Never seen an apple tree
With crimson and green
Set against sunflowers
On a hot afternoon.

Thé garden is laden with
Visual delight and I move
To gather favourite sights
A waterbutt  blue and white.

In the middle stopped by the breeze
A collection of colourful annual seeds
Filled out a butler sink wrestling with time
Solitary, silently completing seasonal rhyme
Regular rhythms of perpetual chime.

Citrus green of early morning sun
Interrupted by a woman’s shadow
As she looks where land meets sky
In the freshness of another Autumn.

Over the fields, past the evergreens
A silhouette of stillness newly open
Surprised in the glancing light here
A stopping place to hold ones breath.

The briar and rose of Autumn lends light
All covered in harvest ripe berries and leaf
The bird on wing flies high against winds
And pulling over hats we trundle the shred.

My life has been a pathway stretched out
In hues of many colours brightly tied bows.

She opens her tin
And in liliaceous
Paints rain drops
Big drops, small
Drops and splashes.

A background of
Pale grey washes
Allows the drops
Of rain to settle
Creating spaces.

Then in come the
Animal people
With curly hair
And bright hats
To keep off the rain.

It is fun to paint
Getting into worlds
You don’t know
And play and dance
While it rains outside.

The frost curls round grass
I can smell its coldness
Tips of ribbon ice on green
A woman’s shadow wave.

Up above a velvet field
Glistening citrus glows
The sky a streak of blue
Mornings’ Winter snow.
