I've been dreaming about a holiday
for nigh on six years
yet I'll not be boarding a jet
until my bank account is out of arrears

before I go ahead with travel plans
I'll have to have at least three thousand bucks
for that amount of cash
will see me touring the lake's district ducks

one is saving and watching the pennies
that are placed in my money box
as this is the only conceivable way
that I'll catch sight of a Nepalese fox

how I'd like to taste some Swiss cheese
whilst observing an Alpine skier
yet my supply of coinage
lacks a generous demeanor

yet I envision so many destinations
but my shortage of cash
will most certainly see
my holiday dreams take a big splash

up in the high country the wild horses run free
they've done so for nigh on a century
not a saddle upon their backs
enabling them to canter unchecked around its tract

in the National park there is a harass of them
trotting through it's blue hued wends
their days are numbered in the park
park authorities want end to their spirited lark

up in the high country the wild horses run free
they've done so for nigh on a century
not a saddle upon their backs
enabling them to canter unchecked around its tract

to sight the wild horses in full galloping step
is exhilarating and it fills one's heart with miles of pep
their hooves thundering and pelting along
to the wind's strong liberating song

up in the high country the wild horses run free
they've done so for nigh on a century
not a saddle upon their backs
enabling them to canter unchecked around its tract

down the steep ravines and o'er the hills they stride
without the reins of a man holding their ranging pride
the wild horses have need of open lands to caper and race
they are a breed which must be allowed to freely pace

up in the high country the wild horses run free
they've done so for nigh on a century
not a saddle upon their backs
enabling them to canter unchecked around its tract

shall I tell you about the bathroom sink
well of course you'd like to be in the know
leaving the tap on caused a big flow
the floor was akin to a sodden mink
it took ages to mop up the huge spill
one wasn't too well pleased with this event
gushing water banked at the door vent
saturation flush with the window sill
my concentration was rather too lax
one's mind absorbed in another thing
not a trickling sound did one's ears detect
whence filling one's basin one mustn't relax
attention must be paid to all filling
thence one shall not have that flooding affect

as the ladies
were holding a discussion
there could be heard
a loud percussion

the discussion's
raucous cacophony
bought to the ears
much misery

they persisted
with their noisy chatting
which for the listener
was most harrowing

out of hearing range
one had to venture
so one could be free
of their oral misadventure
One to make you smile...

the pitter patter of rain
hath stifled all sporting plans
they've put a dampener
on the kicking
batting
and bouncing of *****

weekend fixtures appeared
much brighter
on Thursday
the weathermen
trotted out a fine forecast
they were talking up
the sun's forty eight hour
weekend blast

yet they didn't mention
a thing about a substantial rain band
which was very close
at hand

those of the golfing
and soccer fraternities
are taking shelter
in their club houses
out of the down pours
no driving with a nine iron
on the par eight hole
nor twill there be
a heading
of a crowd pleasing goal

the mid larks
at Flemington race track
are to the wither
well and truly bogged
as the entirety of furlongs
hath been water logged

enthusiasts of sport
are glum faced souls
their weekend of competition
swallowed up in
the wettest of bowls

the weathermen
never showed any consideration
on predicting
the weather's
wild fluctuations

yesterday my button
wouldn't do up
as my girth has become
a little too round
last year my pants
fitted so perfectly
but since I've put on
a few extra pounds
they are far too tight
around my portly belly
how quickly the weight
can be gained
one has ballooned
into a size eighteen
no more does
a smaller jean fit
that is why
my button popped free

spring has most definitely sprung
this morning a pair of pigeons
were imbibing in some birdie ***
the **** mounted the hen
on the neighbor's verandah
they gave not a thought
to those who may have been prudish
they were in the mood
to be openly lewd

as the ***** ***** wind whirled
it splayed plumes of dust
across the salt-bush terrain
on that dry May day
Presently, this poem is the poem of the week, on the Oz Poetic Society website.

by heck I've been busy
in the laundry room to-day
washing all my apparel
on this mild Saturday

on the clothesline
is an array of pantaloons
four white bras are catching
the sun's brimming boon

a stiff breeze blows through
the toes of my socks
so too through the hems
of all my party frocks

no doubt Earth washing liquid
cleans the attire well
one could say that
I've fallen under its spell

my neighbor commented
on how my laundry gleams
she wishes that her Whirlpool machine
could fulfill her wash day dreams

one marvels at seeing
such well washed gear
it makes one feel like
letting out an almighty cheer

the Texas option
didn't work out
but there are other options
here and about

the option from Ohio
has got real appeal
that is why
one went for its deal

with other options
in reserve
one can select them
with relishing verve
