The lost elk on blue pine mountain,
Where all the stunted world is small,
Know the face of winter as it founts,
Above tree lines, trumpet all is cold.

Strange;
different words,
differently arranged,
yet nothing's changed--
Yearning remains.

Too beautiful for words,
My noble friends as they pass,
Songbirds in morning.

Lately I can recall the scent of damp wheat grass,
and smears of red clay on my calves,
at the end of each day when I wandered home
accidentally *****, and purposefully human;
a child of the earth who found unity, easily.

Bury me back in the moss garden, and carve my name on the stones
where I once crushed berries
and painted my cheeks, as
an adolescent nomad celebrating dirt and singing for
sky, while the cows were my companions and the birds,
my messengers of joy.

Take me back there one day, to rest
in final slumber.
Then, perhaps I can feel the ceaseless wonder
that once I felt when
I brushed my hand against the bark of a tree,
if now this life can no longer give me as much.

Vacant pleas for union fill the muffled ears of oafs and tickle these text boxes with futility.
How do I find the courage to write out loud?
To speak to people,
without prompting?
To laugh and cry legibly,
once I know a lover's
listening?

When you feel so low
that you can't read time
and you feel so sad
that you think everyone's blind

No one sees your plight
the world's no longer bright
you got only one place to hide
and that's your fallen pride

You can't win this fight!
You can't win this fight!

When it's You vs You!
When it's You vs You!

What does he think?
What does she think?
What does the world want to know?
How do I say?
What's the best way to convey?
That everything's fine and all is well

You can't win this fight!
You can't win this fight!

When it's You vs You!
When it's You vs You!

But you know what
there's no need to fight
there's no need to hide
there's no need to think
there's no need to blink
when you make your decisions
don't think of precision
when you're left all alone
when you're all on your own
two words will keep you afloat
two words will keep you on board

Wait and Hope!
Wait and Hope!
Wait and Hope!

Wait
and
Hope!

Koan of us in bed—
Joyous eyes, bodies moaning,
  .  .  .  Suddenly the sun.

Grey blankets the sky,
Cradled sun is winter rapt,
Life waiting to spring.

Dreadful it was today, and beautiful, when
the echoing barks of my shame, shrouded in mistaken hindsight, were
pulled forward in such a way; a fluid line took shape in my mind,
and seemed to twist onto itself, like pinching the centerfold of a long thread.
So there they were, all intertwined, aligned,
an inevitable strand of God's DNA,
or however you call him,
vulnerable and hanging at the peak of my forehead in sweet mercy,
seen so clearly, I cried.

Earth sweats— man in heat,
Caught by third degree planet,

Flowers burst in joy,
Confetti of Butterflies,
Petals in the sky.

The soft rain is drumming with the brook
And the owl is moaning with the loon,
The early sun shines on the lake waters,
Each of these things distant — I am happy.

because I know it will never be the same again
because there is no god
because there is no karma

I cry because I have given up
because there is no one else

I cry and I cry alone
no one sympathizes with me
no one understands

I cry with dignity
because I am man

I cry because I sigh
and I sigh because of my life

I cry in a bed in a room alone
feel stupid in my head
feel nothing but alone

alone
alone
alone

I cry on my throne
my throne made of ****
alone

I cry.
