing alive
Convincing
When all is laid bare

A specter
An echo
Clattering bones
A clenched jaw

A will to be
When being is unwise

I've dreamt of a light
heart-filling
and
enlightening

I know that I've felt it
yet I forget
when and where

Something will illuminate
my dark corner
eventually

If I imagine
an infinite universe
where this never ends
dan d Apr 2013
The main sequence is ended
then death becomes life,
diffused upon emptiness,
spreading divine light.

Generating the sphere

The light decays
into life
and we are but death
embodied in flesh.

Generating the sphere

From a distance,
and through the lens of time,
Chaos
seems still.

Generating the sphere

Our future foretold
by clouds in the void,
behind their beauty
lies their violence.

In this place
anything that grows is dying.
In this place
anything that dies is growing.

you with new moon eyes
and i without mind
between the echoes of screams
we lay here dreaming
you stare back at me
holding a ball of nails
while walls of fire
collapse about us

roused by medulla
fear manifest in blood
seeing and hearing
and ignoring the darkened world
internal chemical stimulus
separate from awareness
sparking the primitive
imperfect and savage brain

my pulsar heart
mirrors the flickering
of images and terror
that haunt my sleep
my black hole eyes
radiate oblivion
and swallow the light
I need to live
dan d Jun 2013
The ever fading din of our heartbeats,
a somber dirge of failing flesh,
the final echoes of man,
no more than a whisper,
resonate into empty space.
This is the sound of the end.

Will we have left an everlasting mark?
Will our lifeless bones remain
to show the beats of our hearts?
Will the things we built
leave a message for the ages?
...that we were once here?
...that anything was here?
dan d Aug 2016
Like beasts we live
Like beasts we prey
Like beasts our bones will be found by better ancestors

Like beasts we die
Like beasts we rot
Like beasts our flesh will fill the bellies of the scavengers

Like beasts we scream
Like beasts we pray
Like beasts our last breaths drift away into every universe

Like beasts we are
Like beasts we must be
Like beasts created in his image,
beholden to hers

Some of us are but stones among the others,
and to us they are but ghosts.
Methinks we shall never agree exactly
how fast the clocks should move.

When pleasures are few
A moment of reflection
Becomes everything
dan d Oct 2014
At nightfall, gazing skyward,
he exults.
Godlike,
he projects himself upon the darkness.
At first light, gazing farther,
no sign of life...
Still
Searching for what he knows not,
and finding nothing.
Does what he seek even exist?
Did it ever?
Riddled with emptiness
beyond and within,
his search is in vain.
The void is a mirror
reflecting nothing.

Casting a swarm of machine seeds of a new life
Propagating like a plague upon new worlds
Far outreaching fragile flesh, touching new worlds
Inseminating celestial womb with our new life

Who
Will
God
Me?

Me?

Only
I
Will
God
Me

I

Lay in awe
lay in the light
I rain upon you

Lay in awe,
lay in my light
I reign over you

We grasp at the sky
Found our own patch of blue
From blood, roots, and earth
dan d Jul 2017
the words they wrap around you
the lies
they weave
I believe
the words they wrap around me
with lies
they weave reality

the words they wrap around me
the lies
they weave
you believe
the words they wrap around you
with lies
they weave reality

we seek the edge
it separates me
and you
let the blade cleave
skin from flesh
we bleed humanity

we seek the edge
it guides me
and you
together anew
let the blade cleave
skin to flesh
surface to depth
we breathe humanity

we found the edge
and it cut me
and you
and the blood we spilled...
deep enough to drown in

Somewhere buried
within earth
are our tomorrows
and our yesterdays.

Somewhere buried
within our hearts
are all the dreams
we put away.

Somewhere buried
among the stars
is where we shall be
one of these days.

Somewhere buried
among these moments
is eternity,
all that has been and will be...

Somewhere buried
within earth
is all of history.
It was only set in stone.

Somewhere buried
within our hearts
are the nightmares
that we're sure are real.

Somewhere buried
among the stars
is what we shall be
one of these days.

Somewhere buried
among these moments
is infinity.
What could have been...

you sat there like a buddha showing us the way

we thought we could keep you here
we thought you would stay
in this place
we tried to be as good as you
and yet you left us
you left us
as quietly and suddenly
as a tear leaves the eye
falling
away from us
away from everything
spiraling

we stood there like fools wondering in awe at your calm
dan d Apr 2013
Emerging again
But from where?
Dimensions unseen
Some nowhere

Exploring again
Are you there?
Nothing is not seen
Know somewhere

Explaining again
Where is here?
Remember the scene
No one here

Exiting again
Was I here?
Time is obscene
Hear no one

Existing again
I am here
And all is now seen
Everywhere

We're all as dead,
as burned out,
as the stars that shine
above our heads.

We may shine as bright
and as blinding
as the sun
before we die.

Yet mere points are we,
in time and in space,
and the sum of all of us
is not enough
to illuminate the darkness,
the ever-growing darkness.

Not all shall die
and cease to shine
before their light
has reached our eyes.

But the night sky glows
with faded echoes
from long ago
weary from their journeys.

And so to shall we,
in time and in space,
traverse infinity
merely hoping
to illuminate the darkness,
the ever-growing darkness.

woe unto the dreamers!
for they invoke hope among the hopeless
and
woe unto the seers!
who find light in the darkness
and
woe unto the women!
for bearing the weight of the future
when they deem themselves strongest
and
woe unto the slaves!
for reaching out to their masters with empty hands bloodied

for safety is clipped wings
and freedom is hushed voices,
knowledge is confusion
and vision is to discern from identical choices,
while wealth is the burden so generously borne by so few

in the republic.

We
are
Nothing
All things
Becoming
Nothing

Time
is
Nothing
Forever
Becoming
Nothing

Again
we
Become
Ourselves
Becoming
Nothing

Time and time again
