Like a dream that fades with dawn
we rise up and it seems that something goes wrong
we lose sight and our dreams are gone

We seem to let go so fast
we forget where we're goin' and swerve right off the tracks
I'm tired of tryin' on masks

I think I know were I'm goin'
Know my way up the river I'm rowin
gotta always keep rowin' cuz' the river keeps flowin'

Ive had to make a choice like this before
in fact we all have at one time or another
leave your troubles be come sit and calm down with me

Come and try to come down from cloud 9
come and sit right here by my side
and we'll discover that life's exactly how we want it to be

I know that you are feeling
Lost and wandering, disconnected, lonely,
Saddened by the scorn of so much pain,
Neglected and rejected without mercy,
Left beside the road out in the rain.

Never for a single, precious moment,
Have I ever once felt faltered in your love so bold,
You reached down deep and made me a rich token,
You reached down deep and warmed me from the cold.

Now you stand there so heartbroken and crying,
And you feel there’s nowhere else left to hide,
But there’s something you must understand, my darling,
You will always be here by my side.

When everything seems bitter and so tasteless,
And tears fall down your cheeks in salty brine,
Remember in the end, my darling angel,
All will be okay in its sweet time.

Now rest your weary head down on my chest dear,
Hear the music of my beating heart,
When you awake there will be no more tears,
For you and I will never, ever part.

Who was I then?
That one whom you all remember so clearly

I used to hate, and distrust everything
Was so quick to anger and pain

I was deeply hurt and saddened
To the point of intense masochism

I did things I wasn’t proud of
Which led to more things I’m not proud of

I led a life filled with regrets
And I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel

I said things that I’m still not proud of
And probably hurt more of you than I can remember

You representing all the people who were there
And all the people who remotely cared about what I felt

Who am I now?
If I’m no longer the one you remember

I laugh and I cry so freely
No longer bound by my own messed up rules

I long, I want, I touch
In a way I couldn’t allow myself to before

I love harder and more easily
For the chains of hatred no longer hold me down

I am light and free
Freed from the pains of the past and weight of the future

I am who I choose to be
I am a bird
I am a mountain
I am a rock
I am a human being like you
I am what I’ve become when I became me

I am and will always be
