Alone, I watch contently

Two friends, laughing

Children romping in the grass

Lovers,
lips locked

Alone in this togetherness
I wish for someone to hold me

Though I enjoy being alone,
I don’t fancy being                                                                       *lonely.

Someone once told me
that life is a given
that we were put here
hollow and fruitless
to only exist like dust

I argued against this
saying life is ambiguous
that we were put here
for some dialectic reason
that is bigger than us

In the end we agreed
these were both legitimate
that we were put here
no greater than dust
to achieve our finality

Life is not an unending journey
Life is a game
a definite start
an unavoidable ending
A game we were meant to lose

I wish there were more
wandering the empty halls
more of me to give

I sit with the world
This perfect imperfection
Surrounds my body

condescending tone
like a mother to a child
free of emotion

Thoughts flutter through my mind
and nest in the holes of my memory
I don't get to choose where they go
but whether or not I find them

Is love simply a feeling
or just some sick trick
formed by the creator
so we would all give a ****

A cry for help
A protest.
A last resort


A plan undone
Filled with defiance
Still unnoticed

The waves slowly lap the shore
like a hand reaching for something distant

Examining cracks that the waves have worn
