The distant laughter broken by the waves of the Mersey is rushing through my ears,
The barbeque smells of burning lunches fill my eyes with salty tears,
Children's laughter carries along the promenade straight,
Puppy dogs playing at the old rusted gate,
This is the sound of my summer,
Teens on skateboards scratch down the path and weave,
Mobile phones beeping as the sun begins to breathe,
Cyclists whizzing by in a world of their own,
Kites flying high with excitement like they've never been flown,
This is the sound if my summer,
Gulls screeching loudly but somehow in tune,
Girls watching boys, their wavy hair they plume,
The breeze carries music from north to north west,
Sometimes getting lost under conversations and jest,
This is the sound of my summer,
Waves trickle gently onto the flats of mud,
A place where my ancestors once had stood,
No footprints linger on the darkened rich bank,
Just the waves trickling gently around the ship that once sank,
This is the sound of my summer,
As the evening drawers near a silence will fall,
The promenade will empty and the shadows stand tall,
The Mersey will settle to a soft and gentle flow,
The birds bring the night as the sun prepares to go,
This is the sound of my summer.

Listen beneath the wind,
You will hear your neighbours,
They are dying,
Listen above the wind,
You will hear the angels,,
They are crying,
Listen to the wind,
You will hear your god,
He is sighing,
We have failed at trying,
And our neighbours lay dying.

Who knew?
I didn't know,
I was the saviour!
The saviour of my own mind,
And my soul,
Who knew?
I didn't know,
I was the bringer!
The bringer of love,
And of kindness,
Who knew?
I didn't know,
I was the essence!
The essence of life,
And of death,
Who knew?
I didn't know,
I don't know anything.

They're taking down our crown,
The crown that's sat on the heads of a million men,
Women and children,
They're taking down our crown,
The crown that made us feel safe, again and again,

We grew up in it's shadows,
And so did our ancestors,
The pride of Garston town,
But they're taking away our crown,
They're breaking our history down,

A crown that grew so old,
Holding secrets never told,
Lives that came and went,
Memories gone and spent,

They're taking away our crown,
Garston will weep for the memories,
They're taking away our crown,
Our symbol of Garston town.
The iconic gas tank is being taken down

Pencilled thoughts on paper,
Penned hopeful dreams,
Typed lists of wishes
Is all I do it seems,

Nothing ever changes,
Even with the words I write,
They're just my lifes ideas,
This keeps them in my sight,

We have to keep on holding,
The dreams inside our head,
They keep us having faith in life,
Until that is, we're dead,

Then all our dreams and wishes,
Come alive and take our mind,
To pure and everlasting light,
It's what one day we'll find.

I hope!

Hey, are you in?
Are you with the crowd?
The in crowd?
Are you with the in crowd?

I'm not!
I don't want to be either,
I want to be free,
An individual,

Not a sheep,
Nor a creep,
Just me,
Individu.... ality,

I'm out.

Let's take a walk mum,
A memory walk,
Down that lane,
That's not the same, to you,
Anymore,

Let's have a talk mum,
A memory talk,
In that lane,
That's not the same, to you,
Anymore,

Let us remember mum,
Remember it all,
That the lane,
Is the same,
Forevermore,

Can you remember me mum,
It's me, your T,
Please remember me,
I'm the same,
I am that lane,

That lane we walked,
That lane where we talked,
That lane filled with love,
Do you remember,
Do you remember,

Let's take a walk mum,
A long, long walk,
And visit your memories,
We will talk,
Along that lane.
